Not worth 4 stars”

Booked the angel as a couple for a night out in town. Booked a twin room which is two separate beds which didn’t really bother us as we pushed them together. There were stains on the carpet, the bedroom furniture wasn’t nice. The bathroom itself wasn’t the best. The side of the bath at the bottom was all peeled off. When taking the shower the water wouldn’t go down the drain properly so the bath would fill up. For a 4 star hotel I was really disappointed.

great staff and location”

I was visiting the Millennium Stadium and this hotel was perfect location for this and City Centre access. The hotel had kept it's old building features which was great to see but was well maintained and the staff were exceptional. The personal service friendly approach was carried out from my phone call prior to the trip, emails to update on a local event, greeting when I arrived to the individual note and service from housekeeping. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

Overpriced”

Obviously once a fine hotel. The faded elegance is not matched to the price. I paid £230. for one night without even getting breakfast. I paid an extra £13. to park my car, only to find that overnight somebody had vomited all over it.

our treat”

We like to go to the theatre and stay in hotel over night. Its a great treat where we get away from it all. The Angel is a beautiful hotel opposite the Castle. It is comfortable and clean. The staff are all very friendly and will do what they can to make your stay the best.

Exceptionally well placed”

Close to everything in the older part of town, and the water taxis to take you to the bay. Loads of places to eat and drink and not expensive. Angel staff nice and helpful, room was good with very comfortable bed.

Great Location, we did not enjoy the food (we never have)”

This venue was chosen by an event organiser so the choice wasn't ours. We have eaten here at many dinners over the years and we have never had a good dinner yet. It seems to be just one of those things that you have to accept here. The room we had however was great. Large airy (on the hottest night). handy location, clean, nice bathroom, good shower. Some parking - limited but we got a space (arrive early).

Great location”

We arrived by train and had a short walk to the hotel, which is across from the castle and close to bus stops. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Our room was large with a nice view toward the castle. The floor sloped a bit. Nice touch with the heated towel rack.

Stop over for the night after party”

Hotel does appear top be in need of some repair in the rooms. Staff were very helpful sorting out a mess up with the booking. As i was looking for a hotel just to stay after a party that night the hotel was good for what i needed.

Great hotel”

I was really pleased that I booked the Angel. I was in Cardiff for one of the Rugby World Cup matches, so you could not beat the location. There was loads of match related activity in the hotel including a local male voice choir singing - how brilliant. We also had a fire alarm go off and the hotel staff were cool calm and collected in dealing with the sleepy and grumpy guests in the middle of the night - great job!!! I would recommend it and would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location, excellent staff”

The staff is very helpful and the location just perfect, within walking distance of many restaurants, malls and shops and just across the road from the Castle. The property is being renovated, so I believe it'll be even better in the near future. There was no minibar in the room though.

Great hotel, thoroughly enjoyable weekend.”

First time I have used this hotel, as usually I use a competitor (holiday inn) for our international rugby weekends, fancied a change so tried out the Angel. Great hotel, which is centrally located for all city centre facilities and the millennium stadia in particular, lots of positives from mightily impressive entrance staircase, big room, comfy bed, free internet, super super breakfast and friendly professional staff. However, as always there are some negatives, it's decor is looking a bit tired in places, the city centre traffic noise can be an issue in the early hours (wish the ambulances and police wouldn't use their blues and twos in the the dead of night) and the car park is really a bit small. Taking all into consideration I would go back in a heartbeat even the negatives didn't spoil a superb weekend.

It was a great place, however the bar would not accept cash after 11pm so if you had no credit against your room or you brought in a friend there was no way you could purchase a drink. There was a terrible cue for breakfast which was really off putting especially if you were in a rush or elderly and secondly the buffet breakfast was never complete you would always be waiting for either bacon, sausage, egg of mushrooms which meant you at to go up to the buffet a few times to get a complete breakfast.

Good location, rooms quite small”

Stayed for an overnight stay to meet up with some friends in town. Got a really good deal online. The interior is simply GORGEOUS when you walk in! Lots of lovely little places to sit for a drink and not too noisy. Check-in was easy and quick, the staff was ULTRA friendly (couldn't do enough for me) and the room was nice and modern with all the usual facilities. Shower was excellent, and bathroom well equipped with everything. Bed was also comfortable. Two bad points, (if you can call them that) The bedroom was quite small, it felt like a bit of a squeeze to get in through the hallway when the wardrobe was immediately inside the door! The other was there is no way to get to the car park unless you go outside and walk all the way around the side, you'd think they would have some way through the hotel to get to the car park. Oh - just be aware the lift is tiny!! Would definitely stay again.

Excellent City Centre location but room was small”

The room was a bit too small. Double bed was in a tight fit with only room for bedside table on one side. Paper thin walls, and could hear TV from next room until early hours. Reception staff were very welcoming, even though they had not recieved the booking from Agoda, they sorted out my room with no trouble. Would hope for a better room next time, as they can't all be that bad.

Great location. Sadly the room we stayed in had damaged tiles. Damaged bath. Torn curtain. Stains on the carpet. Noisy and despite paying for a late checkout being rung to find out why we hadnt checked out.
