Lovely stay at Rum Doodle”

The room at the top was perfect with windows on both sides making it light and airy. Nicely furnished, cosy with a very comfy bed. Lovely bath - might be tricky for some to get in and out as it’s a bit under the eaves but it was fine for us. Would definitely stay again.

Solo stay”

I loved my stay at the Rum Doodle. I was a solo traveler visiting the lakes for the first time. I liked that this air bnb was off the main road and half way in between Windermere town and Bowness. I stayed in the Pong room, which is small but perfect for myself and for what I needed. The breakfast is delicious and served quickly. The staff are absolutely lovely, traveling solo it can be nice to chat to local people and the staff especially the breakfast lady (sorry I didn’t catch her name) were kind and helpful. The only reason I didn’t give full stars is because the bed in the room could do with an update. The mattress, could do with replacing (could feel a few springs) and there were parts on the posts of the bed that fell off. But i still had a nice sleep. Will definitely visit again if I return to the lakes.

Lovely stay”

I stayed for 3 days with my boyfriend for his birthday, lovely b&b with great location only a short walk outside of Windermere, only issue is our room was VERY small, deceiving due to photos showing rooms looking a reasonable size, but think we drew the short straw. None the less the breakfast was absolutely amazing and staff were brilliant. Definitely recommend but would suggest upgrading to the larger double room.

I stayed for a couple of nights recently and couldn't recommend highly enough! The place was tidy and the room was fairly modern and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back!

We stayed in the Burley room and loved it. Felt like home from home and was a great space to hide away from the storm. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options. 15 min walk from Windermere or bowness so a really good location.

Ok but only just!”

This B&B would have probably been great...a couple of years ago! It is now tired and needs a spruce up. The room was incredibly dark, the mirror far too low to be of any use, the bathroom ceiling mouldy with cracked tiles. Also the room was very very hot, all the time, which for December was very odd, we had the window half open day and night but still it was so hot. Breakfast was fine, no real issues. Location is good, about half way between Windermere and Bowness, walkable but only if fairly fit. Car park is small and up a very steep incline, beware if you have low bumpers or skirting. A few spaces on the level next to the house but we chose to park on Princes Rd. A tad pricey and trying to capitalise on being ‘quirky’ which it really is not.

Amazing”

Myself and a friend just had an overnight stay (unfortunately) at "Rum Doodle". We could quite happily have managed a few more nights. The house is amazing to see, an awful lot of thought and imagination has gone into it. It is quirky and a lot of fun. The house was very clean, inviting and everything is top notch. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice from the buffet, cereals, fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, toast etc, followed by an excellently cooked full English! There is a breakfast menu with many more options. The location couldn't be better, close to Bowness and Windermere. All in all we had a very much needed and welcome break and will definitely be booking again the next time we have a "Girlie" break.

Rum Doodle was a great B&B. Our welcome was the best ever - with the host offering us coffee and cake on our arrival. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was quiet and peaceful, yet an easy walk to both Windermere and Bowness. Breakfast was sensational with good vegetarian options. The host had plenty of time to speak to us about some activities/sightseeing. We were very happy to stay here for two nights and would definitely recommend it.

Great B&B by any measure, with first class service from the hosts including a very tasty breakfast. The only very, very minor negative amongst the all-5 star rating is the water pressure was a tad low in the shower, but that takes the review down from 100% to 99% at worst! Highly recommended.

Beautiful home and great hosts however for money paid house just too small, bathroom dangerous and small as heated towel rail too close to WC and easily burnt arms on towel rail. Would be better if hosts considered knocking through walls to make 2 bedrooms into one so actual proper guest space may reduce number guests however would greatly enhance whole experience by offering rooms which are of a decent size. Also would reduce tables in dining area which was far too small set out similar to a school dormitory with tables which were far too small. Servers need to remember to remove plates when guests finished eating their meals not when they are still dining. Beautiful spot with very accommodating hosts but would not return or recommend as overpriced for the size of the rooms.

I would say this is one of the most wonderterful stay in this vintage themed accomodation. It’s stylish with the theme of Rum Doodle that you could see how detailed the host decor. Most importantly, the breakfast was excellent. Its how a lovely day start here. Highly recommended. Xx

Over night”

Great B&B. We received a very warm welcome the second we arrived. Off road parking. 10 to 15 min walk to the center of town. It ticked all the boxes for what we look for in a B&B. First class breakfast.

Anniversary weekend”

Rum Doodle was the perfect base while we were in the Lake District. Myself and my boyfriend decided to take ourselves away for our anniversary and we chose room 9 The Summit to celebrate in. When we arrived my boyfriend had pre-arranged to have silk petals on the bed which was a lovely touch for Rum Doodle to accommodate. The weather was pretty rubbish so this was the perfect hideaway for us to chill in when the rain got a little too much! Emma was an incredible host, gave us some great restaurant ideas (make sure you go to Glipin Spice if you're thinking of going to Windermere) and was there for anything we needed, even if it was for us to tell her how amazing the pancakes were for breakfast! We couldn't rate it highly enough, the perfect weekend stay!
