Super Location, Small but comfortable clean rooms”
the location is set in the heart of tsim sha tsui but going into the premise was quite deceiving. the building has alot of lodges, backpacker accomodations and the 2 lifts downstairs operate on odd and even numbers (if you are on an odd floor you have queue up and a guard controls the traffic downstairs). we were greeted by the owners nephew i think and he was more then hospitable. he put us in one of top floors, although small was more than what we could have asked for the price we got it at. great value for money, clean, safe, well received and received great advice from out hosts. when you step out of the building you step out into the heart of hong kong city. the advantage is the location, subway was a stone throw away, cinema's were in the building opposite to our accomodation, the harbour and amazing lights were to our left probably 200 meters away. what we liked the most was that we could stay out until the wee hours of the morning and knew that we can crash without putting too much of an effort as we were just a hop, skip away from ashoka hotel. trains stop running at around 11.30pm. nathan road goes on forever, great shopping along the side streets and main street. we had a great time purely because we were staying so central to the hub of all activities. highly recommended if you can overlook the initial hesitation of getting there, once you are in, you appreciate the beauty of where you are (don't judge this book by its cover). thanks ashoka, we will definitely be back!

Exceeded our expectation”
Booked this hostel room regardless the negative reviews about Chungking Mansion. At first, we were so hesitant to go there but since our booking has already been confirmed we wanted to give it a try. When we arrived at Tsim Sha Tsui where this is located, we were so surprised that it wasn’t so bad as it sounds in the reviews afterall. There were so many people offering you things around but all things are good if you just don’t mind them. But hey, give them a smile! :) This is located at the 16th floor of the building so if there are so many people queued on the elevator you just gotta wait for a few minutes but still, all is good. When we first arrived at Ashoka, people (the indians and filipino ates) on the reception were very accomodating. They made sure that we got the room we asked for (especially our request). We loved how the room was so clean and also didn’t mind the small floor area since we don’t stay much the whole day. It fits all four of us. The location was accessible To MTRs and so many other stores. For our overall experience, the hostel and the staffs itself has exceeded our expectation. If we were to return to HK, we are definitely staying here again! You guys should give them a try!

Great place to stay for budget-limited travelers”
It was my first time to travel abroad and me and my colleague have limited budget hence we have to book in a cheaper place where we could stay for four days and three nights. We booked at Ashoka Hostel because based on my readings, they got good reviews and positive feedbacks from tourists who have been there. We weren’t wrong for checking-in at Ashoka. When we arrived, we were greeted and treated nicely by the hotel staff. They were pleasant and helpful. Our room was cozy, quite small but it was clean and well ventilated. It has aircon and electric fan, exhaust fan in the bathroom, telephone and hot and cold shower. Photoholics can also upload photos of their everyday adventure in Hong Kong, easier and faster because of the hotel’s speedy wifi connection.

Great location, Friendly Service, Clean Room! ”
the lobby of the hostel did not look appealing, besides there is only 1 lift and at peak period, there will be a long queue for the lift. therefore, the waiting time might be a lil longer than usual. however, let me say this is the best place to stay in if you want to save on a place to stay while on your holiday! yes, their staffs are friendly! initially, i was given the wrong room.. i actually did not really dispute, however a few minutes later, there was a knock on my door. not only did they give me the right room, the guy helped me with my luggage and things that i have. had a little chat with him too, he is really a nice person! the location is just 1 minute away from tsim sha tsui mtr. it's very convenient! not just that, it's also 5 mins away from many places. (avenue of stars, victoria harbour, sogo(shopping!), parklane shoppers boulevard) you would not regret staying at tsim sha tsui! the room is very clean! aircon works fine, tv works fine too. they do clean your room everyday while you are out! so yes! great service! :d

VALUE FOR MONEY”
Ashoka hostel is very near the view of the Victoria harbor and it is also very close to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR which makes it very convenient for travellers. I would like to give special thanks to Jasmine who was friendly and kind to us. I would definitely recommend this hostel if you are on a budget.

