Highly recommended - great hotel and staff”
Donsol was quite memorable for us for two reasons: 1. We were fortunate enough to have had such an amazing experience swimming with the Butanding such early in the season- four sightings in total! 2. AGM was a lovely place to relax and we were treated so well! Location: very central. 10 minutes walk to the tourism office. 20-25 minutes walk to the main town or about 20 peso's for a tricycle ride. Resort + room: fairly new looking, clean, well kept. We stayed in one of the premium room #6 with a patio. The room was decent sized and with a small bathroom. The furnishings was pretty simple but we did have some really great sleeps here. The only con for me was that the water pressure was fairly low, which seems to be a common thing in many of the smaller towns we've travelled to in South East Asia. Staff: exceptional. Leo (the owner) is just a friendly guy. It was great to converse with him. We felt he really did care about making his guests feel as comfortable as possible on their trip in this small and quaint town. We also must credit the other staff - Julius and (his mother?) who was always so sweet and helpful whenever we asked or needed something. Food: since it is a small town, there's not that many restaurant options so you'll probably be spending most of your meals at your hotel. Since it wasn't quite the high season yet when we stayed here (and we were either the only or the very few guests) our meals were more determined by what was available for the day. We didn't mind- since the food was great, especially the spotted blue crab in garlic which we had with rice...so delicious! We're quite glad we made a good choice in choosing to stay at AGM. Thank-you to the staff for helping to make our Donsol visit so memorable!

Wonderful hotel and lovely hospitality ”
My friend and I came to Donsol during the off season, specifically to see the whale sharks (which to our sadness had already left the area). We ended up being the only patrons in the hotel, because obviously people don't come to Donsol for much other than to swim with the whale sharks! The woman, who owns the hotel, was the sweetest lady! She completely took us under her wing and helped us feel comfortable and answered any questions we had. Then, my friend and I had to make the 4 our drive back to Naga to fly out the next day, so she got her shuttle service to drive us back and she offered to come with us. We told her we had no accomodations in Naga for the one night, so when we got there she hopped in a tricycle with us and helped us find an affordable place, and made sure we were set before she left. Talk about above and beyond hospitality. In addition, the room was lovely for 2. The hotel has these cute gazebos out in the yard where we ate breakfast (which we thought wasn't included in our payment, but we got for free anyways). All in all, it was a wonderful stay at AGM Resort even though our whole purpose of being in Naga was defeated

Such a friendly owner! ”
we only stayed in donsol for 2 nights seeking the whalesharks (alas, the typhoon kept them away the day we went out, but others saw them the day before). the ownder of agm was amazing. he went out of his way to help us, offer advice and make sure we were comfortable. when it rained all day he brought us books to read on our balcony. donsol is super quiet and there were very few choices for food along the beach or road, except for a few other resorts, so we ate several meals at agm and were always happy. we also had no problem paying with mastercard at the end of the trip. also, due to the typhoon the road was completely washed out between legaspi and donsol, but the owner of agm personally drove us out to where it was flooded and assisted us with our bags as we prepared to wade across the floodwaters (several hundred metres) to a taxi on the other side. what a champion!

Worth it”
me and my boyfriend stayed here for a night only. agm is not really a five star hotel but we enjoyed our stay there. location is just 3 to 5 min away from the tourism center for the whaleshark adventure. we also had our dinner and lunch in their restaurant. we ordered some porkchop, bicol express and pininyahang manok ---> (we love their version of chicken pineapple). one order is good for 3 to 4 persons and prices are all good for the servings. we had some porkchop and bicol express leftovers but they are nice enough to keep them in their ref and warm it for us the next day which was what we had for our lunch aside from the buttered prawns that we ordered the next day. staffs are nice and friendly. rooms are clean and rate is okay. too bad we were not able to give some tips for one of their guy staff who was very friendly and who called the trycycle for us when we left the hotel, perhaps next time when we go back as we failed to see any whalesharks during our stay there. we definitely recommend agm.

Overall Great place for the family”

Pros - wonderful caring staff, food, beach activities, rental gear, airport transportation Cons - Rooms had only the basic amenities, no WiFi or internet in rooms, construction was taking place on a new pool (staff was careful not to disturb as much as they could) Overall I give this resort a great rating! My family and I looked at other resorts in this location and by far AGM looks the best! Unfortunately we did not get to see any whale sharks while we were there. We went one time and were disappointed because we rode around for 4 hours, saw nothing, and had to pay for the rental and trip. I know this is a chance you take to see the whale shark but it kind of took the fun out of this particular trip for us. We did get our Introductory Dive certifications though. Thanks for the memories and I would and have recommended this resort to friends and family.

One of the best places in Donzol”
If you are looking for a beautiful place, with nice clean rooms, excellent kitchen and very friendly staff look no further. This is an oasis on the Donsol beach. Nice garden, and superior ocean views. The managers may arrange tours and fixes everything for you. We felt very much at home in this place and wish that other places around the country would take after this place and really cater for their guests needs.

