The hotel overall is not bad but only one thing I couldnt understand is when I asked to check half hour early the front desk staff was happy to say yes but her manager or supervisor refused to me check in early.

Perfect Location as a base for visiting neighbouring areas”
The hotel is is just steps away from the train station. My room was small but that's typical of most Japanese hotels and the bed is soft (which I like). Hotel is locate at the edge of the main shopping street but then again, being off peak, it was quiet with many shops not open. The Takada Castle Park is a short walk away. My only complain is not to do with the hotel but the train station. If you choose to stay in Takada, be aware that the trains are not frequent so you have to plan your itineray/connecting trains carefully.

Convenient to Takada Station ”
The hotel is very conveniently located within 2-3 minute walk of Takada Station. There's also a convenience store across the road. Rooms are decent with easy access to wifi. You have a t.v. and fridge along with a kettle. Not a bad hotel but with not much happening in Takada unless it's Sakura time, I'm surprised hotels in the area are more expensive than those in Niigata city.

There's probably no other hotel around the area so this is your only option. It's slightly expensive compared to other business hotel and if you're taking shinkansen, bear in mind that you need to take another train to reach the downtown area. The good point is probably the restaurants in front of the hotel that open until very late.

Grubby furniture and dirty carpet but clean bedding!”
Great location, an easy walk from the station. Room was meant to be non-smoking but no signs in the lift, none on the Floor, none on the room doors and no notice in the room meant a heavy smoker must have been the previous occupant for a number of nights. The smell was in the bedding, curtains, furniture etc and despite the best efforts of staff, could not be remedied. The room was dated, the carpet grubby and stained and the chairs were discoloured, very worn and grubby. I would not stay at this hotel again - ever. The only poor hotel in our 21 day trip.

The room you stayed in was "non-smoking" type room. There must have been some reason that the room had the odor. We are sorry that the crew did not check the room condition more thoroughly. Instructions will be given to them to ensure that the rooms are in satisfactory conditions before the guests check in. Regarding the equipment, your comment is deeply appreciated, and will be in the consideration for the future improvement. It is impossible to change what already happened, yet it will be very much appreciated if you choose our hotel and grant us a chance to host you again, the next time you visit Joetsu area. Thank you, Nyūmura-san, and Yamazaki-san! Thank you to the chefs for a great breakfast featuring traditional Niigata fare like noppei jiru, something akin to a hangover soup, and the fried abura age. I appreciated that they showcased two different types of rice. I truly enjoyed the hire katsu and beef curry. Five-minute walk to the train station, and 20-minutes from the Takada Castle. The room was small, but everything else made up for it. ありがとうございます！

朝食バイキングの笹団子”
初めて宿泊しました。チェックインの時間の前に荷物を預かっていただき、とても助かりました。その時雨が降っていたので、スタッフの方が長傘も貸してくださいました。お部屋は広めで掃除も行き届いていました。窓は大通り側でカーテンを開けるとお迎えのビルのオフィスが丸見えだったのでカーテンは開けられませんでした。 朝食バイキングは新潟の料理が並び、とても美味しかったです。特に笹団子は市販の物と違ってひと口サイズで、剥きやすくて食べ易く、笹の香りが素晴らしく餡子も甘さ控えめでとても美味しかったです。 聞くと特別に作っているそうで、市販ではこのサイズは無いとのことでした。でもホテルのレストランの入り口でケーキと一緒にケースに入って販売されていたので、お土産に購入して帰りました。家族もとても喜んで食べていました。 また高田を訪れることがあったら、このホテルに宿泊したいです。
