Best hotels & accommodations in Ueno

We stayed at MIMARU TOKYO UENO INARICHO for four nights because of its good reviews, and boy! It did not disappoint us at all. The staff was helpful and polite. More importantly, they speak fluent English, so you don't need to worry about not speaking Japanese. The location of the hotel is perfect for traveling around Tokyo, especially if you arrive at Narita intern...

I thought Nippori is like a province in Japan far from the business districts and tourist spots in Japan. Apa Hotel TKP Nippori is 5 mins walking distance from the Nippori Station and has direct access train going to Narita and the semi bullet train they call the Keisei Skyliner. If u want to experience a traditional Japanese place this is the right venue, quiet place ...

Pro: Sardonyx Ueno Hotel is accessible location near the Ueno Station either JR and the metro train. It is, especially, closed by the Ameyoko market; only few steps to walk then you can enjoy shopping life there every night. Hotel’s staffs are supportive. If you arrived by the morning flight, don’t worry any longer!! Staying here, you could leave your luggage then foll...

I would definitely recommend the APA Hotel Keisei Ueno-Ekimae to any traveler and I would stay there again. My single, non-smoking room was very small. However, it will not deter me from staying there again. The location is great! It is very convenient to travel to and from the Narita Airport via the Keisei Skyliner, The hotel was literally starring me in the face wh...

Love staying in Ueno when visiting Tokyo. This is a new hotel so thought I'd try it. It did not disappoint at all! The hotel is just a few mins' walk from the Keisei station. Great location for food and shopping and all the subway stations nearby. It was so easy getting around. Hotel check in was a breeze. Took about 1 min. The optional breakfast is provided by the w...

The white facade Centurion Hotel Ueno ( much newer ) where we are checked in is a small boutique-y , modern feel Hotel in Ueno. I like our room. It has a sofa bed and a bunk bed, the space is small for 3 people but manageable. Cozy interior and a good size toilet. Wifi available. Staff were polite and friendly. When we checked in, we went to the other Centur...

There are more than 3 centurion hotel in Ueno. This one locates near JR Ueno, 3mins walk. They don’t provide next day luggage storage only before 6pm but you may find coinlocker in JR Ueno (Asakusa side), rimowa27” and rimowa sport are ok with the size(¥600/¥800 per day) There is bunk bed in Casual double room, up one is single bed and the down one is double room. This Japan only chain was very close to Ueno train station. Coming from Narita it is an easy walk to hotel. They include an iphone for use during your stay for free. It includes internet access and free calls within JP and to USA. This is a big added plus. Hotel has wired and wireless access. Property is 1 year old so everything new. Includes free coffee anytime and a ...

Ueno Hotel is really good! It was my first time to travel with my husband alone, and my first time to book a hotel. I was very impressed by Ueno Hotel! We can eat at the lobby full of tables and chairs, free flowing coffee, tea and water! there's even a microwave to heat your convenience store food!!! <3 And everyone in the hotel was super nice. 10/10 would go back! <3...

There are alot of small restos around and just 12 mins. walk the ueno park adn zoo is already there. ameyoko also is near ueno park. good food. different varieties. Gkyukatsu motomura resto in ameyoko is a must try resto. small resto though but superb meat!!! I will surely go back to JAPAN and try some other mimaru tokyo hotel branches! the people are so nice and respe...

Sakura Hotel was fantastic. Close to Sendagi station & nishi-nippori station (both within about 5 mins walk), easy walking distance to Ueno. The accommodation was fantastic, modest & simple Japanese style rooms, bathrooms are clean & all staff are very courteous, friendly & helpful. The neighbourhood has a bunch of little bars/eateries/cafes & stores, but is very quie...

We chose this hotel because it's near the Ueno Station (8 min. walk) and Keisei Line/Sky Liner (12 min. walk) and the price was reasonable in spite of the date when we booked it. We had a smooth and fast transactions when we checked-in and checked-out. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. There's no time that we didn't see them not smiling. Our room is alw...

