The location of River House is good, just a 10mins walk to the shopping centre and located at the residence area which quite at night. Room and washroom are clean. Kitchen and dinning are warm. Provided breakfast is good, few bread offer you to choose.

Could have been amazing ”

I specifically picked this accommodation as there were pictures of rooms & my daughter had an anxiety, processing disorder so having a picture of where she is staying is necessary. On arrival we were given a different room and when I requested the room I had booked it was suggested that I should have booked a hotel if my child had problems. It always amazes me how people are ignorant of hidden disabilities. It was a frustrating and distressing experience. I am sure the owner (who eventually changes our room) thought he was doing a good thing but she my daughter was terrified that she would be thrown out for being wrong or naughty. I had specifically picked somewhere we could spend time but she now only wanted to stay in her room or be outside the property. We are better at supporting individuals with obvious physical disabilities but not so hidden ones. And contrary to popular opinion why should I have told them in advance my daughter had special needs, just give me the room I booked.

Great homey place to explore Cardiff ”

Just short walk to the main shopping streets with lots of bars and food as well as Cardiff Castle. Very clean and comfortable room (private on top floor - while lots of stairs was fine!) With nice continental breakfast to start the day.

OUTSTANDING hostel, great value ”

I highly recommend this place. It is very central to the city, and very clean spacious rooms. There are modern showers and a generous breakfast. Cooking facilities are good as well. Staff are friendly and on hand for guests. We travelled as a family and I would recommend this hostel for people with children. Very impressed all round, and will rebook.

El hostelería está excepcionalmente limpio. No es ruidoso. Los baños están nuevos y funcionan muy bien. Las habitaciones y pasillos son estrechos pero nada preocupante. El desayuno es excepcional. Puedes tomar café y te cuando quieras. El sábado nos invitaron a pizza y cerveza!!. Tiene un comedor agradable, una cocina muy completa, y un espacio exterior que es suficiente para estar al aire libre. También una habitación cómoda con libros, info, TV y Sky. El staff es agradable y me resolvieron todas las dudas. No es un hostel de fiestas, es un lugar agradable con gente educada donde puedes dialogar y conversar con otros viajeros. Bien sitio para familias también. Lo recomiendo.

The shared bathroom was the only negative for us. When staying in town we are hardly in our room so no TV, desk or hanging space is not a prob. I thought I'd manage ok with having to pop out to use the loo but as someone who doesn't do PJs it wasnt as simple as I thought. If they just an option to have a room with a bathroom this would make a massive difference. I have stayed in many hostels in my younger days but always been able to get a room with its own loo.
