I only stayed for one night while I was in Beppu. And this was all I needed. Close to the JR station. Comfy bed. Well equipped kitchen. Love the self-service locker system they have for before and after check out. Great staff. Thank you.

The building is kinda old and you will hear sound walking through the corridor and staircase. Feels creepy when I just arrived. The blanket is a little dusty. Soft bed - I like. It's 5 mins walk from beppu JR Station. Location wise it's good. Common area is comfortable. A room full of manga, there's a TV and even a mini 'game station'. I like it.

the guest house was very close to the station. staff were friendly and helpful but the facility is a bit old and a bit expensive bec check in time is late but they do have lockers for bags. toilets are common share

I stayed at Beppu Guest House for only one night. I arrived late in the evening. Be sure to arrive before 22:00 as the doors are locked and staff is away. When I arrived, the staff member was very helpful. She explained everything I needed to know about the facility and helped me to pick an onsen for that late of the evening (arrived at 20:00). The rooms are as they are pictured; simple and sufficient space for luggage. The bathrooms on the 2nd floor are a bit awkwardly placed but they were clean! Everything about this place reads simple, but I highly recommend it for the value as compared to the prices I saw around Beppu. Also, it’s only a 4 minute walk to and from Beppu Station which is the real prize of this guest house.

It is so clean and so well organized. I like it a lot esp. female's toilet. At night time, it was so quiet since there is a rule not to make noises after 10.00 pm. which I love so much. I was so impressed by this hostel. The location is good. From the Beppu Station, you can reach this place in 5 minutes. From here, I walked to Seawave Hotel (near Beppu station) to use Onsen (500 yen) every evening. But the mattress is too soft. It is not good for people with backpain. And the Tatami mat in the room is a bit old.

Convenience, clean hostel with helpful staffs”
Really convenience, just 6 min walk from Beppu station with my luggage. About 10 min walk to famous old style onsen "竹瓦溫泉" , there is a big store selling electronic goods which is similar to big camera. Tolilet and shower room is clean and new, laundry machine is good with a open drying place at the rooftop. Kitchen is big. There are some famous restaurants with good food!!! Especially the Mitchuya みつやwhich serve 豊後牛. Staffs are helpful. Please remember to check out punctually.

Great place with a good range of facilities”
The staffs have very limited English – frequently needed to resort to hand signs. The location is great being only a 5 minute walk from the Beppu train station. Had an interesting incident regarding my booking. I booked a 4-bed dormitory but was placed in an 8-bed dormitory. I pointed this out and after some hesitation was given a bed in a 4-bed dormitory only to be requested (very politely) that evening to change to another 4-bed dormitory in the morning. But I was doing some early morning sight-seeing so I packed my luggage and left it downstairs. However, when I returned in the afternoon the office was closed and I had to wait for it to open to be allocated my room and bed number. All rather annoying. If you want to cook, the kitchen is great – lots of pots, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery and gas burners. Tea is complimentary. Lots of other free things – WIFI, desk-top computer, bicycle, washing machine and washing powder. Beppu has nice scenery but is very built up. Check out a dip in a hot spring – enquire at the desk for a budget one. If you have a chance go to Yufuin by train (can use JR pass).

A cozy abode in paradise”
This is definitely the nicest hostel I've ever been to. To everyone who has the opportunity, I recommend choosing their mountainside house. I've been here twice, and both times they let me switch to the mountainside room without any problem and provided me shuttle service going there. There are some Hotsprings in waking distance to the mountain place that I strongly recommend, especially the one that is a bit further (about 20 min. walk). That one is open until 2am by the way. The owner and the staff are incredibly helpful and nice and the rooms are very comfortable and spacious by Japanese standards. In the cold season (which is pretty much always - Nikko is sometimes called the "fridge" of the Kanto region), they have heating blankets. The mountainside house has a very nice common area with cozy couches, guitars and a huge TV. I could never hang out there a lot, but I imagine it would be a super relaxed hangout for everyone trying to get away from the stressful Tokyo life. Only downside: The price. But hey, it's still the cheapest in the area, and considering that, it is far better than anything I expected.

I recommend Beppu Guesthouse because I had a great stay. Although the facilities are quite old, the staff is very helpful and I got everything I needed. They also provide free wifi access, free coffee and water.

It was super near the beppu station. Had a great ramen store just a min walk from it. Near the a few decent onsens. Staff was pretty helpful but the building was probably abit old. So walking through.the walkway and stairs would.produce alot of creaking noises. Had privacy curtains. Overall.really.value for money

A hostel in Beppu”
Standard tatami room, small with little comfort. This is an old house; can be loud if other guests are not being careful with slamming doors, etc. Common areas, shared kitchen, washing machine, internet, shared bathrooms. I had stayed in another hostel by the same owner where I felt really welcome. In Beppu the staff only does the absolute minimum to check people in and clean the premises. They are not interested in what people do or need. Reception is unmanned until check in time at 4pm. But you can put your stuff in free lockers in the meantime.
