Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington

"Only complaint was that breakfast was served in room in cardboard boxes and plastic cutlery. Not quite the same. The only reason I booked this hotel was for the full English breakfast. We got up and dressed ready to go down when we received boxes. We were not told this on check in. Check in guy was very friendly but it was unfortunate that he’d just got back from seven months furlough so not his fault. Sign of these awful times. Location was perfect. Rooms were spotless but no plug sockets next to beds "

"My wife and I were thoroughly pleased with the hotel an its staff who were all very efficient and courteous. The interior deco was very chic. The hotel is superbly well kept and and we loved the complimentary beverages in the lobby. The staff were very helpful in storing our baggage before we checked in so that we could start our day early touring the city.Mr Adam , front office staff ,was also very helpful in arranging for a airport cab for our departure. If we return to London again , we will definitely make this our first choice hotel...best regards to the hotel staff...Dr & Mrs MK Au"

"Staff was incredibly helpful and if it weren't for Damaris, I would have skipped doing the London Eye with my family and missed a great time. She gave us great directions on what to do and how to get their the best way. Definitely would give this hotel a four star rating!"

The Beaufort Hotel
Chelsea,Chelsea - View on map
"This is our second stay at The Beaufort London. The first stay was so good that this time we got our friends to stay here with us. Our group consist of a family of 3 with a small child, an elderly lady and a couple. The rooms were quite small, especially our room but we enjoyed hanging out at the common area after breakfast, before dinner or whenever we were converging to make plans. The staff are super nice and very attentive. The hotel is not cheap with their open bar either, replacing bottles as soon as they are emptied. The tea and scones were served even well after the 5pm stated deadline. They were very accommodating and we enjoyed the tea and scones daily. The only thing we were not too happy about our stay this time was that the entire area was super crowded even until late at night. Our friends had a hard time pushing their stroller through the crowd as one would literally have to weave in and out between pedestrians on the walkway. Also we felt that some of the people crowding the streets look a bit shady though am sure it may just be a matter of bad fashion sense for we were told by my local londonder friends that knightsbridge is 'occupied' by mainly rich foreigners from the middle east coming to escape the heat of summer back home. A friend of ours who stayed at a nearby hotel insisted we escort her back when it was dark as she did not feel comfortable walking back alone. Also look out for crazy driving of fancy cars with foreign plates while you are crossing roads. It seems where they are from, cars have the right of way over pedestrians. "

Ashburn Hotel

"The hotel is located just one block directly west of the Underground (Glocester Station) in South Kensington, a great neighborhood in its own right and a good base for exploring London. Several major museums (Natural History, Science, and Victoria and Albert) are within walking distance, as are Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, Chelsea, and Notting Hill. The reception was extremely helpful as I arrived well before check-in time after a red-eye flight from Asia, and quick found me an alternate, comfortable room, slightly upgraded from what I had booked. Wireless internet throughout the hotel was good quality and high speed. Although the breakfast room can get crowded, the variety of food provided at breakfast was impressive for a hotel of this size. The bath was clean and had a good shower. There is a small empty fridge in each room. Transport from Heathrow Airport to and from the hotel via the Underground was easy and a huge bargain over taxi service; just be ready to carry luggage up about a dozen steps in Glocester Station (easiest if you're traveling light). Knightsbridge Hotel, Firmdale Hotels
Chelsea,Chelsea - View on map
"This little hotel is tucked down a quiet pretty street - it’s a haven in the midst of all the Knightsbridge hustle & bustle. I stayed for 1 night & could have happily stayed forever: it is so charming and beautifully decorated and the staff are all fantastic. I felt really welcomed and really well looked after. I booked a single room & stayed in 207. The bed is a large single and I felt that there was plenty of room for just one person. The bed itself was amazingly comfortable - I got a great nights sleep. The bedroom and the whole hotel is beautifully decorated throughout. It was cold and rainy in London when I stayed so I decided not to go out and opted to remain in the hotel for the evening. It was heavenly! There are two small sitting rooms each with a cosy fireplace - the perfect spot for afternoon tea, drinks from the honesty bar (really nicely done with a great selection), or you can order dinner there (I did all of the above!). Breakfast was very nice too. Highly recommend "

Hotel Oliver
Chelsea,Chelsea - View on map
"Located in the expensive Kensington area, the price is considered affordable for the room size. Not being discriminative, but for safety reasons, if you are considered morbidly obese / had knee surgery(ies) / have gout problems / on wheelchair, please book another hotel. The room and water closet (so tiny it cannot be classified as a toilet) are just tiny for a normal human to manoeuvre. It is a lucky thing that I am flexible and not obese. I was with my family in Oliver during 2004, and returning for nostalgic reasons. As my conference was in Tower Hill, and the Royal College of Music is within reach for concerts, this came as a fitting choice. PROS: Arrive at Earl’s Court from either airport Terminals 1, 2, 3 or 4. Then exit onto Earls Court Road, NOT Warwick Road, you will turn left, pass Sainsbury’s and hotel is opposite the road after the junction; Grade II historical British style white building; Boss Bobby is friendly (he wears a turban); kettle, jugs and basic utensils provided at pantry with unlimited tea and coffee 24/7; TV with interesting British and international channels; Ms Husna is generous with complimentary breakfast of orange juice, cornflakes, toast, jams, butter, ham, egg, Tesco yoghurt; 4 pounds for breakfast for each extra guest; traditional key hole mechanism; clean bedroom and bathroom with fixed shower; small bar soap / packet shampoo; two towels provided with room service. CONS: 20 pounds’ deposit for TV remote / safe key (keep receipt for refund when checking out); no heating in room – despite complaints – seriously cold; shower head very wobbly (the water splashed onto ceilings when showering – water pressure was excellent though with heated water all the time); beddings and curtains quite dated despite the minor refurbished wallpapers. But given the price, please do not expect 5-stars service. OVERALL: I may stay here again due to the convenient location. Do bring extra jacket in case there is no heating (again). "

Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel And Spa
Chelsea,Chelsea - View on map
"Lovely location, sandwiched between Battersea Power Station and Battersea Park. Also adjacent to Chelsea Bridge which makes for a wonderful walk along the river to Westminster, Chelsea and Victoria Station areas. Victoria is 10-15 min walk away. No tube station nearby, however weekend parking is easy at only £4 for the weekend at the large multi story next door. Fantastic rooms and quality, all very new. Some may find the window between the bathroom and bedroom a bit strange though...also the window blind is on the bedroom side? Our friends had rooms on the Park side of the hotel and they had these windows...our room was on the Power Station side and didn't have this window. View is great from both sides, but I prefer the Power Station side as you can see the whole central london skyline in front of you."
