My friend and I stayed here for one night as part of a Scotland road trip (NC500). We found the hotel to be better than what we expected. The rooms were clean and a generous size, the beds were extremely comfortable and the shower had excellent pressure. Just what you want from a hotel. We had breakfast included and it was a buffet style with plenty of options to choose from, ranging from Scottish breakfast, cereals and teas and coffees. Other members of our group had stayed in Premier Inn and paid more than us and we had a better deal. Would highly recommend to stay here. There is also plenty of free parking at the back of the hotel.

Dog friendly hotel Staff highly professional Spacious 2nd flr twin room newly & nicely decorated ”
Friendly staff who went the extra mile. Hotel undergoing refurb with 2nd floor rooms decorated 2 a high standard & are really clean. 4th floor not yet complete so rooms are clean but decor a bit dated so try & get a room on the lower floors. Hotel is very dog friendly & allowed in the rooms @ a charge of £10 per night which is very reasonably. At breakfast staff set up a separate table for us in spacious lounge area nxt to breakast room to accommodate us & our pooch. Great choices @ breakfast & again staff super accommodating 👍 Dogs also allowed in reception & bar areas of the hotel. Great central location. There is use of pool/spa facilities but these are OFF SITE at sister hotel which is located within a mile of Alexandra. Didn't use as only stayed 2 nights so unable to comment. Would highly recommend this hotel. I give it top marks for the level of staff engagement with guests, value for money, location, room cleanliness & decor, supercomfy beds & pillows great power shower

problem re dogs”
having booked....well in advance ....with 2 dogs /small/clean..............................................i was contacted much later, to say ..change of policy ..no dogs... so i had to cancel .....and search elsewhere.....it would have been good if my booking ..which i had in writing was honoured...

Excellent stay”
We stayed for one night and were greeted with a very friendly receptionist. We had a very comfortable twin room and booked a meal in the Restaurant which was very good.

Kitchen and friendly ”
The hotel is well situated across from the train station and on the Parade. Great surrounding views. The hotel is 18th century shell with dashes of 80s decor (in the bathroom I had, anyway) the whole hotel is very clean warm and inviting right down to the staff; everyone is very friendly and the bar staff in particular is very knowledgeable on Scotches (very important!) I very much enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back for a longer stay

Everything as expected, nice room, ensuite with bath/shower. Shower had hot water quickly after turning on (some hotels showers are fiddly and you need to experiment to get what you want!) My room was warm even with no radiators on! I just opened the window a bit and the temperature was fine. Staff very friendly and helpful. Just one thing that could be improved on....the toilet paper sheets are tiny!! I'm sure any economy perceived in buying these small rolls in is lost due to having to use more! All toilet rolls in the shops are regular size, but the Alexandra's were much smaller. I urge the hotel to supply normal sized sheets! But as I have indicated, otherwise a lovely hotel and I would definitely stay there again.

A huge buffet breakfast with lots of selections, next to the train and bus stations and also the shopping and restaurant area. I have a newly refurbished room. Staff are very efficient and friendly

We chose this hotel because it was reasonable priced and centrally located. For the price the hotel was very good, the breakfast nice, but it was the staff who excelled and allowed the stay in the hotel to exceed our expectations.

Great location, very worn/tired/outdated”
We stayed here one night before going on the Jacobite train. It is extremely close to the train station so very convenient. The hotel front looks lovely, but then the back and rest of the hotel looks dilapidated. The check-in person was extremely friendly and had someone bring 2 fans to our (hot) room, which was very appreciated. All the carpet in the hallways is threadbare and in need of replacement. Several of the hallways we walked through smelled like sewage. The stairs all have duct tape on the edges. Our room was adequate and seemed clean. Bed were comfortable. Coffee, tea, and snacks provided. The worst part was that there was loud, thumping bass from about 9 pm till past midnight so we couldn't sleep, even with the sounds of two fans and our white noise app on the maximum volume. It was infuriating! I called the front desk as we couldn't sleep, but nothing could be done. Thus, we didn't get a good night's sleep. The hotel could be great with a refurb.

In the town centre next to the train station making everything within easy walking distance. Helpful staff at reception. Bar & restaurant which serve decent food. Buffet breakfast was pretty average.

I good affordable hotel in a great location The staff on reception were great both in the evening when we arrived and in the morning when we left, The staff in the Brasserie where we have some food in the evening not so great, The food was so-so and if i stayed again i would have dinner outside But as a overnight place to stay i would happily stay there again

Refusal to supply tap water spoilt our visit”
Stayed overnight at start of Great Glen Way Walk and was happy with facilities but disgusted with refusal to fill our water bottle with tap water for our journey

Yes we would recommend the hotel clean fresh quiet room staff very pleasant would not recommend the bistro however we had a problem with the food but hotel dealt with it in a very professional manner to our satisfaction
