Recommendation for travelers ”
I stayed during 3 days. There is no lift, so it could be difficult to up & down. Also, the photos on the website are looked better than real room which mean that real room is smaller. However, Castle view guest house has many advantages for travelers. The guest house is very clean and located in the central area. Thus, you can go to Edinburgh castle, Calton hill and other places within 15 minutes on foot. Around the guest house, there are lots of restaurants such as Italian, Chinese, Japanese and so on. The host is very kind who gave me useful information for tour. I would like to recommend this guest house to travelers.

Excellent”
Castle View Guest House was in a perfect location for views of the castle and for shopping along Princess St. It was also located within a comfortable walk of Waverly train station and the Hop On Hop off buses at Waverly bridge. The building itself is a heritage building with lovely Georgian architectural features BUT it has tons of stairs to climb!! It is not suitable for persons with disabilities or some seniors! The entrance is unimpressive with laundry bags and a vacuum cleaner to greet you. When you finally reach reception (up many stairs) it is basically a closet which is closed much of the time. Our room was lovely, large and very clean (no complaints there) and breakfast was delicious and plentiful (but up on the top floor!). Staff were friendly and courteous. Would I stay there again? As a senior (only getting older), the next time I was in Edinburgh I would likely not stay there...only because of the stairs!

Great guest house!!”
Me and my friend stayed at Castle View Guest House on 16th December and we loved it. The staff was really helpful and friendly. When our flight was delayed and we arrived quite late, they were waiting for us. They gave us directions on where to go, close by things to see, etc. Breakfast in the morning was really nice and yummy and again staff was friendly and polite, always with a smile ready. The only downside I would say are the beds, the mattresses weren't good at all and you could feel all the springs in the mattress. Would be nice if they put some kind of topper to stop this problem. All in all we loved it and I'll be back for sure next time I'm in Edinburgh

Best accommodation for travelers”
Castle view guest house is located in the central of Edinburgh which is only 30 mins by bus from the airport. Additionally, every interesting places are very close to the guest house. It takes only 15 mins on foot to go such as Edinburgh castle or Calton hill. The host is very friendly and nice guy who will really welcome to you.

Cosy guest & perfectly located guest house”
We had a pleasant stay at Castle View Guest House, over the weekend. We booked the family room which is really comfortable and spacious. The full Scottish breakfast was very good. The location is also top: close to Princes Street bus and tramway stops and offers a view on the castle. We will come back for sure!

Nice space for three people”
Good location on quieter street in Edinburgh but you can walk to everything. It is difficult to find a room that sleeps three people at a reasonable price, but this worked. I expected more of the original writers house, but unfortunately it went through a brutal renovation to turn into a guest house, so the charm is missing. Good clean house, with a good breakfast, so good value for the money, but not a beautiful home or Bed and Breakfast feel.

Amazing Guest House”
The house is much better than my expect. The location is really nice, it's not far from railway station, and near the Prince Street. We love the big window in the room. Magic is the staff who welcomed us. He is a kind, handsome boy. Lol! The room is clean, and good to stay in. Breakfast is also perfect. If I visit Edinburgh again, I will be sure stay in this guest house again.

visiting Edinburgh Castle ”
Visiting Edinburgh castle and surrounding areas, it was a good location for a base. Very close to the castle and tram links to the train station and airport. The hotel had no lifts so a little climb to the very top floor. The rooms had large beds, decent shower and was very clean. Tea making facilities were very well stocked with nice selection of short bread biscuits. The breakfast was first class. The staff were warm, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you fancy a good laugh, would strongly recommend visiting the Stand comedy club ( not for under 18’s ) just around the corner. Will hold about 100 people, if you want a seat / table must get there early.

Fantastic”
Just a short 10min walk from the airport express bus 100 stop. It's located in the new town area of Edinburgh, and the room is well furnished with clean sheets, comfortable beds, and clean shower rooms. I've only stayed there one night before my flight to do some last minute laundry and packing. The only suggestion I have for the establishment is perhaps for them to have a more prominent signage as I initially had trouble locating the location even with my phone's map app.

