Find hotels near Sugamo in Tokyo, Japan

I booked a non-smoking twin room. The hotel is not located in the popular area so I can rest after shopping really well plus the hotel is so close to the station just 1-2mins walk from Sugamo station and so easy to go to other where else in Tokyo cause Sugamo is in Yamanote line(the loop line that run around Tokyo in a circle, pass many tourist attraction and able to transfer to other line and subway easily) The room was cozy and looks chic. And there's many sockets!! 2sockets on the bed wall, 2sockets on the dressing table, 1socket under the mini refridgerator and 1sockey in the bath room. There is 2 convenience stores around (7-11 and Family mart), 24hours food shop nearby and also Matsumoto kiyoshi, a drug store for cosmetics shopping. The JP post office is right next to the hotel, this place you can withdraw your money(most of JP post office have an ATM corner(actully the post office is red but if there's a ATM it'll be a green sign next to the red one), I reccommend to use because the exchange is lower than other banks(a fee is cheaper than using ATM in 7-11 or lawson too) and easy to find. The staff are so helpful, after check-out they can keep your luggages till 9pm on that day.

Here are the pros: (1) It is within 3min walk from JR Sugamo Station. Taking the JR Yamamoto Line from there, you can reach Shinjuku Station within 15min. (2) Many nice restaurants nearby which sell at a reasonable price. The Seiyu supermarket which opens 24hr is within 1min walk. (3) Staff are polite and helpful. Room was tidy and clean. The central heating was strong enough. There are microwave oven and laundry machines on the 8/F. Facilities are great. The only cons I could think of is the location. Sugamo is a convenient location to stay at when you aim to visit the middle-upper half of Tokyo (e.g. Shinjuku, Harajuku, Ueno, Imperial Palace, Hibiya, etc.). It will take you just 15-25mins. If you go further south (e.g. Roppongi, Tsukiji Fish Market, Odaiba, etc), it will take you 45-60mins. For the avoidance of doubt, this is NOT the fault of the hotel. The hotel itself is really really great. But please make sure you take into account the transportation time of your trip.

best place I stayed in my Japan trip in terms of comfort! it was very clean and warm, shared rooms were like a faux capsule hotel, being surrounded on all sides was nice and made the individual sections quieter than usual. fantastic location, you can easily get a short train to the action on the east of tokyo(like shibuya etc.) or the West side (ueno, akihabara) as it's right in the middle and super close to sugamo JR station. it wasn't very social when I stayed, but 10/10 would definitely stay again!!!

Best price, I believe this is the cheapest hostel in Tokyo city centre. Wonderdul location if you carry the JR pass. Located on the outskirt of metro system. Room is relatively clean. It really depends on the people whom you share the room with. I think I got lucky and stayed in the dorm room on first floor, separated from the main building. The guys sharing the same room were always quiet. They don't really have an reception. The checkin was pretty confusing. The staff stays in one of the private rooms, it's on the 2nd floor in the main building. You knock on his door and wait for him to come out and show you the bed that you will be staying in. Tiny "common area". They have a small fridge and microwave oven for guests. Considering the price per night, can't complain.

This place is not for people who read reviews. This small, thin-walled, three bedroom apartment sitting directly above a snack bar gives out ear plugs for all of its patrons due to it being open until 4am on some nights. The staff are only there long enough to clean and then leave. As a result of this, if you book with them then you must pay online and then they will send you a four code to enter the hostel. No one in the area seems to know that this place exists and aside from a small sign I found only by reading every sign on that street corner. The other facilities (toilets, showers, etc.) are good and if you are only staying here to adventure around Tokyo as a solo traveler as I was, (essentially only using the hostel as a storage place and a pilow) then this place is for you. It has great access to Komagome station and a wonderful community with great food and convenience stores. But the snack bar is why the ratings for this hostel are so low.
