Nice hotel ”
Lovely room - we got upgraded which was great. There’s no restaurant though and no breakfast on week days, which no website made clear. Once I knew that, I was able to fit round it and it was ok. I would stay here again.

Excellent Stay.”
My husband & son came to stay with you on Saturday from London to watch the Liverpool legends match. They have both told me to make sure I review this hotel & tell you how much they loved their stay. They said that the service was amazing & the staff couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming. My son also reckons its the best carvery he has ever had!! :) If we come to Liverpool again we will certainly be staying with you. Many thanks.

70th Birthday celebrations”
This is an hotel of faded Victorian grandeur but warm & inviti g all the same. The staff were very warm & welcoming & funny. The restaurant was very nice & we had wonderful meals. The buffet breakfasts were second to none & nothing was skimped on. We really enjoyed our stay & will certainly go again.

Above average”
The hotel is very noisy and caters mainly for locals. We had a room at the back of the hotel and could hear singing and shouting from the bar and garden, and also fire doors banging until 4am. We also had to go out of main doors walk through the car park to get to our room, not ideal when its raining. Arthur's restaurant is very good, food was excellent. We have complained but have yet had a reply.

Interesting weekend!”
The rooms were extremely clean and tidy as was the shower/bathroom area. It seems that there are staff shortage problems at this hotel, which is a shame. Dinner was good, but the place is simply haemorrhaging money by such extremely large portions. Luckily were able to obtain takeaway cartons, but this situation is silly, because if the. portions were a reasonable size the wasted food would be reduced. So not terribly environmentally friendly. The same for breakfast. Large amounts pre-cooked, which I did not partake of, but my husband did. I am fussy about food and avoid food that has been pre-cooked and left in hot plates and again, there was simply so much of it you could but wonder what on earth they did with all the ineveitable left-overs. The few staff that were there were very pleasant, helpful and friendly. The Directors really do need to address the situation of waste and a suitable back up plan for when staff do not turn up!

Hot under the collar”
The hotel has plenty of space for parking and looked very popular. Our group was booked into a superior room with 4 beds. After waiting for the 2pm check-in rush to calm down. We found out the booking system at the hotel said we were in booked into a double room. Showing my confirmation receipt from Agoda confirmed a system issue between Agoda and the hotel system. I was very concerned by this. After a few minutes of silent clicking, typing and nervousness, a suitable room was found. Phew! The room was what we expected, clean and somewhere comfortable to sleep. Both kitchen and bathroom we're in good working order and even an outside space was available. However, the radiators were on full which made it very uncomfortable for a hot day.

Good and bad”
Good things: location. Very easy to find, parking on site which is free and round the corner from a bus stop. Taxis very cheap! Breakfast - all slapped on the plate but was possibly the best hotel breakfast I have had. Sausages, toast, beans, tomatoes, egg, black pudding, absolutely gorgeous. Nice bar in the hotel. Not so good: we were given a twin room - had booked a double. Got moved to a double no problem, gets in the shower, no hot water. Went downstairs to reception and fair enough they were having boiler problems that day. Got moved again. This delayed us going out for a meeting so we were late; wouldn't have minded with a bit of an apology. Got moved again and on the last day the shower pressure turned to nothing so we went home lathered in soap and again, no apology. Breakfast was great - but no drink with it!! Two other guests were given keys to our room and came in late at night - were told it was their room!!!! Very embarrassing for all involved.

Lovely friendly staff always welcoming and polite, been here twice now food excellent 👍 Could do with a little more staff manning the reception/bar though never seems to be anyone there to help. But this would not stop me from going again.

Very good”
it would of been great but for the fact that one of the bedrooms had bed bugs, the hotel didn't seem to concerned like it was a regular thing. in fact after the couple complained they moved rooms but within two hours they had moved somebody else in.

No sleep!”
Do not stay here if your wanting to sleep/ rest! Pub/ restaurant adjoined seems to attract younger crowd/ locals who have no consideration for hotel users. Noise went on until 12.30am.. then we were woken at 3 &4 am by party girls coming in & again at 7am by their male friends leaving.

overnight stay in Liverpool”
It was fine for what I wanted. One of the best breakfasts I have had in a hotel for £6. It was very pleasant there & for a short break I would go back. Much cheaper than many others.

Small room, bad mattress”
this was a house converted hotel. we had a double-bed room but the room was so cramp one can hardly have the space to walk around. mattress and pillows were old - we could feel the spring on the mattress and pillows were flat. hair dryer wasn't in a good condition as it stopped working every 10 seconds while you are using it. ok to stay if you just want a roof over your head but don't expect too much of comfort

Appalling - don't bother”
Terrible. We awoke at 1.30 am to water dripping from the ceiling onto our faces. The night porter appeared to be drunk, smelling strongly of alcohol and slurring his words. He said it was the upstairs guests taking a shower and not having shut their shower door properly. He actually asked us what we wanted him to do about it! We had to ask him to go and speak to the upstairs guests, because all he wanted to do was help us move the bed away from the leak! (Never mind the safety implications of a saturated Victorian ceiling.) We complained the next morning and were told it would be discussed with the general manager, but no one came back to us. How would you feel to wake in the middle of the night with a stranger's dirty shower water dripping through the ceiling on to your face? Then when you go for help the only member of staff available appears to be drunk and has to be asked to deal with the situation rather than just shrug his shoulders and ask what we want him to do about it. On more minor notes, the room and the hallways stank of cigarette smoke. The food was average. The fruit crumble was hard and burnt on top as though it had been put under a grill. It certainly wasn't fresh. Don't waste your money or risk your safety. There are plenty of really good hotels in Liverpool; this is not one of them.