Great stay”
I had a great stay at Castle View. The breakfast was very good and the location was very good as well. Lots of reasonably priced food options around and walking distance to most sights in the old town. I would definitely stay here again.

Clean, friendly hotel in middle of Edinburgh”
I picked this hotel mostly for location - it was perfect! We could walk to everything we wanted to do - mostly the Castle and Royal Mile. Plenty of shops and restaurants in very close proximity. The hotel is very clean and quaint. We had a large family room with 2 double beds, sitting area and large bathroom. There are many stairs, as usual in a downtown place. Breakfast was on 3rd floor and was delicious. Made to order, as well as buffet for fruits, yogurt, cereal and drinks. Staff was amazing. Beds were ok in comfort. Parking will probably be near castle, so you have to walk 0.5 miles through Princes Garden, and it was 28 pounds/day (but I expect this in any major city downtown). We truly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.

Okay if you don’t have a car”
The hotel was nice but we had a car and had to get up and out of hotel by 8:30 am or have someone go pay parking attendant (who is not there after hours) for two hours. So while the hotel was nice, we felt rushed to get out. And it is near the castle but no view from the window. You need to stand in the middle of the street out front to see the castle. The building itself is very old, charming. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was very generous. Staff was very friendly.

Great host and service”
Castle view is located near the end of the shopping street (10 to 15 mins walk from the train station depending on your walking speed and luggage size). A lot of food and bars around the area. The place has 5 storeys (reception is on the 1st floor/2nd floor). Breakfast is served on the 3rd floor/4th floor. Very spacious for a single room on the TOP floor, bathroom not attached (just a few steps from the room). My host, magic, was incredibly helpful.

Fantastic breakfast!”
Unbeatable location - you can see the Edinburgh Castle from your window. It didn't have a lift as its a heritage listed building (author of wind in the willows lived there once upon a time!) so was a pain getting luggage up stairs but worth it for the location. Heating worked well. Mattresses a bit uncomfortable but ok if you are only planning to stay 1 or 2 nights. The brekkie is amazing!!!!

Very clean”
I stayed here as I got a good deal for a single room with breakfast . I was attending a event in town and with it being a late finish I wanted to be able to head straight to bed, it was a 1 minute walk from George street and ideal for city centre shopping / eating etc everything is in walking distance The room was small but very clean and decor to a high standard , it had ensuite which was one of the cleanest I have seen in any hotel, couldn't fault anything . Staff were helpful and polite and gave the relevant info . Will stay again and reccomend to friends

Met our needs.”
Booked this guest house for location and price. Was visiting family who were staying in same street so very handy. Room at very top so around 70 stairs to climb which was tiring for my mum. Can’t complain however as only £52 for both of us for 1 night B and B. If staying for longer duration would stay in a hotel which had more facilities. Martin who was working throughout the day was very pleasant. Breakfast staff could have been a bit more attentive .

Friendly staff with comfortable room”
I'm first impressed by the receptionist/general manager of this hotel. He is helpful by helping us to find a day tour to Highlands despite the tour group is not his preferred partner and helping us to carry the luggages without any complaint. The room (Family Room) is incredibly big and comfortable. The breakfast is included & the quality of the food is incredible, freshly prepared for each individual guests. The location of this location is just next to Princess Street where shopping heaven is. The only issue with this hotel is that it doesn't have lift, we have to carry our heavy luggages by taking 3 levels of stairs, this is the killer. I won't recommend anyone with big/heavy luggage or disability.

Excellent stay”
Nice and cosy room. The room was cleaned every day and Break fast was great! The location is also good as it is near most of the tourist attractions. Thank you to Magic for the magical experience. We had a tiring journey and he helped us with the luggage up a flight of steps! We will stay here again if we ever go back to Edinburgh!