Comfortable, Convenient and wallet friendly”
I stayed 3 nights in the Ashoka Hostel. The room was small but it was enough for me. It had a nice TV and fast internet that was reliable so I could spend my day sightseeing and doing various things around Hong Kong and then come back to the hostel relax, catch up on emails and watch TV. The hostel is located right near the metro and a close walk to Victoria Harbor and the ferry terminal. The staff was very attentive and made sure that my stay was comfortable. When I checked out, I was unsure how much I gave them for a deposit so they took the time to overview security tapes from when I checked in just to make sure they gave me the correct deposit back.

convenience at its best”
ashoka hostel is located inside the chung king mansions. at first look it may seem that the place is a bit mess and a lot of people are always going in and out the building, but once you get inside ashoka it's completely another thing. the staff are very accommodating; cleaned our rooms and changed our towels/sheets daily. the room itself is great: just enough space for me and my friends, and the bathroom has nice fixtures. it's not that big, but who needs a big room when you're out most of the day anyways? and lastly the location, which is a very big factor when the purpose of your trip is to be able to see all the great places/attractions/shops in hong kong; a couple of minutes away from the mtr and even on the bus stop. overall, i would definitely come back to ashoka when i visit hk next time.

Excellent and always memorable in HK”
I really love staying at the Chungking Mansion. It's an infamous place among Hong Kongers for shady activity, but if you are like me and are a seeker of adventure and unique experiences, you must stay at least a night or two here. That being said, the Ashoka is one of the better spots to lay your head in the Chungking Hostels. The rooms are clean, you have a private bathroom, space is a bit scarce just like it is anywhere in HK, the staff is pretty relaxed, and because of the Hostel's is on an upper floor location, its fairly quiet at night. The food in the Chungking Mansion is incredible especially the Indian and Pakistani Food, the shopping is just as incredible, you can get almost anything in this building from electronics, fruits and veggies, foreign currency exchange, etc. You may even be able to purchase a automobile in the building lol. It truly is one of the most unique lodging experiences anyone can have in Hong Kong. You will meet people from nearly every corner of the globe. Check it out if you dare.

Awesome! Great Staff! Great Location!”
Awesome stay. Second time there and remodeling is well done. Staff was very professional, courteous and kind. We had just gotten in after a 16 hour flight, and the receptionist let us check in early, in an available upgraded room. I have been to 5 star hotels and not been treated as kindly. The Ashoka and it's staff are the best. We felt like family. The location is great too. Central to shopping, Kowloon Park, museums, "The Walk of Stars" and walking distance to the Star Line Ferry to Hong Kong. There is a vast variety of restaurants in the area, allowing you to sample various cultural cuisine. It a nutshell, a stay at the Ashoka should be on your "Bucket List". God Bless Colin Carroll

Much of the money.”
Location is fantastic. In the midst of the hottest in Hong Kong. And the amazing shuttle bus for 33 HKD will take you directly to the hostel in 70 minutes. If you like peace and quiet, you will hate this house that contains everything. Calm inside the Hostel floors but the elevators are wonderful if you like the mess and sometimes go down one floor to catch the elevator. At Ashoka works toilets, shower and AC. And outside your door, you have boiling drinking water to coffee, tea or own instant-soup. Maybe I'm more positive when I was upgraded to a bigger room because of the few guests. 24/7 transparent.

Twin Room”
Room was quite small but very clean and comfortable enough to sleep in after a day of gallivanting in HK. They clean the rooms and change towels everyday. Bathroom is small too but is squeaky clean. Heater is working. TV working but only 2 or 3 english channels and rest are chinese. Internet is strong...I was able to work. Drinking water provided -they have water dispenser and airpot in every floor/block. Location is excellent. Hostel is inside Chungking Mansion (along Nathan Road). About 2-3min walk to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. About 10min walk to the harbor (Ave.of Stars) About 10-15min walk to/from HK China Ferry terminal (we arrived via ferry from Macau). Malls, watch, clothing, beauty, souvenir stores everywhere. Lots of restaurants...you’ll never ran out of food choices. There were around 4 or 5 money changers at the ground floor. Make sure to compare rates first. Staff and customer service are great. Reception was super friendly and can speak English. Check in and check out was a breeze. There’s a deposit of 100 HKD for the proxy card, which is refundable of course upon checkout. Reception by the way, is on the 16th floor. Make sure to read your Agoda confirmation for the direction. My only complaint is the elevator. It’s super slow. Queue to the elevator can take up to several minutes especially in the evening (when everyone’s going back to their rooms I guess). Good thing, our room is only on the 6th floor, we can take the stairs going down. There’s a passage going to the mall in the 3rd floor and you’ll come out in a Cafe, so ideal if you’re looking for a breakfast/brunch place in the morning. Will definitely stay here again in my next visit.

