Great staff and good location”
The hotel itself was old and in need of an update. However, the location was good as there was a bus stop right outside making it easy to get into Valletta and also to other destinations. The staff were very helpful, especially Ros on reception and Joe. I was upgraded to a top floor room (room 67) for the fantastic views and although my room didn't have a balcony, it had a huge front window to admire the view. Breakfast was 8 euros extra but I only opted to eat there a couple of times as the choice was limited and there wasn't much fresh produce. The only real issue I had with the hotel was with the electrical sockets. Fortunately I had brought my own 2 to 3 pin adapters together with a multi extension leas but there were only 4 sockets in the room, two of which were for the TV and side lamp. The other two had been misused and burnt out presumably by guests trying to adapt their plugs to the Maltese sockets! So I ended up using the extension lead with multi sockets which I had brought with me. This was a godsend as there are no sockets next to the beds!!! The rooftop pool area was a nice bonus as the views from there were amazing and it was a nice area to sit and wait for my airport transfer after checking out. On the whole I would recommend the hotel for budget holidaymakers but if you prefer a bit of luxury then this 3 star hotel is not for you.

I spent just one night in the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and the hotel. I chose the economy room, relatively basic but I got everything I needed. Excellent location.

Great hotel for the price”
I enjoyed my stay at The Carlton. Although I arrived several hours early, I was greeted warmly and invited to go to my room early. The hotel is just off Egnatia, so close to everything but quieter. The airport bus is just a block away. There's good security on the entrance door at night.

Really good features, not so good basic things”
I recon this hotel is good. However, some basic things could be upgraded: - Wardrobe doors was falling from frames - Windows were a little bit destroyed - missing seals caused window to come inside the room, water was leaking through upper part of window. - Low pressure of water in the bathroom But these were only cons because: + Pool at the roof + Amazing view from the window + About 15 secs to bus stop (not kidding) + Really hot water in the bathroom + Electric kettle and hair dryer in the room + Air Conditioner in the room + Everyday cleaning service So at the end of the day it was great expirience to stay in this hotel.

Absolut super”
Very good area with many public transport bus, 30 min directly to Valletta, or 10 min to pier with boat to go to Valletta for 1,50 Euro. Also the area by hotel is well to go by walk to St.Julian part.

I strongky unrecomended here to stay ir standarts, only 5-7floor sea view rooms, bicause of noise, very small dark and unxomfortable rooms. Staf was very frendly and solve our stay issue and change the room. But if you book a dooble be sure tgat you have it, we receved twin like douvle and bicause of unfortabke sleape of 2 separate beds toogether we asking to change. So. Hotell only for travellers, good lokation but only to sleap and spend tine outside. Breacfast is not recomended in the hotel outside is nany places to have a coffy and snacks

Very good”
The hotel is pretty simple and average 3 star hotel. We were only sleeping in it, so it worked great for us. The floor wasn't cleaned when we came in, but the next day it was all cleaned and good. The bed wasn't comfortable for me, but it was ok for my partner. The only thing that we really didn't like was the breakfast. You can find much better food in cafes near by for the same price.

You shouldn't expect the facilities of an old hotel.

Run-down rooms,, excellent location”
You need to sacrifice a lot here. Run-down hotel with decaying rooms,, old mattresses that should have been changed to new ones 10 years ago. The elevator is so small that 2 people with luggage would struggle to squeeze in. There is absolutely no sound proofing here, you can clearly hear everything both from the street and the corridor. No fridge, only one socket (the usual British type with 3 holes) far away from the bed and the desk, close to the floor. Absolutely useless. However beautiful view from the sun roof, excellent location, nice staff. Your choice but think twice.

Cold and dirty”
First of all, the name itself is very misleading as it has nothing to do with the Carlton hotels chain. It was so cold in the room that it was almost impossible to get up from the bed without shivering. We had difficulties to even take a shower due to very weak water pressure. The room corners were full of spider webs and the floor in the bathroom was apparently not washed prior our arrival. On the other hand the hotel staff was very nice - the hotel manager, the cleaning lady we’ve met. Oh and the lift! It’s very tiny and looks like it’s going to collapse anytime soon. It wasn’t possible to take the lift from the 7th floor where we had our room (it wouldn’t open there). Overall it was a terrible stay and I cannot imagine the disappointment of the guests who paid full price (we found it on great discount).

Unclean and very noisy. ”
I spent 3 nights at this hotel, very noisy and impossible to sleep as its on a very busy road and rooms windows are not equipped with proper glazing. The room was not properly cleaned neither especially the bathroom. I won't stay there again.

No sleep here”
No sleep here, too much internally/external noise. Spend a few extra Euros and stick to the big chains in Malta.

Just perfect!”
Before booking, I was unsure if it would be better to stay in the centre of Valletta or in the neighbouring district of Sliema. I think I made the right decision! This hotel is a minute from the beach and about ten minutes from the main shopping and restaurant areas, and there is a bus stop right outside which makes day trips a piece of cake. All of the staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience very enjoyable. My room was cosy-not huge, but big enough for one person. There were some English TV channels (and not just the news!), plus Netflix (which, lucky for me, the previous guest had forgotten to log out of!). So, in short, visit Valletta and sleep in Sliema!
