We stayed only one night in the Hotel, but we were extremely satisfied! We wish we could have stayed longer! The staff was super kind, and helped us in everything that we asked for! We lost our pushchair on the flight and they provided another one for us, that in the end we could take with us as we had to travel further. The room was a bit small for us, though we were in 3 with a baby, but it was nice that the shower and the toilet facilities were inside. The hotel stays in a nice and pleasant area, close to a shopping center, and we could take a bus to the city center which took around 8-10 minutes, so the location was also perfect! We definitely recommend it to everybody, for singles, couples or for families!

We had one of the garden level rooms and it was quiet, fairly spacious and had a lovely bathroom. The wifi was the best we had in our two weeks traveling around Scotland and we appreciated the bit of sherry left in the room for the guests. We were tired on arrival and decided to have dinner at the hotel our first night which was not only surprisingly good, but at extremely reasonable prices. The included breakfast was also good, though on Sunday, service was a bit slow due to the full dining room. The hotel is a bit more than 1.5 miles from the main tourist areas of Edinburgh and we enjoyed the quiet walk back and forth, though buses are available. The staff were consistently friendly and we received some helpful advice for our touring, including discount coupons for the sightseeing bus tours. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

We were very happy with our stay. Room was very clean. Great service, very friendly and helpful staff. Bus stop directly infront of the guest house. Walking distance into city centre around 25-35min. Bus around 10-15min. The only thing we think that could be improved is to offer breakfast. But we knew that this wasn't included in the stay. Supermarkets and Cafes in walking distance (between 10 and 15min).

An excellent stay. We stayed for a week and had a great visit. Rhona and her staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Facilities were brilliant: lovely room, comfortable bed, clean, great bathroom and big shower. Breakfast was cooked fresh and there was a big selection to choose from including french toast, omlettes, salmon, croissonts and more! Can't fault it at all: book with confidence. The room was comfortable but the TV didn’t work, nor could I turn on the heater. I did not ask for help from staff, so it is probably my fault. The shower is tiny. It’s so humid the towels didn’t dry overnight. That’s where the heater would have been nice. The breakfast was serviceable but convenient. Small cafe and Tesco Express are only a block and a half away. So still recommended with these conditions. Very nice and accommodating staff.

best night's sleep on my trip! the bed was super comfy, and the room was quiet--peaceful hotel. the room was charming, the bathroom spotless and sparkling; breakfast was generous and tasty--plenty of choice! i was fussy for fried eggs and that was not a problem. the staff was accommodating and couldn't do enough for me! they helped me out with my tour and taxi, plus directions and sightseeing hints. i'd go back to ben doran in a heartbeat, and edinburgh is such a terrific city that i can't wait to go back. i felt safe and at home at ben doran.

We stayed 2 nights in this guesthouse. Really lovely decoration during Christmas period. Scottish traditional style. The owner are so friendly and helpful, last day we had to check out before the breakfast time and they offered to make sandwiches for us , so that we can eat something in the bus. 20mins walk to city center or 5mins in the bus, every bus goes to city center , so don't worry, you won't be lost

Really enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh at the blossom, it's well run with friendly staff, good quality breakfast, help with local knowledge on how to get around and extremely close to the main attractions. I highly recommend it to any travellers going for a short or extended stay. Only small improvement required would be to the wifi stability. Thanks for the hassle free stay. Regards Craig

My wife and I are a middle-aged couple from South Yorkshire, UK. We stayed at the Alba Hills from a Friday to Sunday late in June. We were given a brilliant welcome by the host who went out of his way to make our stay comfortable, down to providing a printout of the buses from Alba Hills to the city centre - as we had arrived by train. The waitress who served us was very anxious to please the guests. The saddest part was having to leave Alba Hills...

We were fortunate enough to get one of the few parking spots at the back, and the rainy misty journey soon gave way to a friendly welcome from our landlady. Whilst we were perfectly positioned to eat our breakfast and then take the short walk into town, our dedicated lady of the house spends her day making sure the house is a home for all her guests. It makes such a difference having somewhere that feels like you are coming home at the end of a busy day at the zoo, and all the other places we spent our week. Would definitely stay there again!

The distance between the railway station and the guesthouse is fine, it takes 30 mins on foot. The guesthouse is clean and tidy. The room is big and comfortable. The shared washroom is warm and clean. Travelers who lived in the guesthouse are polite and kind. The host provides clear instructions about how to get into the guesthouse if you have a late check in. There are 2 big beds in the room if you book a single room for 2 travelers. It is reminded that each person have to book for 1 single bed. If you want to share a single bed with your friend, you better book 2 beds. The host reminded us that It is not okay to share a single bed with your friend although it is a big bed. We have some miscommunication with the host on this issue during the travel.The rule in the guesthouse is strict. It is better to communicate well with the host before hand. Generally, it is a comfy and clean place to stay in Edinburgh.