Highly Recommended”
It was great. Although single suite room was small, it was expected as Hong Kong is extremely cramped. It is secure as you need a card to scan to enter the apartment and then a key to open your room. I was able to leave my luggage in a secure room when I checked out. Room cleaning is done everyday and new towels given. An overhead fan and air conditioner provided in room. Although the tap could not be closed fully, it was not a problem. Staff service was good. I would recommend to stay at Ashoka hostel for any travelers who can handle small spaces.

Good value for money”
It was a good value for money considering the location. It was very accessible, along the high-way of Tsim Sha Tsui. You can just walk to the tourist spots in TST, or to the MTR stations. Rooms in Hong-Kong are usually small, but I think our room was more spacious compared to our friends' rooms who stayed at different hotels. Remember this is a hostel, so you get what you paid for - comfy enough bed to get good sleep and rest, private bathroom with heater, aircon, and enough space for your luggage. The building itself might not give you that good vibes at first, but you'll get used to it! Plus, they do have luggage storage service though it is only located by the hallway, you can pick it up any time of the day. We didn't lose anything, I had my laptop in my bag without lock, and all other things were in place.

Ashoka Hostel - Highly Recommended!”
Despite the many terrible feedback about the numerous hostels in Chungking Mansion, we were lucky enough to get a clean room, reasonable wait time to hop on lifts (as I have planned ahead our entry/exit timing knowing about the waiting condition already), friendly and helpful management and staff, safe stay and no bother on the populated foreigners in building. What we have experienced at Ashoka were the exact opposite of the common top 5 horrors of Chungking Mansion hostels. Location is A+ with access to ample public buses, taxis and MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station. Should you be looking at stay in Chungking Mansion, go for Block A! And luck counts too in getting an acceptable room to stay coupled with sociable approach with their management and staff to get not only room problems resolved but also on information/guidance to places and cheaper admission tix compared to even online purchase!

Backpacker's choice”
I arrived at the hostel about 4am in the morning and the receptionist was still in his deep REM when i woke him up so he immediately brought me to my room without further questions other than my name. The place is so clean and technically speaking, its a wifi hotspot since its all over the place! The room is clean and has a great view along Nathan Road. The comfort room is clean with hot and cold shower though its a bit small and sometimes, tissues weren't present at all times, but no need to worry coz i brought my own. The receptionists at daytime were really great and hospitable. Overall, Ashoka Hostel is a great place that i can suggest to backpackers like me. Keep it up Ashoka!

Party of 9 stays at Ashoka Hostel conveniently”
Ashoka is situated near everything.. So it is very accessible. the room was small but clean and organize.. I booked 3 triple rooms because we are 9.. each room has a small comfort room but it is convenient.. clean restrooms with hot/cold shower..The-best part is the receptionist is a Filipina.. Ate Gloria... is very attentive to our needs, very accommodating, very informative and very kind.. She recommended good place to dine.. showed us easy mode of transpo to our intended attractions.. even helped us get a van to bring us to the airport at a cheaper price.. Even the 2 other nationality receptionist who took over after the duty ofAte Gloria were very kind, So I highly recommend Ashoka to future travelers.. And oh by the way.. we enjoyed our stay at HK because it was peaceful and no rally and there were 3 to 4 uniformed police officer looking after outside of the ChungKing Mansion where Ashoka is situated.. So we feltvery safe during our stay.. Thanks Agoda for-this booking.

Nice location, good value”
If you are a traveller and just looking for a place to put your things, sleep for a few hours, take a bath then Ashoka hostel inside chungking mansion is the best place for you. Everyday they changed the towel and you dont have to ask for it. The receptionist were very approachable. The beer is cheaper than 7/11. The lift is the first lift you see once you entered chungking mansion. You cannot smoke inside the room but you can at the stairs just outside the reception area. It is located at the very busy street of nathan road and the mansion is just across mtr station, walking distance from avenue of stars, hongkong space museum, etc. the best value for money. It is not true that the indians huggling down stairs were scary, you only have to say 2 words to stop them "no, thanks" then just waived ur hand. We enjoyed our stay there. Best for group of friends who are just looking for a cheap place to stay, sleep, and take a bath with very near access to an mtr station.
