good location, warm staff and cosy room”
the stay at Andon Ryokan was superb! the rooms were really clean and cosy and even though it's a shared bathroom, the toilets were really clean as well. when we just arrived to check in we were warmly welcomed with hot tea, towel and some sweet snacks (this is definitely a plus as we travelled in april and the weather was super cold!). the hotel also provides a variety of tea which are available 24/7 in the common lounge area. the location of this hotel is really convenient too! near Minowa station and the directions given were really clear hence we managed to locate the hotel with no issues at all. the best part of staying in this ryokan would be the service. they may rate themselves as a two star hotel but the service is definitely six star! the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. they have quite a good command of English as well hence there are no communication problems at all. the only minor drawback would perhaps be the lock of the room. they use a normal room key instead of key cards and we had trouble locking and unlocking our room door as the key always gets stuck. but aside from that, the whole stay at Andon was a pleasant one. will definitely go back to stay again if I wanna stay in a ryokan in tokyo!

Wonderful”
Our stay at the Andon Ryokan was amazing. We went straight to the Hotel from the airport and it was the perfect place to unwind from a long flight. We immediately felt very welcome, the staff was very accomadating, and especially Aya was very kind and such a sweetheart. We booked a free session in their Onsen (hot tube) which was a really nice, very atmospheric experience. We enjoyed the western style breakfast that was made with the typical japanese perfection for cooking. And also joined Aya for a free lesson in Japanese which was great for learning some typical phrases and to learn a bit about japanese culture and how to be polite. We found the rooms to be small, but very comfortable, with tatami mats on the floor and a futon bed. We stayed here for two nights and wished we were staying more! We loved staying at the Andon Ryokan - Arigato gozaimasu!

A good base in Tokyo”
I stayed at the Andon for two nights, at the end of three weeks of travel in Japan. It was at the high end of my budge - I stayed in s feral dorm-style ryokans during my trip - but I particularly appreciated the extra comfort I was provided, especially the futon, and the little extras (toothbrush, razor, yukata, etc.). The staff was great, and clearly used to dealing with western tourists, who comprise the majority of guests at this hotel. The hotel was quiet, while still being close to a busy area of the city, and just a short hop from Ueno Station. For a budget traveler looking for a moderate splurge in Tokyo, the Andon is a great choice.

Comfortable and convenient”
Our stay at the Andon Ryokan was excellent. The staff here are incredibly friendly and speak excellent english therefore we were able to chat about the local area and how to get to various places. The ryokan has a bathhouse on the higher floor that you can reserve for a certain period of time and we thoroughly enjoyed this. There is also a rooftop area where you can take in the view (great view of Tokyo Sky Tree) and have food. I would absolutely recommend this ryokan to friends as it's comfortable, in a convenient location close to the train station and within walking distance of sights such as Sensoji Temple. Staff are some of the nicest we've ever met.

Great ryokan , Great staff”
This is the third time I have stayed at Andon Ryokan, and everytime was great! The staff is top notch, and the Ryokan has everything you need but on a fraction of Tokyo's hotel costs. If you don't mind using the transit and the metro this place is a breeze. 35 - 40 min from shibuya and Shinjuku by transit. mind you the most efficient transit in the world. If your on a budget and still want an amazing place to stay you have found the place and look no further! The jacuzzi / onsen is a very nice perk to the Ryokan as well!

Amazing place!”
Great place to stay, shame we were only there for 2 nights. Only downside is we have to whisper in the evening to keep noise down :) but it was a really nice ryokan. I totally recommend the jacuzzi too! Staff were really helpful and friendly, but we couldn't say thank you and goodbye properly when we left at 5am...but thank you Andon Ryokan!

Pleasant ambience, handy location/ area and lovely, fun art!”
Three women travelers aged between 52 and 65, we found Andon Ryokan fun and very handy. Our luggage was kept after a 1-night stay, and waiting for us when we returned from a hiking trip. It was like coming home to this lovely, artsy, friendly, modern ryokan. Good coffee, nice breakfast, good value for money. Highly recommended!

Wonderful stay at Andon Ryokan!!”
Had a great experience staying at Andon Ryokan for 3 days. The staff is excellent, very friendly and went out of their way to accomodate any request or provide advice on the area. The location is great, very close to Minowa station on the Hibiya subway line. Senso-ji and Sky Tree in Asakusa are within walking distance. Finally, the ryokkan itself is modern and updated and kept impeccably clean. the breakfast is also very good and a bargain.

Friendly home-like stay in Tokyo”
I had no expectations for doing anything in Tokyo, so I just wanted a place to stay that was clean, nearby the Hibiya line, and anything else was a bonus. I certainly found this place fit the bill, and had plenty of bonus features! First, the rooms are old style tatami mats, with super comfortable futons and linens. There's a tv, a small table, and a huge cabinet in the room. The bathrooms were clean and compact, the water pressure in the shower was excellent, and (if you can book it) the jacuzzi was a life saver after a long day of walking. The staff was very accommodating, breakfast was reasonably priced and delicious. They do require a 3,000 yen key deposit when you arrive, so make sure you have enough cash on hand. There's lots of little restaurants nearby, I tried out the udon place and it was reasonably priced, delicious, and open past 8 pm. There's a 7-11 within a 5 minute walk. One of the only problems I had was the metro station, where you had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get out; which is fine when you're just walking, but awkward with luggage. There was a dumbwaiter for your luggage at the Ryokan, which really helped. Overall, I would stay here again in an instant, especially for the price, it was a steal.

Excellent facilities, quiet neighbourhood”
We stayed 4 nights and were surprised by the excellent standard of the facilities and amenities. We used the jacuzzi room for showering and to relax in the spa. Breakfast menu was versatile for westerners and served with good free coffee. We paid the cheap cost as it was not included in our rate. The staff spoke perfect English and helped with directions to transport and sights. It was a short walk to the Metro but a good location for Asakusa and the Tokyo skytower. We would recommend if you want a Japanese ryokan experience at a good rate.

Very pleasant stay”
Andon Ryokan gives individualized attention to their customer's needs. Great suggestions on local restaurants, wonderful breakfast included, relaxing jacuzzi. Hiro made us feel very welcome by providing information on neighborhood attractions and by replying quickly to email we sent when we were out for the day. He made this place very special!

Lovely hotel in quiet location ”
Andon Ryokan is a lovely hotel. In a quiet, slightly out of the way, part of town, well away from the madness of Shinjuku and Shibuya, but still only 5 min walk from the subway. The roof too and jacuzzi bath are both brilliant. Only annoying this is that the key deposit per room was 3000 yen which if you’re heading to the airport straight after checkout might be tricky to spend.

Delightful”
We stayed here for a total of three nights during our stay in Tokyo. The hotel was extremely cosy, rooms were well sized and extremely friendly staff. It's a small hotel, so you will run into a couple of friendly, chatty folks staying at the hotel as well, which I find it just lovely. There's complimentary coffee and tea, which they even serve upon entering the hotel on our first day. One of the staff, Aya, was just a delight to chat with and very helpful with any questions about places to visit in the city. Another staff, Hiro, was just brilliant; he helped us sort through the times to get to the airport on time, he even came up to our room to give us a printed out timetable for N'EX. Will definitely come back when we visit Tokyo again! =)

Great Ryokan and Awsome Staff”
We stayed a couple of nights recently and couldn't be happier. The facilities were great, the room was small but great and the hot bath brilliant at the end of a day of sight seeing. The best thing about Andon though is the amazing staff - they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.
