"very nice stay; i'd stay here again for business. the hotel is located halfway between two dlr stations but you can take a shortcut from canary wharf station through the lobby of a building and then across the footbridge. i ate in the pizzeria and asked for a dish from the menu to be prepared as a salad instead of a sandwich, which the waitress was able to accommodate. the food was uninspired but it was fresh and tasty. "I loved this hotel and would stay again. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and facilities are great, and they really give detail to customer comfort. The hotel is walking distance from the tube with a grocery store nearby and restaurants (though the bars and restaurants close early). Great hotel!"

"This is a great location for Canary Wharf and the East End. At first sight the situations looks a bit remote, but Docklands Light Railway is 5 minutes away and the patio, with views across old London Docks is very atmospheric. Canary Wharf is a 15 minute walk away, and one can walk to the Olympic site in about 40 minutes, some of it along a charming canalside. The room was good in every respect except, for some guests, wardrobe space, but for me it was fine. Bathroom and shower excellent, very obliging room service and reasonable food and snack prices. The highlight is the food quality in the main restaurant (Azure) which is absolutely excellent and, unlike many hotels, the equal of a very, very good restaurant. I had both snacks and two serious dinner and have absolutely no complaints. Bar is nice, if a little quiet when I was there, but drinks are London bar prices rather than hotel-extortionate. I would certainly stay again."

"Do not let the outside fool you, a lot of effort has been placed to make this place a good hotel. The staff are very helpful, easy check in, an array of fruit offered throughout the stay and free bottles of water. There was a kitchen as well which makes it practical, however, the rooms are incredibly small but again, effort was made. Modern plugs with a usb socket, modern bathroom and a balcony that offers an amazing view of Canary Wharf. The only major downside was the cleanliness, slight dusting would help and higher quality sheets. Otherwise, top notch! Well done "

"For some reason Agoda has this hotel's address in the Canary Wharf, which is why I chose this hotel, but it is not in the Canary Wharf area. It is near a convention center and not much else (no real restaurants or pubs within walking distance), but it is a great hotel and very easy accessible to the major parts of London. I LOVED the hotel bar and sitting area; we stayed for 5 nights and really appreciated and enjoyed the staff. Great room and facilities and decently priced. "

"The hotel was fine. However the hotel location is very far from Heathrow airport and we paid 102 GBP for taxi services which is exhorbitant. We should have been advised by Agoda and would make a decision as to whether we want to be in Novotel Excel on canary wharf."

"I spent three nights here during a mini heatwave and was thankful for their air conditioning unit! I arrived early at 9am and asked to leave my bag because I was heading back out, instead the lovely man on reception checked me into my room so I could freshen up after my journey. The room was spacious and well thought out, everything you need is in the room. Free tea and coffee is available downstairs. The room has fast wifi and there's also a hairdryer. An ironing room is also available. I rarely eat breakfast but they offer a small continental selection downstairs and there's also snacks on offer. The one day I actually fancied breakfast I chose to eat next door in the travelodge as they offered a full English. The location is closest to Royal Albert DLR, and if you cut across the car park opposite the hotel you can have a nice walk to it along the river. You can also see the airport opposite and watch the planes take off. There's also a small cafe and Chinese restaurant by the river"
