Great hotel”
Very nice hotel with private onsen that can be "rented". We made a reservation for 1 night and tried the private onsen at night. The hotel offered it complimentary to us as we were on honeymoon. Very good service, very good breakfast spread as well. Oh! and they also have random lion dance performances by the staff at the lobby and some mochi demonstration + rice wine for us to try. Highly recommended.

A nice place to stay with great staff”
Although the hotel was not close to everything (within a say a short walk), they provided a great little shuttle bus service to the train and ferry stations. The staff were absolutely wonderful and we took up the Breakfast and dinner package which did not let us down. A great range of food for breakfast and a full on feed for dinner was pretty good. Not a major thing but the rooms are looking a little bit tired.

In desperate need of update”
Huge, old, run down hotel. Not a great location. Better off in Hiroshima or Miyajima. Didn’t feel the love. Super expensive for no reason. Room had bad whiff. Stay well clear.

Outdoor pool is only open for 4 weeks a year, which we only found out after checking in. Onsite restaurants are expensive, require reservations, and one was closed. Staff gave no orientation or information about the hotel facilities on check-in, except to ask if we wanted to pay a very high price for breakfast. Decor is 1970s which would be fine but showering with a handheld showerhead was awkward. Free shuttle bus to and from Miyajima station was the only plus. Not worth half the price we paid.

Decent Hotel”
The hotel is not located directly on Miyajima Island, but rather nearby. There is a shuttle that runs to the nearest metro station during a set period of time each day. In general the staff is pretty helpful. However, walking from the nearest metro stop to the hotel may take around 10-18 minutes. Also, there is no wifi in the individual rooms but only in the lobby. The hotel has several onsens and organizes boating trips around the floating torii shrine. If you need a SIM card, the nearest location is probably BIC Camera back at Hiroshima station. The hotel has a restaurant where you can eat for dinner, but make sure to book a reservation ahead of time.

This hotel has two private hotspring bathhouse (extra charge) facing the ocean front. This view is unforgettable. They also offer a Night Cruise to see the famous Shrine Gate up close and lid up with flood lights. Recommend to book a room facing the Shrine Gate (albeit bit far away) with panoramic sea view. Staff are sincere with helping us getting the bath house & Cruise. Would recommend to try some of the seafood shad (e.g. Shimada Suisan) nearby for a fun seafood experience, just make sure to be back for Cruise on time!

Pros.Large De luxe room with comfortable bed. Ours had the requested sea view. Good shuttle bus service to nearby station. Large attractive foyer .Clean and well decorated. Cons. Somewhat old fashioned in the bathroom, but adequate.

Two Star Stay at the Aki Grand Hotel”
I was promised a non-smoking room; I did not receive one. I was promised an upgraded room due to some construction on the property; I did not receive this either. The view from my room was mostly of the roof.
