Nice resort but still recovering”
There were only very few hotel/resort options at Matnog, Sorsogon online, but I did read many good reviews about Bantigui. We got 1 native room and 1 triplex A. The resort was a little hard to find, no signs on the highway, and signboard at the resort itself was old and almost unreadable. But it's close to the ferry/ RoRo port, and we were wow-ed as we entered the resort... the scenery and the beach looked very beautiful. We rented 1 native room and 1 triplex room. Airconditioning in both rooms were faulty. You cant adjust it manually, they will have to go from 29 deg. celsius, and go cooler on its own. That's why they put electric fans in the rooms. The caretaker said they are still in the process of replacing their appliances as they were also badly affected by typhoon Yolanda. We ordered our dinner and breakfast in advance, and each meal was satisfying. I especially loved their sotanghon guisado. Although the availability of the seafood menu depends on whether there's fresh catch or not. The bathrooms have a nice, native design. Water pressure is low though, so you need to fill the big containers first before bathing.

No value for money, but will do for now”

No TV in the native room, which is disappointing for its price. Triplex HAD a TV but after a few minutes for watching, the screen turned green and eventually there was no video at all and you can just hear the audio. Nice little beach resort ”
My family and I stayed two nights at this secluded little beach resort off the beaten path and really enjoyed the simplicity of the experience. For those expecting or looking for a 5 star experience and white sandy beaches, this will not be the place for you...good luck finding that around the immediate area...however, if you want some seclusion and a beautiful, peaceful view then you should enjoy or get more out of this place as my family and I did. The rooms were pretty basic, but sufficient and functional, even though my little bungalow lacked hot water for my showers...and then there were some ants on the second day that I had to deal with...nothing major but I could very easily hear of some candy asses having a meltdown over it. And their food quality was good but pretty slow...if you choose to order anything off their menu I would plan ahead and give them two hours for preparation. The boat tour was awesome and an absolute must for around 3500 php.

All in one place for Matnog Island Hopping”
You can ask the caretaker to coordinate your island hopping tour for you. The resort is quite far from the "centro" so getting tricycles from the resort may be difficult. Food may be ordered from the resort itself but you may want to bring your own snacks/drinks. The Cabanas were generally clean although there were lots of moths and mosquitoes in the area. The lights were quite dim. There were times when the water pressure could not support water needs in the bathroom (shower and toilet flush).

Good location”
The room is spacious and clean, has a rustic theme. Bathroom water heater was broke which was a downer for me. There is no restaurant, only a huge dining hall. They have no menu and food is by order of your choice., you need to have an idea of common local Filipino cuisine.. (I went with tinolang manok ang sinigang na hipon) Location is directly in front of the beach which makes it easy for tourist boatmen to pick you up if you are headed to Tikling Island or Juag Marine sanctuary.

Best staff ever! I”
Of there is one thing I want to highlight about my stay is the gentleness, patience and helpfulness of all the staff. I was a solo traveller and they treated me as a princess, organizing my trip to Subic and demonstrating lot of profesionalism and patience to make my stay really comfortable. The place is also nicely located with direct access to the beach. Facilities are basic which is what I excepted.

Nice getaway”
Nice place to stay, no convenient restaurant, took about 3 hours to get food, took boat from Samar we had lots of suitcases and had to be brought to hotel by tricycle. We love our family room, steps from beach, pretty remote, food was good even if it took a few hours.

No proper front desk ”
Probably it's just off-peak season why there is no proper front desk. Good thing though is that we were allowed to check-in even though it was still 1pm. Beautiful location for beach front sunrise :)

