Perfect place to stay”

located in the heart of Cairo, nice staff, good programmes

i recommend the cairo city center hotel to everybody who wants to feel the impulses of the real egypt and cairo. than hotel is really in the center of the city, you can reach every tourist district in minutes. however except from the hotel we didn't see any tourists. the tharir square and the egyiptian museum is about 1 minute far by walk and we can go on walk for shopping, to restaurants, to bazaars or to the famous confectionary al abd as well. the staff is very nice, helpful, polite and always smiling. they are at your disposal in everything anytime and it is worth to ask them to organise tours for you (for example: to the pyramids of giza and saqqara, river cruise on the nile etc.) the room was snug with a nice view and the breakfast was enough (we were two women :)), and they have great coffee. so if you would like to see the real cairo, choose the cairo city center hotel.

Lovely people ”

Good value for money. Very lovely receptionists.

on arriving to cairo, we were picked up by the hotel from the airport. on arrival to the hotel, the entrance seemed a bit daunting... and the antique elevator was a novelty :) however we were greeted with smiles from the receptionist. we were given early check in. the initial room given had problems with lack of hot water. so we were given another room the next day. room has airconditioning, with all the basic neccessities. wifi was freely available. throughout our stay, we got to know several of the receptionists and they were all so helpful and friendly. they all spoke english. during our stay there in cairo, the protesting in tahrir sq was taking place, but they kept reassuring us that we were safe.

Easy hop to the sights.”

Friendly staff, nice rooms.
Lack of food.

When we first arrived at the Cairo City Center Hotel I thought we were at the wrong place. The outside of the building, and even the elevator to the floor, were grubby and looked very run down. When we arrived on the 6th floor, however, things changed. The hotel (on the 6th and 7th floors) was very well done up and very clean. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and the room was very pleasant. Although the staff sent out for some simple Egyptian food for us it would have been nice to have a better variety and maybe a menu available in the room. Generally satisfied with the hotel though and I would stay there again if I was in Cairo.

nice people and place”

location

i liked this place a lot. the people were very friendly and very helpful. the rooms were immaculately clean. i had a problem with the shower not producing hot water. they moved me to another room immediately. the next day there was a plumber putting a new shower unit in there. they even asked if i wanted the room back. they arranged my driver and tour of the pyramids for me. when i left cairo the taxi driver for the hotel took me to the station. he took my case right into the ticket office, i gave him my money, he paid the ticket and got the info i needed. i will definately stay here again. it is great value for what you pay for.

Great location, helpful staff, very reasonable”

Central location, helpful staff, value for money

The hotel is situated in a very good shopping area close to the museum and within walking distance to some good restaurants. The area is safe and reasonably clean for Cairo. Rooms are all on the 6th floor so quiet however the elevator is quite slow which is ok unless you're in a hurry. The staff, price and central location make this hotel. Some of the services in the rooms are not perfect but for the price they are acceptable. My internet was slow so I was offered another room where the signal strength was much better. Great staff, cheap price, central location and some old world charm...good package for travellers on a budget.

very unique, great customer service! Next to the Metro station

Very close to the Museum, took us hours to finish walking the Museum cause it was so big and awesome. The hotel is right next to the Metro station and the square. Good memories!! Customer service was just excellent!! They book us driver/ tour guide and we thank god we have them.. or else we probably would have a very bad experience in Cairo if it wasn't for the hotel's arrangement to guide us around Cairo!! The hotel was just through out PERFECT!!

Nice older hotel, great location”

Price, location, staff, cleanliness

this is an older small hotel on the 6th floor of a building. dont be put off by the old elevator. when you get off on the 6th floor, you will see the reception area and the warm welcoming smile of fatima. i booked a standard room, but since the only ones available were on one floor above a small spiral staircase, i was given a larger room on the main floor-very kind for an older woman. the rooms are a bit small with the 2 beds, but enough for you and your luggage. the breakfast is simple-bread, egg and coffee or tea and halwah-sesame paste sweet. good enought to start your day. everything is clean and i had a view of the museum from my window. it is 5 minutes walk in one direction and the metro stop 5 minutes in another. it is also 5 mnutes from the most famous pastry shope in cairo-groppe, where you can have delicious pastries ,ice cream or choclates for a reasonable price.i ate there 35 years ago on my first trip to egypt and never forgot it.

Great Location, Very Friendly Staff”

Location! Staff! Great Price!

The hotel has a great location, just 3 minutes walking from the Cairo Museum. The hotel is very simple, but the beds are comfortable. We slept well. The Staff is very friendly and arranged a driver to take us everywhere for an affordable fee. The only con is the bathroom, which has no division and when you take a shower the water runs in the entire bath. The wifi connection was very convenient because we took our laptops with us and used it everynight in our room.

Fantastic stay and best hotel staff ever!! ”

Great place with kids, staff was like family, very spacious room and great location

we travelled with two kids aged 3 and 1 and were a bit apprehensive at first. But all that changed when we saw the rooms and the hotel staff were very accommodating to our needs. It doesnt look great from outside but once inside, its a great place. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The location was excellent. Egyptian museum is just a minute away by walk and so was the main shopping street. Tip: arrange all travel with the hotel as its safe, convenient and way cheaper than taking taxi. You also dont have to haggle. We felt quite safe at the hotel especially the staff were very friendly and catered to all our special needs including extended checkout. We had a late train to Luxor and they opened another room for us to stay till night without any extra costs. One main regret leaving Egypt was to leave the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for all especially those travelling with family and kids.

Potential for the future”

The new rooms are good. Good location
Old building. Very basic breakfast. Some rooms are 1* standard.

I have a really mixed feeling about Cairo City Center Hotel. Made a reservation through Agoda but when I arrived the room was nothing like the webpage. It was a small "cell" with a bed, bedsidetable, tiny bathroom and a small window with a view of the backyard. The only positive to say about the room was that it was newly painted and had AC. It was supposed to be 3* but had 1* facilities. The receptionstaff said nothing. After complaining several times they offered a new room the next day claiming there were something wrong with the Agodareservation. The new room I got was really good. Big room, balcony with cityview, good bathroom, TV and AC. The room looked quite new. Make sure you get what you paid for, the new rooms are good value but not the 1* "cells". The hotel is located on the 6th floor of an old building. The entrance looks quite awfull and the elevator (prehistoric) are very often not working. Breakfast are very basic. The staff said they had only been running this hotel for two weeks (in May 2010) and still had many things to do. The location is really good. Five minutes walk from the Egyptian museum, the Nile and Sadat Metrostation. The overall impression is that this hotel has the potential of being a good value 3* hotel although they have some work to do first. Most (but not all) rooms are already really nice. They need to improve the breakfast, cleaning of the rooms, repair the elevator and renovate the entrance.
