Single Futon in Japanese-Style Female Dormitory Room

The Japanese-style accommodation and hospitality I was looking forward to ”

5 mins from the station, Buddha guesthouse is located in a quiet neighborhood. Koji has been super nice to give me a few recommendations on how to spend the following day in Tanabe area and also on where to have a meal. I happened to be the only one staying in the bedroom, which was great. The futon was very comfortable and the environment super cozy. The other facilities were fine. The kitten is adorable. Many thanks Koji! Awesome value for money.

Great guesthouse, host is very nice”

Close to JR station, nice host, traditional japanese style guesthouse

About 5 min walk to Kii Tanabe station, the host is very nice and made us feel so welcomed. It was like staying in a friend's house. Clean and comfortable. There was an adorable little kitten when we were staying. It is a good choice for budget travel to stay if you want to visit shirahama. You can take a bus or train to get there.

Decent hostel near train station”

Location, friendly and helpful owner, price

The hostel is located within walking distance from the train station. Koji San is informative and helpful as he would provide suggestion on itineraries and routes. Also, I spent a night in Shirahama (the other branch of Buddha Guest House that is near Saki no yu) which requires a bus trip from the train station. Anyhow, I would prefer the condition in Shirahama than Kuchikumano because the room is more comfortable. Nevertheless, he sent me to train station on the day I checked out which is really kind of him. Would definitely recommand this place :)

satisfying and comfortable”

comfortable room. helpful staff. free beer :)

totally love ideas of japanese styled guest house. Budda guest house is one of my favorite.. Nice n comfortable tatami room with a view of breezing garden. the staff was always willing to help and to talk about everything happening in japan or in my country, just like old friends. we also had little parties with all other female guests every night with beers snacks. but the guest house is located in tanabe, not very convenient for those who travel in wakayama for the first time as it is quite far from most touristic spots. I would recommend you to go to Budda guest house in shirahama. That city is much livelier with hotsprings, awesome beach and islands.

Koji's Charming Tibet Themed Huesthouse”

The host, the location, the kitchen

The stay was very good. There are actually two guesthouses named Byddah that are owned by Koji. One in Wakayama which is a very old but charming Japanese house. There are great kitchen facilities to vook and keep food for yourself. All of the three rooms are tatami and futon. When I was there couples were seperated by sex but if you asked I'm sure you could have privacy. There is a max of three people to a room. Because I was there during a very busy spring period the place was full. Koji opened up the other location in the beach town of Shirahama just near by. Generally this location is open fir July and August only. I moved over there for two nights. There is a wonderful outdoor, ocean side onsen three minutes from this local. Here all guests stay in bunkbeds and again a nice but small kitchen. This location is like a tiny little cottage. It is very cute but would be crowded if full. Koji was my Japanese angel. We chatted every day and shared beers and snacks. He wad the highlight for me and I think you'll find him very accomadating.

Basic facilities”

The location is good, about 10 min walk from Kii-Tanabe Station. The hostel offers basic facilities, with one toilet and one shower room. Neither the main door or the room has a lock. Not a really big concern. Okay to stay for one night to visit Kumano Kodo. Do not expect much from it.

nice place tonrwlax after a day trekking”

although it was a mix up with the price I had to pay (I guess was Agoda passing from € to ¥) the staff was really nice and helpful. they have free rice in the evenings, and free coffee and tea all day. That's it's always nice! They have bikes for rent (500¥) and some food if you don't feel like carrying it from Hongu. ah! and private onsen! I will definitely recommend.

Lovely little guesthouse near the Tanabe Station to start Kumono Kodo”

I stayed here for one night, and Koji checked me in. He's a really nice and relaxed guy who speaks Spanish and English, and was really helpful and accommodating. He made a phone call to a hotel in Tikijiri for me and reserved me a room because I had heard it was fully booked. I would stay there again. The value was good, and it has a kitchen was fully equipped. If you're reading this Koji, next time I'll take you out for a few beers! You're awesome! Thank you!

I really enjoyed my stay at Buddah Guesthouse. Koji was a really helpful host and gave me important information for my trip, the kitchen is fully equipped and the room was more than I expected. My only problem there was that it was raining all day, and since the sink to brush the teeth was outside there was no way of getting it done without getting a little bit wet :D

It's a great place to stop before hiking the Kumano Kodo. The guesthouse is very beautiful as well. Be careful where you step when going into the kitchen! I stubbed my foot on a brick. I only wish there was a locker to secure valuables, but I was only here for one night so it wasn't a problem.
