Couldn’t hope for more, it was perfect!”
We had a great price via Agoda (170$ CAD for 2 person 1 night). We were received as if we were royalty!! Amazing service, every employee were so helpful and nice. We had a room Japanese style top floor with a great view over the valley with the mountains in background. We were able to book the private Onsen twice during our less than 24h stay, we appreciated it a lot! Not much to do I. The little town of Arima during winter though, but to get the Onsen experience, I would defiantly advise you to book with them!

Highly recommend”
On site onsen are great, not busy if you go early in the morning or late at night. They have English-speaking staff which is very convenient. Their bus shuttle services are great and they will even drop off suitcases for you at requested bus station when you leave!

Quaint authentic Ryokan stay in an Onsen Town”
Motoyu Ryuusenkaku is a traditional authentic ryokan that is tucked away at the top of Arima Onsen.. you can get up on foot, but if you have a luggage, do call them up and there will be a van to pick u up from Arima Train station. Their hospitality is fantastic and we were wamly welcomed from the start till the end. Rooms was warm and cosy, futons and kimonos were provided for our comfort. The room smelled a little damp, but it was a wet season afterall and its a wooden accomodation. Unfortunately, we wanted the dinner service but it was sold out. So i would advise you to apply for the in room dinner service earlier as the town closes early, hence food might be an issue. The ryokkan does not accept other food to be brought into the rooms. Hence we got dinner in town. Motoyu Ryuusenkaku will provided a little list of restaurants that we can have dinner at. However, the town's people speak very little English. But we could get by with key words. A key facility would be the public indoor and outdoor onsens, which has gold and silver water. And also the private onsen which can be booked at 2000yen for 45 mins,at the reception counter. We enjoyed our stay and their hospitality very much.

Kids friendly Ryoken ”
This is a good ryokan if you travel with young kids or baby. The bathroom is equipped with baby bathtub and baby shampoo is provided as well. Most of ryokan provides yukata for adults only but this ryokan provides for kids to infant. The best part was there’s even a baby buffet in the morning. It was nice that my 9 months baby don’t have to eat instant/canned food. Highly recommended if you travel with young kids.

Dated ryokan, private onsen is a good”
Booked two rooms for 4 adults and a child, room is very dated and not very clean, weird smell in bathroom. Only good is private onsen, nice outdoor bath, 2000yen for 45 mins. It would be easier with cars or walk around 20 mins to reach the main street. Restaurant and shops nearby mostly closed very early around 6pm plus. So if you didn’t book dinner with the hotel, it’s a trouble to find foods around.

Relaxing”
We returned to this ryokan 2 months after our last stay. This time, we were better informed about their services, so we called them from Arima station and they immediately drove down to pick us up. We wanted to enjoy the onsen and relax, so we opted for no meal. Therefore, we cannot comment on their dining. The outdoor baths are nice and cozy and the facilities are good. We plan on coming back, again!

Cozy and warmth, worth for it.”
Acceptable price with good room, food and view We choose mountain view for 4 adults The hotel is on the mountain, a little bit far from the center of town, but the tourist information can call to hotel and them sent the bus to pick up you quickly. Good traditional style japanese hotel, not new but very clean. Staff are good in english and very nice They had outdoor and indoor onsen, quite great both of them but I like the outdoor more because you can see the mountain from the onsen Dinner was very, very great. You will have them in your room, sashimi and Tajima beef was great. And you will have breakfast at 1st floor in morning, good one. Not recommend who had backache because the bed is only japanese matt, about 2 inch thickness, but enough for me!

Nice room, great service, slightly far away from station”
Traditional Japanese style room. Despite big bug inside the toilet, staffs were very nice and helpful. One thing to note is that there is another hotel in Arima with a very similar name. location : in a hill and takes 15mins walk from bus station ( if you just stay for one night, suggest to bring slight luggage) Good thing is that they provide pick up on your arrival as well as return at the major stations in Arima . (You need to call them upfront) One rule is that you are not allowed to bring food from outside , if you didn’t preorder their dinner and need to go back to town for dinner , they offer shuttle bus at around 6:45 and 8:45. In general , great experience !

Relaxing”
We walked up the hill with our luggage but later heard they had a pick-up service. Please contact them for that as they don't have the info on agoda. The room was very Japanese, and quite spacious. We didn't eat their food so we can comment on dining. The private onsen is available for booking and costs ¥2000 for 45 minutes. The onsen facilities are good!

Above average”
Maybe it is to be expected in an old town like Arima. But having stayed in various Ryokans and Onsen hotels in various parts of Japan, and least to say, having paid equivalent or half the amount per night, i still would not hesitate to rate this as the lowest I've been in. The onsen itself was devastatingly small and ill-equipped. Showers were placed outside in the cold at the outdoor pools which made little sense. There was no water available to drink within the facility of the onsen either which i would have presumed to be a necessity. The service, however, was impeccable. I'd give 6 stars if i could for their warmth and excellence.

Good for Onsen”
Good service with good Onsen. But aware the pick up phone number is correct when arrived. I helped by local in bus station that the phone no. is not in use and sorted out by them. Recommend private hour section of Onsen with adding little more money.

A small but good onsen hotel”
The buffet breakfast is just acceptable. Need to climb a steep slope to reach the hotel. But I do like the onsen, both indoor and outdoor. A good place to talk to random Japanese people.

Clean”
The room is clean and spacious. We liked the design of the bathtub. The hotel is located quite far from the station but there is free transport provided by the hotel. We have a pleasant 1 night stay there.