I definitely feel that I chose a great hotel for the following reasons: 1) This hotel is brand new, opened early in 2015, which meant that everything is new and clean. This hotel was the CLEANEST hotel I've ever been in all my travels. The bathroom was so clean, I did not see a speak of mildew! 2) Great location! I loved that this hotel was right near Ameyokocho shop...

I stayed here for 5 days as it is convenient to go to Ueno or Tokyo for shinkansen. The town of Ueno-Okachimachi is great for shopping both for fresh food (sashimi) and cheap cuisine and fashion. The hotel is a little bit behind the market zone so it is quiet at night. Hotel is clean inside and outside the room. Laundry service is available by 200 yen totally. The lig...

In Ueno, there aren't many decent star rated hotels, this is one of the rare few. From Keisei skyline station (assuming you arrive at Narita airport), it's only a 10 minute walk, or a very short taxi ride (no more than 600 yen, or less). Hotel has room at decent size (for Japan), very clean, very helpful staffs at check in. Bed is comfortable with great pillow, room ...

I greatly enjoyed my stay. The staff were always helpful and the place was always spotlessly clean. The facilities (kitchen, lounge, bathrooms, showers, laundry) were all first rate and the best I've seen in a budget hotel. My room was very comfortable, it had a nice wide screen TV, a bar fridge, and a desk. The only possible complaint is that the room was definitely ...

I always ask for a large room because my kid likes to bounce around the room. This was one of the largest room for this price. The other reason was location. The nearest train station (Nippori) has the Keisei Skyliner Express train to Narita. The train runs every 45 minutes or so, and the trip takes about 45 minutes. Very convenient. Connecting train to Asakusa is a...

My first time booking a hotel in Tokyo and it was beyond my expectations - Hotel Parkside Tokyo in Ueno. The hotel is about 5 mins walk away from Ueno station and right in front of Ueno Park and still witness some Sakura flowers. We arrived a bit early and the checkin time is around 2 PM so we have to leave our luggages and we can do early checkin and just pay later an...

I stay in female room only and it was great. Nice garden, many facilities, hot stone for footh, face steamer, microwave, massage chair. Eventhough no sauna or onsen, but many toilet and bathroom. Spacious, quiet, clean, cooperative neighbour, good price, close to keisei train if you want to take early train to narita airport. I have tried three hotels in ueno and this ...

We only stayed for 1 night, The hotel with perfect location in quiet area, only few mins walk to all restaurants and shops in Ueno. Reception is nice, with every amenities. The room looks newly renovated and especially the bathroom is very clean. The bedding and pillow is so comfortable (not too soft). LAWSON/FamilyMart is just downstairs opposite.Good price compari...

The reason for us booking this hostel was to have that capsule hotel experience and I'm glad we picked this hotel to experience it. They provide you with all the toiletries essentials so you don't really need to carry anything. The location is great, just 5 mins walks from the Ueno station and literally next to the Ueno park. Our room looked out to Ueno park and we wer...

From Narita airport, all you have to do is board the Keisei Skyliner Train bound for Keisei-Ueno station. As soon as you exit ticket gate (there's only one ticket gate) from the train of Keisei-Ueno, there are two terminal exits: the Ikenohata and the Main. On your right is the Ikenohata Exit and on your left is the Main Exit. Take the IKENOHATA Exit so climb up the fe...

Hotel New Tohoku situated at the commercial side (East) of Ueno Station. This implies you can avoid the crowded tourist side (South West) of the station but still enjoy the benefit, 5 minutes walk can do. The hotel sounds to me a family run business with extremely helpful and friendly staff, all well spoken English. The hotel occupies entirely a 3 storey building, n...

A tight little room with a tighter little bathroom, but everything worked and the bed was comfortable. Stayto (formerly Oak Hotel) is a hostel with some private rooms. The guests were a mix of Japanese and foreigners. The two beds in our room took up most of the space, but it was all quite workable. The bathroom was not much bigger than airplane bathroom, but with a ...

