Excellent price & staff, carpet needs refurbishing”
The price for a solo traveler without breakfast was unbeatable for a private hotel room. Many hostels in Japan charge the same price for a dorm room! There was a massive TV with BBC World, which made it even more worth it. Yes, the carpet and even wallpaper has several stains, as others have mentioned. As long as you wear the provided room slippers and don't do any pushups, it's completely manageable, though I do hope the hotel refuebishes both sometime soon. The staff during my late 11:00 PM check-in was very friendly and accomodating, plus morning staff chased after me after my check out to return my thermos bottle, since I forgot it in the room. Great service!

Ok for a short stay”
I stayed one night to see the Akita Kanto matsuri. Quite expensive , but there were no other options . Hotel is ok, clean and located 15 minutes walk from the station.

Small clean hotel near quiet neighbourhood and sensu park”
APA Akita hotel near to Sensu park, but far from Akita station. Probably 15mins walking distance. If you have walking disability or lots of luggage, my suggestion will be taking the local bus. Bus service will finish after certain of hours, probably 8/9pm from Akita station to APA Akita hotel. Staff are helpful. Room is very clean with tiny bathroom.

The only thing I really didn’t like about my room was the bed. Not springy, and a bit hard. The pillow was also the beans kind(???). Other than that, the room was enough for a solo traveller.

smell not so good in the room and you can smell urine in the toilet when we first open toilet's door ( both my room's and my sister's) And the carpet looks dirty and there are hair on the bed!

Very convenient to Akita Kanto Celebration Venue”
Room rate is relative cheaper during kanto festival, and it’s really not easy to get a room. Just 5 mins walk to celebration venue or Senshu Park. The stay is not quite satisfied that room hygiene must be improved. Carpet is dirty with lots of stains and dust. Bed sheet and pillow cover had smell on it. Other than that, the staffs are helpful and friendly. The accommodation was still good enough for me to enjoy the festival and get some sleep.

Dirty, old, inconvenient ”
I stayed at many inexpensive hotels this trip to Japan. This was the worst. The bed was like a piece of hardwood, the carpet was stained, shower and bathroom facilities from the 1970s. I expected park views, had gas station views. Terrible!

Worst nightmare you counld ever experienced”
The stinky and tiny room is barely exceptable. The bad manner of receptionist names Itou (伊藤)is lowest of japanese manner standard, using a lot of bad word because she did not expected that foreigner could undertand the context. Location is totally far away from JR Akita. It should be the last choice when you miss other hotel within the same area. I had never the such poor standard and management from APA hotel. APA Akita might be a black sheep.

Tourist can take bus to hotel”
Can not walk from Akita station. Tourist can take bus number 701 to hotel before 21.30 and cost 170 Yen. Make sure you check table at station first. 7-11 is nearby 100 meters and 7-11 is the only choice for dinner.

Location of this hotel is great. I recommend for every business and vacation traveller. The rooms are large and very clean. The bathrooms are very clean also. Internet speed is fantasic which is common in South Korea. Many restaurants can be found within walking distance from this hotel. Rooms are small but made up by being clean and comfortable. Bed is comfortable to sleep in. No need to bring any bathroom utensils. All are provided.

Stayed for a week. Was able to take public transportation or walk to all activities. Room was on the small side but the temperature was ok (previous reviews said something about the heat). You can open your window if it gets too stuffy also. Front desk was very cordial and polite. Would stay again.

Nothing fancy here. I was there to sleep then move on to my next destination, and it served its purpose just fine. Friendly staff, but the carpet in my room (303) was terribly stained. My suspicion is that this is the discount room they foist off to foreigners who don't know to take off their shoes. I'll bet their full-price rooms on other floors or away from elevators are in much better shape. You get what you pay for, eh?
