Authenticity always”

I kidnapped my balikbayan friend who just arrived in Mnl and we headed for Laoag. She was very happy we stayed at Balay ni Blas. It is indeed a happy place. Art surrounding (greenery well cared for, unpretentious like other hotels, intense local feel) is calming. Staff are authentic (courteous and very helpful) . Well located so its easy to go about town. Food in their cafes(Saramsam and another -- the al frescoe terrace, with water flowing beside huge jars) serve food and innovative recipes(pakbet rice, pakbet pizza, poquepoque and other sought after ilocano dishes). The best empanada in town is found a a few steps away from Balay Ni Blas. We were also super fortunate to have met the owner personally. We congratulated him for spreading the love-- making Balay ni Blas the way it is.

Great Place”

The place is situated just around the town so getting around is easy. And for a spacious room with its own kitchen and bathroom the price is relatively cheap. The staff are nice and accommodating, except for the girl who checked the items in the fridge who was frowning at us. We got a bit excited that there are items in the fridge but got disappointed that you need to pay for them. Also, no free drinking water and coffee. There is also no free shampoo 🙁 So you better bring your own.

Very good”

Our bathroom had a problem, and I called the attention of the receptionist Ms. Cherish. She asked us to wait. After a while, they transferred us to a bigger room with no extra cost. Overall we are satisfied with our stay. A seafood carinderia was nearby, where we ate twice. It is also near the plaza/center. The WIFI signal also reached our room, but quite intermittently. However, breakfast had limited selection. We had a good time at Balay da Blas.

Above average”

Our room Had only 1 double bed where the aircon was situated. We did notify that we were 5 in our family. So to accomodate the 2 kids, they converted the 2 wooden chair to a bed and had a mattress to make it a bed. So the living room was now comverted to a bedroom of sorts. The problem was the aircon is not capable of making tje whole room cool enough. We had to request for 2 electric fans. The water. In the cr had low pressure so that black water or putik came out making the toilet bowl black and the tiles in the shower room dirty. Food in their resto was a little bit expensive so we opted to go find a cheaper place to eat.

Acceptable”

Nothing stood out because it is not what I expected considering it is a suite we booked. There is no phone in the room, they only provided one chair to sit in the receiving area. The masseuse does not seem certified - the young girl is only 18 y.o. and only learned from watching and some training. The staff are friendly though, but very passive. The location is hard to find and the hotel lacks parking spaces.

Friendly pension with well-appointed rooms”

Room size as exceptional and the service excellent.

we stayed for three nights at balay da blas and were quite satisfied with the service, location and room size. the hotel is away from downtown and the traffic of laoag city center, but the walk to attractions is only 15 minutes. the hotel was efficient in arranging a couple of full day, private tours for us, and all charges were consolidated on one bill. there is free wifi access, although as in most of the philippines the bandwidth is constrained, but we were able to handle e-mail and flight check-ins. since the property was patterned after a mexican hacienda, the eating area is a lovely patio in the courtyard. we would definitely stay here on future ilocos norte trips.

Great hotel to stay in Laoag.”

staff, location, room size, design, food

Balay de Blas could easily be your home away from home in Ilocos. We stayed in Balay de Blas I's Deluxe Suite for 2 days. We were surprised when we saw the 'room' because it was more like a small house. It has one bedroom, living room, bathroom, dining area and kitchen. Inspite of the heat, the room is surprisingly cool. Their staff was very accommodating. It was so hot when we arrived and I was not feeling well when we arrived. Using a plastic to hold my vomit was futile and I managed to get some of it on the sheets but they replaced it as soon as I was able to get up. Food was great. They also own Saramsam, which is one of the best restaurant in Laoag. So don't be surprised if you find that the hotel's menu is the same as the one in Saramsam. They are actually going to move the restaurant beside Balay De Blas II. We had to extend our stay and we were transferred to Balay de Blas II. The room is big and clean but there was no refrigerator. PRO/S: There are a lot of tricycles in the area and there's a 24 hour convenient store on the corner of P. Gomez and Gen Segundo Avenue. CON/S: Parking - Limited slots available. Bidet - None. Toothbrush kit - NA

very memorable stay”

great hotel, quiet, excellent service

Stayed here for a total of 11 days in March 2012. Rooms were clean. Place was also quiet. The owner invited my family and I for dinner at a place called Stone House. Thanks Sammy! It was such a memorable evening. The staff at Bala Da Blas was also great, very professional. They always greeted us with a smile. I also want to thank staff workers Nomer, Mel, Sharon, Ron, Pressy, and the other workers(I forgot their names for a most memorable stay). Will definately stay here again. We had the Deluxe Suite, it had a kitchen and living room. Very spacious and comfortable. Location of hotel is close to everything including Robinsons Mall. Breakfast was also served everymorning which was included during our stay. My favourite was the longanisa. We also ordered from their restaurant Saramsam evrything was delicious especially the poqui-poqui. La preciosa restaurant is also close by. Very good food. Went here a couple of times for dinner. Thanks Balay da Blas! Enjoyed every moment! ! !

Comfortable Stay in Laoag”

Clean Room, Attentive Staff, Close to La Paz Sand Dunes

My friends and I stayed overnight at Balay da Blas Pensionne- it was a great choice indeed in Laoag. The room is very clean (bed and its pillows are quite comfortable); it's spacious enough for the four of us. It is also worth noting that the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They helped us get settled after a very long drive from Manila and made suggestions on the Sand Dunes tour. I think though that the meals served in their in-house restaurant is a hit-or-miss.

The place to stay in Laoag”

Simple, rustic and beautiful interiors

It was "home" after 3 long days of touring Ilocos. Keep in mind the pensionne has no elevator, no telephone and wifi in rooms (only in the reception area/ground floor). The rooms are being cleaned everyday with fresh towels, the place was convenient and has their own restaurant and they can arrange tours (Laoag, Ilocos Sur/Vigan and Pagudpud/Norte). It was a trip to remember!

space room looked more like condo!

we had a very good time in balay da blas and will try to get there again! good location, like i said, very spacious, nice menu, nothing we can complain off. we had a room on the ground floor, what meant we didn't have any view, but from a hotel in the city center we were also not really expecting that... (but that you maybe can consider as a negative point...) we really enjoyed it!