Perfectly located (280m to Inaricho Station; 900m to Ueno station and thus, Ueno Park, Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo Science and Nature Museum, Ueno Zoo, Shinobazu Pond, etc.) so it was easy to get around. Quiet neighborhood with quaint houses and shrines. Plenty of convenience stores, groceries and restaurants nearby. Very clean and comfortable. We got a queen-sized ...

We were a group of 8 person (booked 4 rooms) stayed at the hotel for 2 nights mid December 2016 before going to mt. Fuji. Location is excellent! 5 mins walk from Keisie skyliner station, metro & Ueno JR station, lots of restaurants & 24 hours convenience stores nearby. Hotel staff is super helpful and very polite. Receptionist mostly can converse in English, there's...

I had a very good stay here. Perfect location - just a 3 minute walk from UEno JR station (Asakusa exit), yet it is quite enough at night and in the morning. I must say the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. They let me keep a big baggage 1 day prior to check-in and after check-out. Also they are very welcoming and speak English quite well. The only thing I d...

I chose Candeo Hotel Ueno-koen because it was close to Ueno Park, the museum district. I was pleased to find that it was right around the corner from Uguisudani station, so getting anywhere in Tokyo was simple. Walking distance to Asakusa shopping and Ueno Park were also big bonuses for me. I was very impressed and pleased with the staff, who were attentive, helpful...

Located in Ueno, one of the best areas to stay for travellers. There are many options around to explore in short time like Ueno Park hosting many national and art museums, natural sources and even a zoo. We were so lucky that we were able to see an exhibition to see the paintings of Van Gogh, Monet, Modigliani, Picasso. Munch and a fish contest. Hostel is neighbour of ...

stay here for 5 nights, lived in 4F, 10 beds share 2 shower rooms. A little far from Ueno station (10-15 minutes, for me it's pretty "little"), and you should lift luggage upstairs by yourself. If those issues don't bother you, then it's your best hostel choice in Ueno, especially when you want to save money, or plan to frequently visit the museums in Ueno Park. Walk i...

You couldn't ask for better from a very cheap and convenient capsule hotel. It was just a short walk from Ueno station and the staff were very nice - they even escorted me to my capsule! Just be aware that there is another capsule hotel very close by called "Capsule & Sauna Century" (not "New Century"). I walked into the wrong place at first!

Conveniently located, nearer to Ueno metro station than Ueno-hirokoji as indicated. Was a nightmare maneuvering through the Ameyo street crowd with a luggage from Ueno-Hirokoji station. Exit from Ueno station exit 5b, turn left and walk straight down instead, away from the crowd. Pros: Like the meals, facilities and cozy privacy in the capsule, Staff speak good Engl...

it's near inaricho station & ueno station, ameyoko market, shitaya shrine where i saw the grand festival there on 11-13 may 2018, it's interesting event at shitaya shrine. i am very happy to be part of it. i fell the hotel is like my own home i can use kitchen anytime :) it's very clean, and the staff is very nice i am very happy to stay in uno ueno hotel

Basically, this place is an apartment turned into a mini hostel, so expect to feel like you're visiting a friend in Tokyo. Kitchen, fridge and a TV (if you really need it) are at your disposal. The young fellow who works there is cool and friendly, but he has another job so he won't be there all the time. It's only a 5 minute walk to Nippori train station, with good con...

Well decorated, comfortable beds, powerpoints and small lockers in each room, lots of showers and bathrooms without waiting, with face wash, shampoo, body wash, green tea, hot water, kitchen, fridge and computers. Reception staff are super helpful and speak English. I enjoyed staying here. I made the mistake of taking the JR to Ueno which is the major station, it's q...

