A decent deal”
Good value for the price that I paid. Clean and tidy though a lick of paint wouldn’t go amiss. I couldn’t rate the facilities as I stayed during the lockdown period. Friendly and helpful staff. Thanks guys! A five minute walk to the train station and another few to the town centre. I’d stay there again.

Good”
The location was great for where I wanted to be. The room was clean and warm. there was no option of a cooked breakfast but the local town has cafes etc. to choose from. Staff were friendly.

You get what you pay for”
Cheap no frills accommodation. Rooms are very small and run down but clean, bathrooms don't have proper ventilation so they tend to smell after use. The walls are thin so you can hear all the other rooms/guests. Staff are friendly and helpful but they appear to have taken over the place recently and don't have much experience in managing a hotel. The bar is almost non-functioning; I ordered a Guiness and they gave me a can which was flat and warm, and the fosters tap was full of air so they struggled to pour a pint. There is no restaurant and guests can't use the hotel kitchen. Breakfast is an extra 5 euro and is very basic; yoghurt cereal and toast. Beware of transport to Inverkeithing, it's fine on most days (train to city and bus to airport) but does not run on public holidays, ubers are 30 quid from the airport and 45 quid from Edinburgh centre. Inverkeithing itself is a quaint area with nice walks but there are no restaurants or bars, and only a really basic supermarket.

cosy but old with room for improvement ”
Cosy room with ensuite. The area is very quiet off the road but all the floor boards creek in the room, in the corridors and stairs, not very pleasant when done guests go out at 5am. Also the windows only have a thin curtain and could do with a black out blind as the room gets really light at 5.30am. Staff are very courteous and friendly

Not happy”
Was harassed for payment even tho I had a receipt for payment 2 days earlier. The manager even text me at 10.30pm to say they had just been knocking on the door for card details. Definitely won't be back

Not What We Expected”
Pictures in booking website looked good but in reality the facilities were in much need of upgrading. Mould in corners of bathroom ceiling. Room looked very ‘tired’ and dingy. Carpets very old and grubby looking with rough joints in corridor. Staff member at check in was helpful and polite but that was the only good point about this accommodation I’m afraid. Unfortunately it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. 😟

Avoid if you can”
Last minute cheap booking. Location was good near the train station and free parking. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and needs replacing, we could feel all the springs, on the first night we slept on top of the duvet to make the bed more comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was extremely low. We heard lots of noise from other rooms/banging doors. Room was very small, with dubious marks on the walls - needed painting and old carpet replacing. Gulls were nesting in the ceiling and there was water dripping into corridor.

Acceptable”
I decided to book this lodge as I had an early flight and despite the negative reviews . The room was ok: paying £26 I knew it was not being luxurious , so I cannot say anything about the room itself . As soon as I walked in I looked at the bed and saw hair on the pillow . Not mine of course . Hygiene should be compulsory ; and even more so during a pandemic . I slept uncomfortably , thinking at the possibility the linen had not been changed from the previous lodger ;but I drove more than 5 hours and I had only few hours available . Never again

Acceptable”
Been there at the begining of the year. Mold all over the shower, mold smell in the room. They switched off heating at night so it was about 5 degree in the room in the morning. Not recomended.

Run down, dirty.”
The only thing going for it was the price. The place was dirty, cramped and in dire need of professional maintenance.

Boreland Lodge Hotel”
Stayed at the boreland lodge as it was close to Edinburgh (roughly 15mins on the train). The hotel had a bar and served meals but we only ate breakfast(which was fine). On the whole our stay was pleasant enough with the staff very helpful and friendly but i wouldn't agree that its a place for a romantic getaway as the double room we booked was very basic and cramped and the place could do with upgrading.
