Really nice sized room with walk in shower and bath. Staff were friendly, only negitive was no lifts therefore had to carry a baby buggy up 2/3 floors

A little oasis of class”
Located right in the heart of old town Brighton and just yards from the beach, you could not be better located. with that of course comes all the hustle and bustle of a seaside town, but the Hotel du Vin provides a little oasis of calm in all this. the rooms and corridors are a little cramped as this is an old building, but the courtyard (in season), the cocktail bar and great restaurant provide plenty of room to lounge and lubricate. Often full of wedding parties on the weekend.

A once great boutique hotel now let down by a loss of attention to detail”
I used to love this hotel but it now seems to have lost its edge. The room was not clean (large cobwebs on the ceiling) there was a sleep destroying hum and buzz at ten minute intervals which the night staff had no means to deal with. They did try to compensate me financially but it’s not worth a lost nights sleep. They need some proper management to get their mojo back. I won’t be back for some time.

Nice New Year's Eve”
Went there for a New Year's Eve dinner and one night in a superior double room with our little dog. The room was fine with a large bathroom. However, the bedroom could be bigger for the price. The dinner was superb.

My favourite hotel in Brighton BUT”
Whilst I really like this hotel it is not a cheap option and the service is somewhat lacking. Other guests had similar comments (having spoken to them whilst awaiting bar service). Normally staff show you to your room (all named individually rather than numbered and there is no signage so this is really helpful). On this visit I was just told the room was on the second floor. There is no lift but also no assistance with luggage - the receptionist offered some assistance following my second trip to carry cases up and down the stairs but that wasn't appropriate given the weight of my bags - the two male staff on duty were too busy talking about tips to offer any help. 30 minute wait for burnt bacon at breakfast, other guests commented on running out of roast potatoes for their Christmas dinner and were offered and then served cold mash as a substitute. Rooms are getting tired but would benefit from some simple cleaning of the bathroom. Really like the hotel but service becoming poor.

Great hotel with a fantastic dinner and breakfast menu. My partner and I only stayed here for one night and we was swept away by this hotel. We will defiantly be returning to Hotel Du Vin

My favourite hotel in Brighton”
I really like this hotel. It is in a good position. Whilst being a chain the rooms have an individual feel. The staff are generally very good although reception can be busy so allow time if you are looking for a fast checkout.

Friendly quality hotel”
Stayed for one night attending a concert at Brighton Centre just a short walk away. Place was lovely, beautifully put together. Staff were absolutely fantastic. Couldn't have been more helpful and were great with a last minute change to our dinner arrangements. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend it.

Very disappointing”
The hotel is located in a very central location. This is about the only positive thing I can say. We had a Superior Double Room; given our experience, I wouldn't want to stay in a Standard Room .... our room was small and dark, and the electric sockets were in inconvenient places for the hair dryer, kettle etc. Whoever planned the rooms needs to go back to college. The bathroom is a health and safety nightmare and I cannot believe it has been passed as safe. It is nigh impossible to open the windows because of the location of the bath and stretching across it was a hazard. The steps to the shower space are also dangerous. We reported a faulty lamp. Actually it had loose screws and was dangerous. They took it away but didn't replace it making the room even darker. Sorry but for £190 a night (without breakfast) I expect something far better and won't be staying here (or in any of the Hotel du Vin chain) again. Very disappointing.

We spent the night prior to our 20th wedding anniversary. The location was great, so close to The Lanes. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but it looked lovely. One downside is that there was no full length mirror in the room - maybe not an issue for some, but it was for me. It was a bit noisy too with people outside shouting. (we were on the 1st floor). Pulling or drawing the curtains behind the bed was impossible unless you climb on the bed and stand up - a bit problematic when you are a bit older. Lovely big and comfortable bed. A superior room, was good but could have been better.

Definitely trading off its original image;tired and in need of a refresh.Lacking in generosity at £170 for an attic room with no breakfast and even charged for the Newspapers.

Weekend trip”
It's a lovely hotel. Perfectly situated, stylish and cosy. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and staff are very polite and attentive. The food was excellent and the bar had a buzzing ambience and we found it a great place to have a drink after dinner. The bed in our room was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. However, there was no milk in the room to have with tea/coffee and the lighting was rather dim but these were just minor things. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Room was nice but too many chairs in the Al Fresco courtyard meaning hard to access ground floor room with our luggage. Flies in room including dead ones on the window ledge which had been cleaned. Overall a good stay but a little room for improvement