Nice and friendly hotel”
I am pleased to stay at AGM, the most impressive point is they response very quickly on all my queries about travelling from Legazpi to Donsol. They give clear description and fair pricing on all cost. I feel assured for taking up their service ie day tour of Legazpi. The staff is very friendly and attentive, it's the same for the people in the little town of Donsol, love Donsol tranquility. Just one point about aircon unit in the hotel, it's the old model that roaring whole night next to the bed. It is really disturbing.

nice setting, 15 mins walk from tourist office”
The Donsol "strip" is one road along the coast, with the centre being the Tourist office where Whale Shark watching trips are booked. The AGM had a pleasant location and was attractive but about a 15 minute walk from the tourist office and most of the other hotels some of which had better facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful though and we enjoyed our stay

Complete amenities with hot shower, access to the internet, cable TV, a small beach-front common pool area, and an in-house restaurant. Good clean place, basic look. Staff is friendly and helpful. Menu needs updating. Beachfront is not for swimming. It's a 5-minute tricycle ride to the Donsol Tourism Center. Will recommend to friends who want cable TV in their private room.

Very nice hotel!”
It is a very nice hotel in Donsol. It is near by the sea and the beach, only 10 steps to go to the beach! And the staff there is so helpful and they would hard sale for any day tour plan! The food there is so delicious! We have a great experience there!

fairly nice hotel”
this hotel is fine. the staff are nice, it's super clean. there are no sea views and the food they serve is pretty horrible. they threw a christmas party for us when we were there - lovely, but a bit difficult to stomach! the beachfront of donsol has various similar resort style places to stay. this is just one of about seven - we ate at various others which did have sea view bungalows and much nicer food! however, if you want to book ahead, then this place is fine.

Value for your money isn't great as rooms dated with an ant problem. Not sure what else Donsol has to offer in regards to hotel rooms, but the staff and food here are amazing!

Best place?”
we got a lift from legaspi airport straight to agm. the hotel is 10 minutes walk from the whaleshark interaction center or 20 pesos per person on a tricycle. rooms are clean, simple but nice. aircon and shower work and the food is very nice as well. good value. staff are helpful but make sure you speak to the owners or managers since sometimes other staff are not 100% sure about what they say in english. the owner, however, she is extremely helpful so approach her as soon as you get there if you intend to see the whalesharks!

Take the taxi from Legazpi airport to AGM resort directly with 1000p, the staff is very nice, and it takes 20mins walking to tourist center to see the whale shark

Zero value for money”
While the staff is really kind and they try their best, there are better places in Donsol. The resort is 1km from the whale sharks interactions centre, which may not seem a problem, but the road is pitch dark at night, with fields on one side and god knows what on the other. Plus the sun is scorching hot in the day and there is no shade. Yes, the hotel provides a tricycle service, but they tried to over charge us asking for 200 PHP for a return trip, while we paid 80 the day after with another driver. The beach is dirty (but that's a problem in the whole Donsol and nobody uses it). The pool would be nice, but every afternoon it's infested by small kids coming to play from the school nearby: impossible to use or relax by the pool. The menu has lots of items but most of them are not available (like bottled water or fruit..!!), and it takes min an hour to get your order, even if it's only 2 omelettes with toasted bread and a shake (however speed of service seems to be a problem in the whole country). The room is clean despite the several ants roaming around, BUT the AC is VERY LOUD, VERY OUTDATED and very difficult to sleep with. The wifi in the room is non existent. When we asked about it, they plugged in a modem in the restaurant/pool area, but they would disconnect it every time we were going out, and we had to ask for it every time we were coming back. Stay at Vitton instead, it's the perfect location, has a quieter and bigger pool and rooms are nice.

Thank you for the feedback and sorry for the inconvenience.. AGM does not own nor control the tricycle service. It was the guest that negotiated with the driver about the rate and the fee is paid directly to the driver. We don’t get anything from the driver hence the allegation that we overcharged the guests is not true. The AGM Manager advised the guests that the most that they should pay is only Php40, one way for the two of them, or Php80 for the return trip. In the end, it was the Male companion of the guest that decided to pay the Driver Php200 for return trip. The AGM Manager asked the guest if they were disturbed by the Kids in the pool and if they had concerns or issues about the room amenities but she said it was OK and didn’t make any complaint. We could have acted on any concern in real time and transferred them to another room if necessary. All the resorts & hotels in the village has no internet in the rooms yet. A clean well run hotel by the Beach”
Before we arrived at the hotel, we already had an excellent impression from the helpful replies to requests to tourism information. And it was clear that the prices mentioned were those charged by the local tourist office, and not inflated by the Hotel as is the case by some of their competitors. We extended our airport transfer / city tour by several hours in order to meet friends for dinner in Legazpi and were asked to pay only for the drivers overtime. We had a family room for the two of us so lots of space. Comfortable and good bathroom. Being British we would have liked a kettle - not just the hot water flask. The hotel is located by the beach. The swimming is good - though the water not the cleanest! The embarkation pier for Whaleshark watching is a 15 minute walk or short tricycle ride away. The hotels greatest asset is undoubtedly its friendly, efficient and charming personnel. All of whom made us feel very welcome.

Helpful staff in a simple beachfront location”
We booked late and didn't have a lot of options. We really can't complain as the staff made our stay nice, but the hotel is nothing special. It has a great location right on the beach, but you don't come to Donsol for the beach. You come for the whale sharks, which probably won't make an appearance. We ended up spending most of our time hanging out by the pool and bar of a nicer place. There really isn't anything wrong with it, but the simple tasteless rooms just don't make it the lovely beach getaway you might be looking for.
