Warm and welcoming”

Beautiful location near to John o Groats (perfect for the ferry to Orkney). Staff were really warm and welcoming, and offered lots of great local knowledge. Food was delicious - all fresh and home-cooked. Room was very modern, clean and comfy - shower was great and it was a nice touch to have USB chargers. Environmentally conscious - no single use plastics and lots of locally sourced things (e.g the soap in the bathrooms). We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend!

Perfect for the ferry to Orkney in a Boutique bed and breakfast but oh so much more.”

Breakfast superb, evening meal again exceptional with local produce and healthy cooking style ,granary bread and amazing menu. Dining in the room was so comfortable with our pet dog. Good local knowledge from our host Kacey . Spotless and tastefully decorated room with the most comfortable bed in very quiet location.

One of the best places we have stayed at in Scotland.”

Huge choice for breakfast , very generous portions and beautifully cooked. Evening meals were also very good. Room was very comfortable and had a good supply of tea and coffee which Kacey topped up when needed. Also advised on the local area and where to visit.

One of the best stays”

This is one of the best stays we could have expected. The attention to detail by Kacey and the diligence with which she has set up the space is amazing. The best part is the food which is of a large variety and easily better than any restaurant for sure in the neighbourhood. Not to mention the amazing tips for bird watching and animal spotting. Very sincere business. Environmentally friendly as well. Loved it.

We stayed at Burnside Cottage for one night. It was brilliant: so clean, so warm, we felt like home. The bed was so comfortable. I was shocked by the breakfast. To be honest, it was the best breakfast I have ever had. The service was brilliant.

The host was very friendly. Room was exceptionally clean and spacious, very well organised, with all information detailed briefly. Room had everything you might need and food was great too.

We received a warm welcome from Kacey . Everything was set up to covid regulations, we felt safe throughout. Our stay was in a warm relaxing atmosphere, a very comfortable room decorated to an extremely high standard. Exceptionally clean. Breakfast was served in the room, food was lovely, everything was perfect.

Burnside was very clean and comfortable. The food was amazing and Kacey could not have been a better host. If anyone is looking for a nice relaxing place to stay in this area, we highly recommend Burnside cottage!

Wonderful food, rooms and location!”

The whole stay was absolutely wonderful, Kacey was marvellous and was so lovely and helpful. The rooms are stunning and it’s in such a lovely location. The food was so so nice and Kacey made sure my parents got a little surprise when they arrived for their anniversary. Could not recommend them any more; will be telling friends and family to stay if they’re in the area!

Only one evening here”

Everything. The property was amazing. So up to date on all fronts. We decided to eat here too and the chilli was as good as we have eaten outside. Such a pleasure to have found this gem. As we ate in our room the service both for evening meal and breakfast was stunning. Cannot thank Burnside enough. Lovely to meet Kacey too.
