The garden in front of the rooms was unique. The porch with a hammock was gorgeous. Rooms are large and clean. Breakfast was perfect. The owners of the hotel tried to help in every need. They were very hospitable and attentive. I found this place randomly for one night. After staying then I canceled my other reservation.

Absolutely stunning”
We loved our 5 day stay at Bananaland cottages. The room was huge with separate kitchen, laundry area and a good sized bathroom. Lots of extras provided like washing powder, washing liquid, soap etc. The staff could not have been more helpful. Very useful little mini market on site which sold wine, beers, milk etc. We were sorry to leave.

Super nice cottage & lovely owner.”
The cottage was just perfect for us especially with the hammock right outside our front door. My mom took slight ill during our stay and Roslin (owner) was so sweet and brought her some medicine & ginger tea. The location is just a short 10min walk to the beach and it’s also located outside all the hustle & traffic. Thanks 🙏🏽 We’ll be back 😊

Top hotel with friendly hotel staff. They always go above and beyond to attend to any thing you need to make your stay more comfortable. Stayed there twice last year and will definitely stay there again.

Very friendly staff that seem happy to help with excursions and fun! Space is quite surprisingly large and lovely and even has a little kitchen and area to do laundry and hang dry clothes. Close enough to the action of the city center to walk but not too close to be noisy at night, was a bit of walk to beach though as you have to walk around to get to the beach but it was ok as not difficult. The price and all the other great things make up for that. The family owned feeling is very much felt and appreciated! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone!!

Staff makes your stay great”
Staff girls are really cool, helpful and lovely. All rooms are very spacious , clean and comfort. Very near to Alona beach and you can book your Bohol tours with them little cheaper compared to outside travel agencies. We didn't find any Indian restaurant near by to have some spicy food for our dinner then the staff helped us providing the necessary ingredients and vegetables to cook for ourselves in their kitchen. This turned our stay at Bananaland Cottages more comfortable. They accommodated our request to change to another room without any additional charges. We first stayed Nipahut Cottage Room is old Filipino traditional house, the challenge with this house is, ants if you throw food on the floor and moths if you switch on light in the night time. Next day, we changed to an apartment room. If we go to Bohol again, this is the place to go for sure.

Bananaland is the perfect place to stay in Alona beach. Excellent value for money, our 2 person cottage was beautiful! Electric fan and AC, refrigerator and hammock on the porch were an amazing bonus. They also have a great WiFi connection. The garden setting is very nice and so quiet compared to busier parts of the beach. Paying a small one off charge to pass through a resort on the other side of the street, as many times as we liked during our stay, was no problem at all - and made for a lovely 2 minutes walk to the beachfront. If we ever come back to Panglao, we will definitely stay here.. our only comment is that we would have loved an included breakfast (and would have been happy to pay extra per night for this) Thank you Bananaland!

A little gem of a place”
We really enjoyed our stay at bananaland cottages over the Chritmas period (5 days ) and were made very welcome by Steffan and his staff. We stayed in the main building and had a wonderful family room which was spacious,and well equiped with comfortable beds and air con,as well as a lovely balcony and hammock. The location is very close to the beach,yet far enough away to be disturbed by exterior noise,and is within walking distance of the main part of town. We spent a couple of days travelling around with a hired motor bike from the reception,and Steffan proved to be very helpfull with advice,and shared a couple of good nights chatting with him over a beer or 2 in the evening which was a laugh! Breakfast is available at a reasonable cost,its basic but very tasty as well as fresh coffee. All in all if you want to stay somewhere a little different,and are not put off by a few mosquitoes (it is Asia and you get them everywhere) then I would not hesitate to recommend bananaland....thanks

Homestay - Good for the basics ”
It’s run by a group of family members and they’ve got an impressive operation going on! The accommodation is fine, basic, clean and the cottages are nice to look at. The dogs are really cute and friendly! There’s a mart at the cottages but it’s a little pricey. It does save you a ten minute walk to the nearest convenience store though. Location isn’t ideal anymore as I understand some new resort owners came in next door and stopped the deal that allowed bananaland guests to cut through to the beach. Instead the beach is a 10-15 minute walk or 2 minute trike ride away. This didn’t bother us too much because we knew in advance from other reviewers, it would be good if bananaland updates this information online and on their signage to prevent confusion.

Pleasant budget bungalows a few minutes walk from beach”
I really liked Bananaland’s low-cost bungalows during a 3-night visit last week. Our unit was spacious and quiet and nestled in lovely garden/jungle surroundings. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The downsides of the unit were a couple power outages and low water pressure Bananaland is a few minute walk from the best side of Alona Beach – the beach’s eastern edge. Some people may be put off by dark, narrow dirt path into Bananaland –it was a bit challenging for us arriving at night -- you should not be too skittish of traveler if you stay at Bananaland. Important to note the 3-minute walk to the beach entails paying 100 php to obtain a pass (unlimited use) to cross the grounds of Alona Tropical Beach Resort and access the beach. Each time you pass through Alona Tropical Resort one must sign-in with the (friendly) resort security staff. Definitely worth saving 3x room rate vs. being on beach (and personally I preferred the scruffy charm of Bananaland)
