The staff were superb as was the food, drink, decor and everything else besides. I literally can’t find anything to fault in this hotel and it is probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

Charming and elegant”
i would highly recommend this hotel, beautifully situated on the Parfum river not too far from "downtown" hue but far enough to be exclusive and almost regal in its stature. the art deco design feels like a throwback to a different era, and combined with the historic significance of Hue's economic and political prowess, we really did feel like we were in a time capsule. The staff was kind enough to upgrade us to a river view room, which was lovely given the outdoor terrace that overlooked the river. only -ives:, bed mattress didnt feel as plush as other 5-stars, and neither did the room size given the general feeling of space in the hotel overall. we would definitely come and stay here again, and highly recommend it to any traveller seeking western luxury in a historic colonial Asian setting.

Beautiful setting”
La Residence Hotel in Hue is simply stunning. The Gardens are beautiful as are the rooms. We had a pool /river view double room with balcony. The bed and pillows were heavenly. Wifi in rooms worked well. The staff always had a smile and were eager to help and do what they could to make you more comfortable and make the most of your stay in Hue. They quickly organized tours, golfing and cooking classes...all of which were superb! We preferred dining outside as the main restaurant at night la Parfum was simply too 'fussy' for our tastes. The spa had great staff and was very relaxing. Overall I really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend La Residence as nothing ever seemed too much for the staff! My only complaint..as always in Vietnam is that in a country that exports coffee why on earth does a 5 star hotel leave cheap nescafe sachets in your room? A plunger would be preferred or single serve nespresso!

An Art Deco Gem”
La Residence is Hue is one of the finest hotels it has been my pleasure to visit in 50 years of travel. It starts well by looking beautiful : it is a superbly restored art deco hotel situated near the banks of the Perfume River. The attention to detail is evident in all aspects of the hotel's design - floor tiles, wall decorations, furniture and curtains. It is a delight to the eye. The service is reserved and polite, in keeping with the locale, and the food was excellent. It is a hidden treasure, a fine Colonial style hotel that deserves to be ranked alongside the like of Raffles, the Galle Face in Colombo, The Algonquin in New York in its hey-day and the Savoy in London.

Best staff in the world”
It is a little unfair to single out individual members of staff because every member of staff has treated us like Royalty. I will tell all of my friends that they MUST stay at La Residence if they ever visit Hue. Mr Hoan is excellent, helpful and very funny. Mr Bang, Mr Tan, and Mrs loan are simply exceptional. Nguyet deserves 10 out of 10 because he went a step further and REALLY helped us out when our flight was cancelled. However, like I said it is a little unfair so single people out because even the small guy (maintenance man?) in the Grey work clothes was very polite. The Bar staff, the room maids were just great too... I could go on & on. TO EVERYBODY AT LA RESIDENCE, HUE THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR MAKING OUR STAY AT YOUR HOTEL THE BEST EVER! I have already left my comments on Tripadvisor. Words cannot express how grateful we are for your service and how happy you have made us!

An excellent hotel with many fine feaatures”
La Residence was ideally located for our first visit to Hue, and I can't think of why it won't be so for return visits. It's within comfortable walking distance of several market areas and an easy taxi ride to others. We enjoyed strolling down Le Loi in the evenings, seeing the activities on and near the Perfume river.

Deco perfection on the perfume river”
had a wonderful stay here. the hotel is a short tuk tuk ride or a 15 minute walk along the river into hue. it's a beautiful place with a feeling of laid back luxury and decadence - a trip back into colonial times with wonderfully attentive staff, a beautiful room on to the terrace with views on to the perfume river. staff are wonderful and helped us arrange airport transfers and daily excursions. i got trapped water in my ear while staying and struggled to sleep. i went to the spa to ask for some almond oil to help dislodge it. though a little lost in translation, one they got it they found a small dropper bottle from a facial product, emptied and cleaned it and topped it up with oil for me, which was more than i expected and got me a much better nights sleep til i could make the pharmacy the next day. loved our time here and would return again and again if i could.

Wonderful hotel & Room with a View”
Very attentive staff from the minute of arrival. Lovely room and personal terrace overlooking the Perfume River over the tops of palm trees in the garden. Very attractive swimming pool with a bar and parasols. Having breakfast on the terrace outside the restaurant was relaxing and enjoyable. This is an expensive hotel, beautifully decorated in the French colonial style, and with the highest standards of service : If coming to Hue again, I would stay here - staying anywhere else - perhaps a little cheaper - would leave me with the nagging feeling of the experience of luxury I had probably missed.

Fantastic hotel, an oasis in Hue”
We stayed here for 4 nights and had a superb experience. The rooms were well appointed and we had a view of the river which was lovely. The breakfast was excellent and the night we ate at the hotel we had a superb dinner. The concierge arranged a trip out for us and booked u our own dragon trip on the river. Nothing is too much trouble. Mid you want to visit hue I would say that la residence is the hotel of choice

we spent two nights at la residence hotel in hue, vietnam and enjoyed everything about this hotel. ths staff were friendly and efficient, the room was very clean and comfortable, the small details were what made the difference for us. hue is not as exciting town nor does it have as much going on as other vietnamese cities such as hanoi/ hoi an and so the hotel was without doubt what made it for us. we stayed in seven hotels during our trip to both thailand and vietnam (all 4 or 5 star) and this hotel was our favourite. we would highly recommend you stay here.

La Residence is the hotel for you if you like beautiful buildings the has mixed the old with the new. The hotel is on large grounds that make you forget how busy Hue is with traffic and people but it is a pleasant walk to the first bridge but a bit far in the heat to the second bridge and all the good eating places so recommend taxi, cyclo.. Our room was lovely with balcony and views of the river. The staff were great and happy to assist with any requests.

Excellent Experience”
La Residence is beautifully situated along the river in Hue. It has two new wings asociated with the original governor's residence. The rooms are reasonably spacious, clean and well appointed. The swimming pool is salt water and a 50 meter length, with good views of the river and an adequate bar. The staff are well trained and most attentive at lunch in the garden.

Gracious old world hotel”
my 11 year old son and i stayed at la residence in august 2011. it was very hot in hue at the time and the hotel's enormous pool was wonderful to return to after walking around the citadel and temples. the water was as warm as a bath but it was still refreshing. the rooms are lovely. the are mire modern than i expected but the central areas of the hotel retain the charm of an earlier era. the staff were very friendly to my son. the breakfast buffet is sensational. the hotel is situated very near to the railway station which is convenient if you arrive by overnight train from hanoi as we did. the hotel also accommodated us by letting us check in in the morning as the room was available. the hotel us a little way out of town but taxis and cyclos abound and are cheap.

My wife and I decided to get away for a few days to relax and reenergise. La Residence was the perfect cure. The staff is attentive and genuinely interested in making your staf as comfortable as possible. Le Perfume restaurant has some of the best food in town but is also priced accordingly. Go with the Vietnamese food if you like to manage your budget. Mrs Dong our waitress took care of our every need and turned out to be a great host. The Dutch pastry chef clearly has a passion for his art, he stopped to explain how he makes this pastries and helped us make the best selection to complete our dinner. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and look forward to return to the nicest staff we've been around for some time. Thx so much to all, Steven & Ing.
