I had stayed in many standard Japanese hotel rooms on this trip and expected to find the same at APA Hotel Kagoshia-Chuo-Ekimae. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort offered by this hotel. The room size was not really different from other places, but the bed and the pillows were really comfortable - pillows in many other places in this price range tend to be hard like rock. The TV set was brand new and large - I was able to find a channel with free movies and Western series. The hotel is located at the back of the central Kagoshima station. By crossing the station, you have access to all buses and trams, and find yourself in the old Kagoshima city centre. If you walk straight from there you will reach bay in 20 minutes.

Really convenient location and unbeatable price.”
APA hotels are great all across Japan and this one was no exception. Right in downtown Kagoshima across the street from Amu Plaza Mall and Kagoshima Chuo Station. Tenmonkan is a walkable 15-20 minutes away and streetcars are right in front of the station to take you to Tenmonkan, the ferry ports, aquarium and other parts of the city.

APA Kagoshima is located at the easy walking distance from the Kagoshima Chuo Station. Room is quite OK with enough space for me. Breakfast is simply delicious. There are lots of Japanese restaurants and convenience stores surrounded APA.

Nice clean, affordable accommodation in a convenient location”
Two minutes walk from Kagoshima-chuo station, this place was convenient to get to, especially since I had a lot of luggage. The staff were friendly, doing their best to speak English (although I spoke Japanese just fine!). Rooms were comfortable and clean. At such an affordable price, I'd definitely recommend!

Stayed for one night before going to southern tip of Kagoshima Pref. The location was nice, took for 1 min from Kagoshima chuo Sta. The room was clean, and equipped useful amenity enough...but a little bit a small. All staff were so helpful.

Very close to JR Kagoshima”
Out of the 4 hotels I stayed in Kyushu, this is my favourite. The hotel is only a minute walk from the West Exit of "Kagoshima-Chuo Station" (turn left when you go down the escalator). There are convenience stores and some foodshops nearby as well. I am also very satisfied with the size of the room and the arrangements in the room, i.e. good space for my luggage, positioning of electric plugs & TV). In the bathroom, the temperature control is easy to adjust and so is the shower head.

Close to Shinkansen station”
The hotel is very close to Kagoshimachuo station (5 minute walk); ie the last and southernmost Shinkansen terminal in Japan. We could see the Shinkansen plaform from our room. Note that Kagoshimachuo and Kagoshima stations are two different station in the same city; the latter is far smaller, older and is less important. You'll pass by a Bic Camera store upon exiting the train station on the way to the hotel. We found the hotel clean. Can't complain about the size as it's typical for standard rooms to be small in Japan. The check in process was fast. Amenities were adequate. Overall we're happy with the hotel. We did not have much time to explore the city but we spent the evening visiting Sakurajima (Sakura Island). Being a JR Pass holder, the best way (free and fastest) to get to the ferry terminal was to take the local JR train from Kagoshimachuo station to Kagoshima station (just the next station). From there we had to walk for like 10 minutes

Good, clean, comfortable room”
We spent two nights and the hotel is very close to the train station, so it was easy getting around. There are many shops and restaurants at and around the station. The rooms are typical Japanese rooms - small but not as small as other places we stayed. We had room for our bags and could still walk around. The room was very clean. The bathtub and shower were roomy and clean. APA hotels seem to be consistent in cleanliness and comfort and we often stay with them. We did not purchase breakfast with our room. The breakfast looked good and we could pay for the meal in the restaurant. It was a very good value for the money.

Very closed to Kagoshima-Chuo station! ”
We stayed at APA for two nights and the hotel is very close to the JR station, so it was easily getting around. The room was very clean. We purchased one day breakfast in the hotel, the breakfast was good. There are restaurant closed by APA and it was a very good value for the money. We have no complaint at all with such a reasonable price for such a good hotel.

OK”
We stayed at the hotel for 5 days. The first two days, we felt that the room temperature was very, very hot, but the outside temperature was very cold. Hotel staff replied that Japan would keep room temperature unchanged this season, but on the third day, the air-conditioning temperature returned to normal. Outdoors may be warming. Wi-Fi service is intermittent. But the hotel staff was very friendly and polite. The hotel is very close to Kagoshima Chuo Station and the transportation is very convenient

Location is convenient, around 3 min from Kagoshima-Chuo. Room was slightly larger than the average (small) Japanese hotel room. Overall a pleasant experience.

The location for of the hotel is just around 5 minutes walk to Kagoshima-Chuo station. There is a huge shopping mall (Amu Plaza) nearby where tourists could shop around and get souvenirs.

Good hotel with excellent location, nice staff, and reasonable price”
This hotel is extremely closed to JR Kagoshima Eki and also closed to many restaurants and shops. The room size is okay, toilet needs more cleaning though. But overall, it is a good hotel, which nice and polite staff, worth the money to stay for 1 to 2 nights.

Nice cheap and convenient”
I have stayed in a few APA hotels in different cities. Overall I feel like they are a safe bet. I like them better than other "business hotel" chains. Their facilities are in very good condition and quite new (an important point for me is that I can control all the switches on the bed. I hate needing to leave the bed and go switching off the lights when I'm ready to sleep!)
