A hotel of character as you would expect overlooking and close to Lake Windermere. Fantastic spa with same wonderful views. Professional but friendly staff. Food excellent and reflects a chef passionate about his job! Looking forward to another break here - and we haven’t left yet!

Been coming for years!”

My partner and I love this hotel and we try to come every year at Christmas. This year, because of Covid, we came for a spontaneous night away. The spa is amazing, the lake view rooms are stunning and worth the extra money. Breakfast is served and the staff cannot do more for you. The only downfall is that they have started to charge an extra £17.50pp to use the spa so bear that in mind when you book!

Stay at the Beech Hill hotel”

I have been coming to this hotel for 12 years and never left disappointed. Very relaxing, first class staff; particularly Max, and you are guaranteed a great stay here.

Although we had a lovely time here, one of the reasons we chose it is because it had a pool. However, the pool & spa is not included in the price. It was £17 pp for a 2 hr time slot. This wasn’t detailed either on the website or our booking form. Also, breakfast is continental, extra for hot food. Goos selection, but again, not detailed on the site.

Lovely hotel with extras ”

We were so excited to arrive at this hotel, on first impressions it really was lovely our room overlooked the lake honestly it was exactly like the pictures clean and following covid procedure the only thing I didnt like was that everything seemed to be an added extra a full English was an extra 10pppn which we paid because we wanted to make our holiday special and how we wanted it and the spa was 17.50pp I think for the duration but by the time we arrived there were only 3 slots left for the next day which I was a bit disappointed about because of covid I know this isn't there fault but 17.50 each for 1.5 hours is a bit much I think if this continues it would be best if thr hotel could email in advance and say the spa is very popular would you like to book a slot in advance otherwise I definitely would have on the first day we had been climbing and a trip to the spa would have been amazing but there were no times left when we arrived for the first night so if your reading this email book your spa slot ahead of time the food in thr hotel was amazing we had food there the second night as it was our anniversary we got a taxi into windermere on the first night and it wasn't very much The final thing on leaving was I booked and paid for a select room and the receipt on my bill for leaving said a classic double room. . .so not sure who to contact on this instance

The positive with this hotel is the lakeside location with a view from the room which is great. Negatives are dated, expensive and dissapointing that they charge fees for use of the spa to hotel guests despite the high cost per night for the rooms. Nice continental breakfast, but again you'd expect cooked for the price. Nice and pleasant staff so no complaints there.

Great staff and lovely setting”

We picked Beech Hill because we liked the setting in the Lake Distract and we wanted somewhere to chill out and, as my husband is a strong swimmer, a decent pool. First, the positives: the view of Windermere is stunning, the staff were all unfailingly helpful and friendly, the spa facilities are clean and excellent; the evening meal vegetarian offers were of excellent quality and delicious. There were a few areas for improvement: 1. The big selling point is the stunning views, so clean the windows! they were a disgrace. 2. The bathroom door was damaged (see picture)...a maintenance person visited and said the door would need replacing. Nothing else happened. 3. Accessing the shower was difficult, climbing in and out of the small bath, and it was impossible to turn on the shower without getting soaked with cold water. 4. The cooked vegetarian breakfast was a real disappointment; one egg, a spoonful of beans, ONE mushroom, a hashbrown and one of those awful old- style veggie sausages which are mashed potato sticking other veg together. There's no excuse for this- there are huge numbers of good quality alternatives widely available, Quorn etc and all the main supermarkets offer their own brand now. I complained and they removed the charge for the breakfasts. The included "continental" breakfast was ok although the toast provided was stone cold and I've never had fruit salad swimming in orange juice before. 5. The cocktails were expensive at a tenner each when a gin and tonic was half that, and especially as the bar staff weren't aware of a pretty basic cocktail, Tequila Sunrise. 6. Sound insulation in our room wasn't good - noisy plumbing from the room next door and creaks when anyone walked by. 7. There was an extra charge for using spa facilities. The receptionist said this was made clear on their website. Maybe, but if so I didn't see it - what about if you book as we did, via a booking engine?. 8. Only one of the jacuzzis was available which was a nuisance

Very pleased with the choice to celebrate our 40th anniversary at this lovely hotel.

Was a lovely place directly on lake. A bit worn. Breakfast was great. Only had the bar food for dinner which was good. Only con was had a 10 minute drive to nearest town. Our friends had a horrible small bed the first night, but were moved the next day.

We had a wonderful time in the Beech Hill hotel- Standard room is pretty small, but pleasant and has a door to the outside. Beautiful view of the lake. Great pool and an external hot tub. Extremely friendly staff

Amazing hotel”

Had a lovely stay with my partner hotel was lovely right on the lake the views were amazing. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Already thinking of booking again and staying for longer the outside jacuzzi on the balcony was a lovely touch. Overall had a fab time would definatlt reccomend this hotel.

We made use of the pool, steam room, sauna and hot tub. The swimming pool could be warmer, although it’s fine once your in and swimming.

Lovely staff but hotel needs alot of updating, which they are doing. The room we stayed in was clean but had stains on the carpet and the bathroom needs updating too. The food was really good but not much choice of fruit in the morning. Has no lift but plenty of stairs we were in room 10 so had four lots of stairs to get to the bar or reception or restaurant. Not really suitable for people in wheelchairs or difficulty walking up or downstairs.
