Really nice. The rooms were themed. We had the oriental room and it was lovely. The communal area was really nice and the kitchen was good too. A good 5 min walk from the city (15 mins over a big hill of you follow Apple maps - groan!). We will be back

A really lovely stay!”
A great set of apartments in a nice location. It's a bit of a walk from town, but nice to be away from the continuous bagpipe music in the more touristy bits. Catherine did her utmost to ensure we had a nice stay. It was great to have access to a kitchen, which meant we could make breakfast and dinner if needed, which cuts costs a fair bit on holiday. The showers were great, and the beds huge. There was a bit of a dip in the middle as i think it's two singles attached in the middle, but they were very comfy. Overall i would definitely recommend! Thanks for a great stay :)

We were both pleasantly surprised by the accommodation and having the use of other facilities. We were in a beautiful elevated position looking over the town. The beds were comfortable the facilities clean. I would most certainly recommend this room let and in fact have already given the details to a friend

Found this place last minute, Catherine was great with giving us all the information we needed and for any requests. Room was stunning and very comfortable, great location and very quiet.

Very nice, clean accommodation. A great, big bed which was very comfortable. The room was very warm though (even with the radiator off) and so struggled to sleep properly.

nice apartment with shared kitchen”
room is nice with lovely decoration, bed is comfortable, bathroom is big enough. although did not meet owner as self check in which is quite convenient, owner is nice and patient to answer my questions with quick response time. but it locates behind the Calton Hill which is a bit far away from the tram station and town.

A beautiful street, however do be aware that this is very low budget accommodation. I'm quite pragmatic and looked at all the reviews and thought that those who commented that this was 'superb' would thus balance those negative comments, so I was expecting an 'OK' type of accommodation..sadly I would not have booked this had I had the opportunity to see the room before hand, even at the reduced price of £41 for two, being the price I paid. Clearly someone has spent time in perfecting the individual style and decor, this is let down by the pervasive smell of damp, tired and worn areas, poor quality thin un ironed bedding, giving it an overall sub budget feel. Reminds somewhat of student accommodation. On the positives tea and coffee in a full working kitchen is a nice touch and the furniture in the lounge is of nice quality

The place is quiet and has good accommodations. The spaces of common use are well equipped. everything was well explained by email and we did not see anyone and we don't need anything during the two days of hosting.

Check-out issue!! Bad experience ”
The room and location was great, we just felt rushed in the morning(9:30AM) as people already waiting inside asking for our room. The kitchen rubbish bin was full and we had to clean and put dishes away. Also there is another big issue about our bed sheet was inside out so we don’t know if they had been changed. Overall was great when we got there. It would be great if ppl is staying the same room can check in after we check out.

Disappointing ”
Room was very tired, stains and marks all over the walls, dust everywhere, it needs a good clean. No clean sheets or towels (until we asked). Radiators didn't heat up properly and it was freezing due to a draft in the windows. On the positive side, our request for towels was dealt with quickly. Facilities were good. Value for money was good. But needs a good clean and towels and sheets should be available for guests (even if they have to change them themselves).

This place is not for solo travellers”
Whilst it is a nice 3 bedroom apartment, the place at 12A Carlton Terrace is not suitable for solo or maybe couple travellers. I was placed in a room with nobody else around the apartment. Upon reading the guest book, I learned that it is mostly used for hen's nights, which made me become suspicious of the stains in the towels and the bed sheets (I ended up using my own towel). The room was stuffy and hot since I could not open the window for ventilation. Mind you, the apartment is at the basement. It is also a good 20min walk from Waverley train station
