Best nature resort at a budget!”

I have a great experience here! For a budget, we got even more. The surroundings and where it is is super amazing, it is quiet, peaceful and insanely beautiful! For the nature lovers and seeking to get genuine rest, and be offline for a while, this is the place to be! Great value for money too! The staff are the best! they are the nicest I met and serves with a smile and happiness :-) This is a highly recommended place for someone who is a nature lover, loves a quiet place and simply wanted to relax. Facilities are complete - with clean beds, electricity, and running water. two thumbs up for Cabugan Resort!

    Great get away place!”

Good place to commune with nature and if you like to do soul searching, this is one of the place to be in Guimaras. Away from the crowd. No wifi and very weak phone signal. Real time FB and IG status updates are no use here. It will be a "real time" given to yourself, or with your love ones, or great friends. Choose their sunrise huts if you want most the silent place. The hammock under the huts is a good place to read a book or discuss life goals with your partner. Get the sunset rooms if you like a view of the lagoon and an AC for a colder sleep. Any of the huts facing the beach is the best for big groups or for those who love to hear the sounds of the sea waves during their sleep. The staffs are great and accommodating. We would love to come back to this resort again in the future.

    The place for the adventurous”

Seafood cooking, the beach, the serenity

The travel to Cabugan takes about an hour via multicab from Jordan wharf and another 5-10mins via small boat to the island itself (it's detached from Guimaras). Despite arriving at past 2pm, we were checked in after an hour since our room was given to elderly guests and the other rooms have not been cleaned yet. We were in the resort along with only two other couples but the food service was slow. It will take an hour for them to serve your food so schedule your order in advance. The menu was limited depending on the catch of the day but I must say they cook quite well. I loved their grilled squid, sinigang na hipon and sweet chili crab (the latter being in the fish cage they set up at the other side of the beach so it's really fresh!). The breakfast combo was quite a disappointment though since the serving is small for 120 pesos. As for the accommodation, we originally booked the family unit but we were placed in the duplex unit. Both were near the beachfront and no AC, btw. The family unit has its own T&B but the duplex shares its T&B with another unit. Good thing no one was checked in at the other duplex unit so we had the T&B to ourselves. There's no hot shower and it's very (very) basic. There's no TV and WIFI and I must share that cellular signal (esp Globe) is extremely difficult to get. But if you like to commune with nature, this is the place for you. The surroundings are so nice that you don't need the distraction of technology. Bring a book and read it at one of their hammocks. Unfortunately, we were met my typhoon Seniang so we didn't get to do island hopping but a visit to a bat cave nearby was interesting. It's like the mini underground river, only you traverse it on foot. Be sure to wear long pants so you can cross a smaller (rockier) cave that will lead you to a beautiful body of water (I wasn't wearing one so I passed). Overall, this place is for you if you are up for an adventure of long travel, lack of technology and zero night life.

    Good budget accomodation”

Peaceful location Great food Good pricing Basic facilities I think this would suit a backpacker or budget conscious traveller the resort is good value for money and the island hopping (ask for Andy he will take you to some amazing out of the way spots the other resorts don’t) and snorkeling are good value for money. The staff are all friendly and offer family style cooking with a limited but delicious menu.

Basic resort but very nice, staff very friendly”

The cottages are simple but nice and clean, electricity and water works, the restaurant has a quite good selection for such a small place. The best access is via tricycle to the small Duncaan (spelling?) wharf nearby, from where the resort fetches you by boat (5 min. ride). It is a good starting point for island hopping and kajaking. Swimming and snorkeling right at the resort is not so good, though, because the water is vey shallow.

Not our kind of resort - too remote, too basic ”

If you’re on the search for something remote and look forward to spending some time relaxing and reading this resort might be the thing for you. It wasn’t for us. As Cabugan is only accessible by boat, you have no “quick” other dining options etc. The food was good, but for us as vegetarians very limited. Setting and location are awesome and the private beach is very nice, too! But the basic bungalows in which we stayed were too basic for our needs: no mosquito nets, yet open gaps in the hut, a shower head that wasn’t adjustable and no sink to wash your hands. The bungalow has no windows which is good for ventilation but not so good for hearing the motor of passing boats :-( The staff was not really involved and our room wasn’t even “made up” when we arrived a day too late (although we communicated our arrival!). All in all not a satisfying experience - at least for us!

    Above average”

the location is perfect for those looking for some quite place to relax and de-stress. i love the hut where i spent the night. it got incredible view. the staff are courteous. tried ordering mixed seafoods for dinner but found not much seafoods in it but few shrimps, tentacles of an octopus, a small slice of fish and more of clams. i just think that its not worth the price. also, i was charged for the flat boat going to the resort. this should have been part of the resorts services and not an additional charge. Overall, i enjoyed my stay.

Going to the rooms is uphill. Food is freshly cooked. Staff is very accommodating. Boat transfers are readily available but not part of the fee paid in the hotel. The rooms were not that sound proof.

We stayed 2 nights there and it was great. U r in the middle of nowhere and there is mo connection. No phone call, no internet. Just nature. Food is really g6ood depending on what u take. And if they have it... So.. 😎 If you looking for something abroad, this is is the right thing for u. U only get there by their flatboat. They dont have mosquito nets, we had our own for our son. I did not use one and it was no problem. Overall I can say it was excellent for 2 days.
