A good short stay”
I was welcomed warmly as I walked into reception, and dealt with promptly, and courteously. Room was tidy, and warm, with a selection of teas and coffee, I was with a large group, and had an evening meal from the set menu. The food was nice and hot, well presented, and tasty too. I highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding. with great service, and plenty of drinks throughout the evening. Had a good night sleep in a comfortable bed, and finished my stay with a hearty breakfast. On signing out, a met by a different receptionist but once again, the service was highly commendable. Only a couple of niggles throughout the stay, the batteries in the TV remote were not working, one of the drawer handles was loose, and the shower hose was too short, so the shower head was less than shoulder height.

Hi Trevor, thank you for the review and apologies for the draws and shower hose. We have rectified this and hope to welcome you back you soon.
Fawlty towers remake”
To some it all up - tatty, dirty, desperate need of revamp, in adequate staff, very dissappointing breakfast, bar expensive and never the same price, broken bath panel, soiled chairs, no mattress protecters, broken bed springs, broken tap/shower, rude receptionist........stay away!!!!

Hi, we have a new management team in place now and there are lots of great changes at the hotel. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back soon.
OK if you get a deal.”
Good location for Belfry and M42. Hotel is tired and poor value at anywhere near full price.

Do not stay”
This hotel is very much not to the standard you would expect for the cost. Also the photos are old photos and condition is very poor. Also be very careful of booking rooms as there is a hidden surcharge for extra beds even thou a double room states different bed configuration. This is all extra. Also this is a dog friendly hotel and literally amazed when we went for breakfast and a large hair dog comes in with owners and sits at table on the floor. Totally not acceptable at meals but no warning this happens. It also states a indoors pool absolutely no signage of pool so do not believe it had one. Also as per other views the beds are extremely hard. The breakfast were very basic and I wouldn't have paid for the extra if it hadn't been part of my deal. Also we had to walk past all the dirty linen in the hallway in bags. Some staff were very good but I decided to leave at 7.30 am as for second night noise and last night in the morning a barking dog. Also the receptionist as we left I felt needed to be at home as she was coughing and sniffly, which isn't great at times of covid especially for a hotel. Would I stop again I would not and do not normally write reviews but felt very strongly about the experience.

No thanks”
I could write many things, could post a picture of how the rooms look in reality, but won't. Just imagine a dirty and old place, soft broken mattress, bad smell, etc. etc. and even a hair in your breakfast plate. Yum.

Tired and disappointing”
Great location, and a lovely warm welcome. However that's where positives end. A very old and tired hotel that really needs refurbishment. Mattress more like an ironing board, and whilst bed and bathroom linen clean, room needed deep clean and hoover! However, biggest disappointment was never saw advertised its a god friendly hotel (which is great if your travelling with dogs) but if not, more like a kennels with rooms than hotel! Breakfast consisted of combination of boiled bacon and deep fried hotdogs sausage, hash brown and runny egg! Staff really friendly and pleasant, but hotel needs overhaul to move beyond 1980!

Filthy dirty room”
The room was dirty, the bath was falling to bits. Cobwebs all over the ceiling. Did not want to take my shoes off!

Does what it says on the tin!”
Whilst dated, the hotel was clean the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. My room could have done with some bed side tables, I missed being able to plug my phone in by my bedside and have a drink of water to hand. The bathroom suite was very old fashioned with a random, modern style shower fixture that lacked water pressure. The room was a great size, clean and the bed comfy. Plus, unlike a lot of hotels, the mirror was positioned above the dressing table so you could sit and do your hair and makeup easily. It provided the overnight accommodation I needed at a realistic price. I would love to see this hotel's potential realised as it's location is brilliant and with regeneration and updating it could be really special.

Awful”
Where do I start? On the good side, the setting and basic buildings look OK. Inside, no improvement work for at least 30 years. Terrible, shoddy room right over a wedding function. After a sleepless night, I decided to get the hell out of there and get breakfast somewhere else.

Quick Stay”
The hotel is set in a beautiful location, needs some updating but it is cheerful enough. Beds were a bit hard for me, but that is personal choice. The place was clean and tidy. Staff were helpful. Restaurant wasn't open for dinner but was told about the pub which was a quick stroll along the canal. The food was amazing there, staff were great too.

Very good”
Very pleasant stay, great value for money. Although decor a little dated it adds to the "country feel". The only small niggle was difficult to find someone attending to reception desk. Would definitely use again.

Acceptable”
Hotel said agoda gives them £30 per room booking. Given we paid almost £70 a night someone is making an excessive profit. The room probably was worth £30 per night as it was a large room. NOT a wheelchair friendly hotel!! In the positive side issues raised with the hotel we’re sorted out quickly - apart from lack of weetabix for breakfast!!
