Find hotels near Meguro in Tokyo, Japan

For our first trip to Tokyo, we wanted a luxury hotel that wasn't part of an international chain - something in a neighbourhood that would be less tourist-y and more "local". Our son's Japanese colleagues suggested the Meguro Gajoen and although it wasn't on our travel agency's list of Tokyo hotels, we decided to go for it. Turns out it was the perfect choice. First of all, the hotel décor is absolutely sumptuous with magnificent mural frescoes and other Japanese artwork everywhere you look (even the bathrooms!). A cascading waterfall, tiny bridges over little brooks ... the lobby is exquisite. You feel immediately like you are in the heart of Japan. The week we were there, there was a floral art exhibition and Japanese aficionados turned out to see the creations of one of Japan's most popular artists. The hotel is a popular spot for weddings, so we enjoyed watching joyful families arrive for wedding ceremonies. The hotel breakfast was fabulous, with Japanese and European choices. And the huge rooms are beautifully appointed with high quality materials and amenities - top notch luxury. I can't say enough about this hotel! Add to that its location 5 minutes from the subway. Meguro Subway station seems off the beaten track, but in fact it's very convenient. The Yamanote line runs around the city and takes directly you to all the best tourist sites. It's an above-ground train line that is much more pleasant than the subway. There are tons of restaurant options at Meguro and even more at the next stop Ebisu. These are areas of Tokyo that are more residential, so you see families and people going about their business - as opposed to Shinjuku, Ginza and the Tokyo station areas that are more for business.

The place was perfect for our family. The price is affordable with great value. Nice bed. Nice shower. Lots of facilities in the room: kitchen, washing machine, hair dryer even trousers folder! The room is small but comparing the other rooms offer in Agoda with similar price (or higher) this is slightly bigger. The area is near station. Only 3 mins walk. Tho Yutenji is not the main line and you need to change line mostly in Shibuya or Naka Meguro, but it's easy. And it's near many eatery options (even KFC, McD) and stores such as Tokyu Store, Family Mart & 7 Eleven. It's a quiet neighborhood.

Even with the slightly smokey smelling room, this place was great. It's probably the best hotel I stayed in on my 23 day trip (4 nights here at the B). The location is great, it's really quick and easy to get to Shibuya (which is what I based my search on). I originally booked 2 nights, as I didn't know where else I was going to be staying. The 3rd and 4th mornings I went down to the lobby and booked another night on the spot, with no problems. I'll probably re-book this place when I go back to Japan for a few nights, as well. The location alone is worth the money.

This hotel is not located in Shibuya, but in Meguro-ku, though on the border between the two places, so don't expect this hotel to be really close to the shopping and party district in Shibuya. It's not much of a walk, but it might be tricky to find your way back without a decent map since none of the locals had ever heard of it. The upside to this is that you don't get disturbed by the sounds of the city during the night. All in all, a good stay, nice staff and well worth the money!

But seriously this is a very clean, and efficient hotel in Tokyo. It's proximity to the Meguro Station and Yamanonte Line make it a great option to other more costly areas. There is no food at the hotel however there are a number of restaurants in walking distance and it is right next door to a starbucks for that morning cup of coffee. The rooms are small, so if you are two people you should be very close. However I have stayed all over Tokyo and unless you pay a premium you will likely get a small room for your dollar. If you are working of visiting everything is just a train ride away, the staff is very helpful and courteous and there were English speakers available during my stays here. This is my third stay at this hotel so I can recommend it on good faith, I am privy to Mandarin Oriental and Park Hyatt (of movie fame) and if you want a luxurious stay this is not it, but if you want to use those extra hundreds/thousands for a few more days in Japan this is good alternative. Airport access, mostly - take the Keikyu line from the airport (Haneda) to Shinagawa then the Yamanonte line to Meguro Station. Optionally use Uber it's a decent value for the money here. rooms are small but clean, unfortunately the air condition system was turned off in the building as it was november which meant the room was stuffy at night but staff were friendly and helpful. there is 1 restaurant next to the hotel and a convenience store but there are not lot of restaurants near the hotel but the hotel is only 1 stop from shibuya station and is located right in front of train station.

I was able to spend comfortably in this room. It was Mix dormitory, but has privacy of each bed is ensured. And it was also good relationship with the sharing of people. There is a locker for your valuables, it was also safe when the room in absence to leave luggage. Bed is equipped with a hand lighting, I was able to be a simple note. Wi-Fi was also led to the comfortable. Meguro Station is available JR Yamanote Line and underground, it was convenient to go to wherever. I really recommend you to stay here. Price is also reasonable!! Thank you very much!!

I asked for a place to stay and asked them, they got me pleasantly OK. I got announcements that they will not get lost from them. It is near from Meguro Station. The bathroom is spacious. There is a hairdryer, a refrigerator and an individual locker, which is suitable for a short-term stay. Each bed has a divider. There is a bed side light. Wireless LAN connects without stress. It is recommended. Thank you.

The place is quite a walking distance from the nearest subway station, about 650m, a 10-15mins walk.It's slightly tough when you have big luggages to push as the pathway from subway to house is narrow. There is a bustop just 50m from the house. Plenty of convenience stores near the house, and also dining places, although non-halal. It's quiet at night but safe. There are no washing machines or dryer but a coin laundromat is available 400m away. The house itself is small but cosy. Heating is only available in the living/dining area. 1 bedroom, 2 toilets and 1 shower. More sleeping space is available at the living area. Fully equipped with small but sufficient kitchen along with cooking utensils and dinnerware, and a fridge. The house is small but sufficient for our family of 4. Well-maintained and clean. Wifi was strong and good. We were pleasantly surprised and appreciative of a smartphone for local use, equipped with data for getting your way around, but not for phonecalls of course.