Due to a pretty "full-booked Tokyo", the Capsule Kinuya Hotel Ueno was my accommodation for one night in the city. The hotel is located near Ueno station and there's of course plenty to see and do in the area. No disappointments at the hotel, as one knows to expect a somewhat different kind of accommodation. Great staff, the capsule was clean and comfortable to sleep i...

clean and neat for a capsule hotel, spent 2 nights there with a good connection of Wifi.. the only thing that would be a surprise for me is the public bathing place which turns out to be a custom in Japan. I consider it as a new experience. Overall, the hotel is worth the price and will be a good option if your travelling alone.

The location of hotel was excellent. It is close to JR Ueno and Inaricho Station. Family Mart, Lawson and 711 stores were also nearby. Don’t expect too much from the room because it is just fair for the price. I really like the room assigned to us in the 9th floor. It was so clean, the pillows and bed were really comfortable. The view was amazing! The staffs were very ...

I stay for 3 night with 2 of my friend and taking the 3person per a room. The place is about 5minute walking from Inaricho station (Ginza line). Ginza line connect directly to Ueno, Asakusa and Shibuya so it's convinient for me since it's near Shinkansen and city center. During my stay I never met the staff, but that is not a problem at all. Our room already unlocked q...

Initially we had some problems finding the ryokan because we did not have any wifi access. After having traveled down from Hakone, we were pretty tired out. So we decided to approach a family mart, luckily the cashier know how to speak chinese and he could sense that we're lost. Stayed in twin bed room, was comfortable. Room is just about average in size for typical Tokyo hotel room. Only 1 lift serving 3 floors of rooms and it is quite small. simple hotel with good location as its near the nippori station and sendagi. not hard to find. near a street market where you can buy lots of things and food. will consider this again when we get back. compared to different 4 star hotels ive stayed in for the past 9 days, this hotel has the best amenity kit shampoo conditioner body wash.

The place was clean and indeed very close to a subway station. It has 7/11 nearby and restaurants. The thing that we like the most is the massage chair!! The heater in the shower was very hot but you just need to adjust it the same way on how typical heaters work. So if you do not know how to use a heater maybe you can refer to the guide book. Will definitely book this...

It’s a very nice location near the station and shopping spot in Ueno. The room is very tiny for 4 persons but it’s fine if you stay just only for sleep at night. And the host is very kind, he allowed us to keep our luggages at the apartment after check-out.

Kitchen area with sofa bed has pungent smell. Toilet curtain was so dirty and the overall toilet cleanliness could be improved. Very near to okachimachi and ueno station. Love the location. For those who is very particular about cleanliness, I will not recommend this room.

More about Ueno
Both Asakusa and Ueno were busy hubs during the Edo Period, and they offer a mix of historic sites, traditional markets and modern infrastructure. One of the most popular places to get out and enjoy the district is Ameyoko market street (near Okachimachi metro station), with its affordable food and knock-off designer fashions. Other tributes to feudal Japan include the Edo Tokyo Museum and Sumo Stadium, where competitions are still regularly staged.
Nearby Akihabara district is a magnet for high-tech shoppers. This is where to buy everything form the latest gadgets to newly released manga and anime. This district continues to revamp itself as international interest in Japanese anime increases. The real show is on Sundays when the Cyuo Douri avenue is closed to vehicles and gets flooded by anime fans wearing costumes of their favorite characters. Hotels in Akihabara capitalize on the manga craze with themed rooms and targeted publicity.
One of the most important retail centers in the area is Sun Street Kameido. This complex is stacked with shops and restaurants, but it also has a community performance stage that brings the locals out for school shows and other events. Asakusa Rox is also a popular place to shop, close to Asakusa metro station and Sensoji Temple.
Hotels in Ueno / Asakusa / Akihabara district are well-connected to the rest of Tokyo thanks to JR rail hubs at Tabata, Nishi Nippori and Uguisudani station. Most of the main commercial areas are within walking distance of local metro stations, so visitors will find using public transportation easy.