Disgusting (NEVER AGAIN)”
We were so disappointed and upset when we found the condition of Bantigui Resort -- its overall accommodation and surroundings. The room was so rundown and filthy (we sent actual photos to Agoda). The coralled sand in front of our room have cigarette butts, dog poo and freshly opened salted egg shells (?!). The room had ants on the wall, feasting on something. The restroom had filthy buckets, dipper and had candy wrappers on the coralled flooring. This is aside from the broken reservoir sink, filthy bidet and shampoo/conditioner dispensers (which by the way is empty). The facilities were like ruins and not usable. The workers/staff are drinking beer in one of the cottages, a few steps away from our room. That was utterly disgusting and disappointing. We travelled 12 hours to have a family vacation (2 kids in tow), and it was a total fail because of this place. Just to add, there are NO proper resort staff, no manager nor supervisor to discuss our feedback to. There were only a resort help/maid that tends to everything else in the resort, and a few workers that were drinking beer in their idle time. The maid was even kind enough to leave her mobile # to us but lo and behold, she couldn't be reached when needed. Everyone didn't even look decent nor pleasing, clothing-wise (if they wore any tops at all, in the case of the guys). We were also appalled when Agoda informed us that the contact person (the family matriarch), hung up on them when she informed her that we were disappointed with the overall state of the resort -- and never picked up the phone again after that. We asked around and locals were in fact surprised that Bantigui Resort is still operational and is an Agoda merchant at that! It is not new to us that sometimes a hotel differs a little from the published photos, but in your case, it was a far cry! The place looked like it was going to close down the next day.

Incorrectly listed”
There is no wifi here contrary to the add. There is no wifi in the entire town down the road. There is not a single upstanding restaurant in the entire town. The bay is beautiful, but there isn't any decent food in the area. The 'resort' is about 1.5 km from town where you can buy water and some supplies. We ended up buying cup-noodle to survive for the four days and buying burgers from a street cart. There is a resort unlisted down the road called Stardust. That resort has developed-world standards and wifi. The dude that built it has a degree from Rutgers in the States. The Bantigui place we stayed is run by an old lady. She is nice, but can't speak english. It took a lot of explaining for her to understand we had already paid and booked online when we arrived. They had no idea we were coming. The bathroom floor is covered in loose coral with block tiles interspersed you can step on. It looks cool until you realize it's a haven for bugs, much like the bamboo stick halves screwed all across the bathroom walls. The water pressure also sucks much like everywhere we stayed in the Philippines. The water heater works for maybe 30 second blocks before breaking. If you can find the breaker box and pop the breaker on and off it sometimes makes it turn back on. The beds are decent and the exec double room is pretty big with high ceilings. It looks nice and sleeps pretty well. There are 2 big beds that can easily sleep two each. For a group of 4+ this would be a pretty affordable digg. Whoever listed this add online knows what they are doing, but when you get there it doesn't feel at all like a real hotel. It's more just some huts run an aloof retiree couple and some fisherman lackeys. The view is killer, but there is nothing resembling any kind of culture of service. The town is also devoid of any cups of coffee that are more than nescafe instant powder. This place is gorgeous and is begging for proper development. With food, coffee, and wifi it would be a lovely place. How

Exceptional”
The people were very accomodating. took care of us and prepared a fantastic meal even if we came in late. helped us arrange for an island hopping adventure where the tour guide went above and beyond what we paid her (ate Sha) to do. She took care of us very well. She made sure that my son (who is 9) was enjoying at all times. More importantly, she made sure that we were safe at all times. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Never Again”
Very dissappointed to find this place not well kept. Dogs and cats infested with tick n fleas roam the place . I am a animal lover but i had been bitten by fleas in the dining area coz the dogs and cats will come and stay under the tables everytime we eat and not a good scenario since I have 3 children with me during our stay. The restaurant filthy and surrounding beach were littered with plastic bottles and garbage. The batnroom was the most disaster coz no hot water and no water pressure.imagine I had taken a shower with just 2 liters of water. Never again I would bring myfamilyto stay in this awful place... not recommending this place to any of my friends even if the lady care taker is very nice and helpful. Their facilities were such disaster for the price I had paid for 1 night. I took the Triple room with 3 queen beds for $97 for 1night.

Scary Bridge”
Our overnight stay seems to be ok. But passing thru the bridge before getting there were a little bit scary, need a major repair. The owner were very approachable and accommodating. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

Not Applicable”
It should have been not applicable because the site did not say that we should cross this severely dilapidated bridge for what the locals say that "it should have repaired a long time ago and it was not good to cross on foot because you might fall in the holes". In fairness to the owner they sent a staff to drive our vehicle across the bridge but we did not want to risk crossing the rickety bridge especially that we have small children on board and it was already pitch dark. So we opted to stay in a hostel and leave the next day.
