An ok place, decent value for money”

Location, Quite close to the edge of Birmingham

The Hotel was fairly basic and the rooms seemed a bit like flats converted, we had a random house door on our room. The staff were friendly and helpful giving advice on cabs and buses to Birmingham centre. Nothing massively exciting about the hotel. The parking was free. This was just a stop off point for us, so there were not any reasons for a more than basic stay.

Adequate stay”

We chose this hotel as it was recently refurbished n it was quite close to the University of Birmingham Housekeeping was inconsistent We had to change the kettle twice as it was not working They finally gave us a new one The box of tissues was empty when we checked in There was no mini fridge which was really inconvenient Only advantage is the parking n the room doors n windows r facing inwards away from the traffic noise

Will definitely be coming back ”

For £35 a head it was amazing value and the staff were so friendly. Rooms great size, bit odd they put us in a 5 bed room when there was only 4 of us and strange the rooms had a connecting door but only one bathroom, and also was not told you need to do a £100 deposit on check in. Other than that pure quality.

Value for money”

The location was good for me. The staff were great when I was there. The breakfast was excellent, if you like a full english! The rooms were nice, bathroom was very clean.
I hate paying for internet access. The rates here were 6.00 GBP for 1 hour or 12.00 GBP for 24 hours?

Overall I was pleased, it was value for money for the type of room. I stay in many hotels through the year, all around the world and I thought it was OK for the UK. Good accommodation in the UK can be quite expensive. You don't normally get much for less than 50.00 GBP, this was 30.00 per night including the full english!

Needs Modernising!”

The hotel could do with some modernising! The rooms could be cleaner and are need of a lick of paint. The central heating systems was really noisy and the thermostat on the radiator was broken, which meant that the room was uncomfortably warm throughout the stay.

'Good location'”

Good location just out side city centre, freindly staff, numerous pubs and resturants nearby

Stayed 1 night for business trip. Reception is modern, staff friendly and helpful on check in. Rooms are very clean but basic. Bathroom was small but also clean. I had a hissing radiator in my room all night, but easily fixed by turning it off. Numerous restaurants close by argentine steak house, Akbar curry, TGIF, Ask, Garden House, Beefeater , all within 2 mi walk. Would stay again

Would never stay again”

We were attending a colleagues retirement party on the Hagley road and a friend had told us they were staying at the Appollo so we decided we would also stay. This was without reading reviews or looking at pictures...our mistake. Arrived to go into reception and be told we were in blockA 206. The room was dated, smelt of musty smoke and minimal lighting. We told ourselves it was for one night and we would be at the party until late. Post party we got back to the room to the noise of cars coming and going which carried on all night with people hanging around outside. There were other guests on the balcony’s smoking and being loud. Then at 5.40 the fire alarm went off as someone was smoking in their room! We left at 6.30 to go home and get some sleep. Once you’ve checked in anyone can be in and out of rooms as all rooms are on the car park with no monitoring of them. It felt unsafe and we did not enjoy our stay.
