Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from our host, Ray. He gave us a lot of information and a map to find our way around. The Guest House is very well situated for exploring Chester, being only a 15 minute walk from the town centre. There are good restaurants and pubs nearby for an evening meal. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We were given a room downstairs next to the reception area, which was a bit noisy at times, but Ray very kindly offered to move us to another room, if we wanted, we which did decline. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and our breakfast was delicious - with plenty of choices on offer. There were lots of extras included in the room, apart from the usual tea and coffee - we also had biscuits, crisps and water - and complimentary toiletries. I would recommend this guest house for a weekend exploring Chester.

Paid £195 for a standard double room in a 4* hotel. Unfortunately, the standard of the room was no better than that of a Travelodge: fine in itself, but no frills and not a patch on other 4*s that I have stayed at. Room facilities: wifi, tea/coffee, television. That's it. Not even an iron (unless requested) Hotel bar/restaurant: moderate to expensive in price; range of food not great. £12.50 for a 10" margherita pizza Hotel Brasserie Restaurant (separate eatery from above): overly priced e.g. £14 for a burger. They do accept Taste Card but this didn't offset the exorbitant prices you're otherwise paying Hotel facilities: very good - room price included access to swimming pool, gym and sauna. The opening hours could be better though; by the time I was back in the room after a day spent shopping in Chester, these facilities were closed (8pm closing on weekends) Staff: lovely. Friendly, helpful, interested in how your stay is going. An asset to the hotel.

The owner/staff are very friendly but it is really difficult to understand why this hotel gets such good reviews. Yes there is a car park. It is a little far out from Chester and it is quite a walk along a busy road to any restaurant. Location is actually quite dreadful as sits on a very busy main road with many large trucks and there is traffic all night which disturbs one's sleep. Our room was old and in need of decorating/renovation and, although we felt that the bedding was clean we didnt feel totally comfortable with the overall cleanliness. It was also cramped as the room was a loft conversion with low ceilings. There is a bar but quite frankly the whole room was in such a mess that it certainly wasnt an attractive proposition.

Staff were very friendly, especially Jo who worked the night shift and Chris on reception who I believe had only worked there 3 days, he was very helpful gave us a map of Chester and recommended best Restaurants to visit, very welcoming and excellent customer service. The location was really good everything within walking distance, the room and the kingsize bed was very comfortable, breakfast was amazing with excellent choice definitely book there again, thank you.

We arrived to be told they didn't have a room that would fit our family of four in, with booking through Agoda the hotel didn't have our number to call us prior and discuss. The hotel were great in sorting us out two rooms, which worked well for us in the end. Very friendly and helpful staff. For the money the rooms were great, yes they were dated, but perfectly good enough for the price you pay. Bed sheets were a little narrow to cover the very wide bed, but again for the cost not an issue. Second time there and would stay again.

friendly welcome, checked in to a lovely big room with a well equipped en-suite and a sitting area. overall ambience is discretely luxurious, wooden panelling and antique runners on a wooden floor give a wonderful country house appeal. food was of a very high standard, with a wine list to match. certainly somewhere to visit for a relaxing break, but close enough to chester to make a city visit should you choose.

We stayed here a few times before COVID 19 and this time too the staff were as polite and professional as ever. The cleanliness of the rooms were as good as ever too (most of them are more spacious than a room you would get at one of the well known budget brands). There is a good selection of pillows and the bed is firm but not too firm and we slept very well as we have always done here. Location is perfect next to the railway station and no more than a 15 minute walk into the centre of Chester. Just be aware currently the restaurant and bar facilities are closed. We paid for breakfast thinking the main restaurant would be open but instead got a breakfast bag of oats, a croissant a breakfast bar and a carton of orange juice for around £12 each. I can highly recommend the buffet breakfast when open but during COVID 19 we would not pay for the "bag in a room" again. Other thing to note, parking would cost you £15 Mon-Sat to stay on the car park at the back of the hotel but was free on the street as we stayed Sunday night. Also not aware of air con in this room although it might be that we just didn't look hard enough as we did not need it the night we stayed.

As expected, Holiday Inn Express delivered. Staff were excellent and accomadating when we asked for a room change due to a crying baby. Location is excellent for horse racing, sight-seeing and commuting into Liverpool. Lots to do and see within a short walking distance. Highly recommended if visiting Chester. Breakfast was sufficient even at busy periods. Bed was very comfortable and would definitely use again.

I booked a room on the Executive Club floor - two main benefits -it is a "quiet"floor (no room cleaning before 10am etc) and free drinks & canapés served in club room from 5 - 7 pm. The former was excellent, everyone made an effort to be quiet and not bang room doors, the latter not so good. Staff could not have been more helpful - for example I had to leave in the early hours for a flight but the porter took my 4 heavy bags in a most helpful and friendly manner as though it was the middle of the day! I sampled the bar, dining room and gym whilst there and was impressed by all. It's just a short walk to the city centre. Will be my hotel of choice when next in Chester.

My wife and I stopped at Mitchell's for one night for a regular visit to Chester, and I must say it was probably one of the best hotel/guest houses we have ever stayed in, and that includes some top hotels. To start with, Mitchell's is located about 1 mile out of Chester centre, which is easily walkable through some of the most beautiful tree lined streets I have ever seen, some of the houses here are to die for, so on a warm, summers evening it's a pleasure to stroll into the city. The room we stayed in (1) was gorgeous and had recently been upgraded due the fabulous bathroom being obviously bran new, the decor being old and ultra modern making for lovely eclectic mix, all done to a fantastic high quality standard. The whole building is immaculately decorated in antiques and old wooden floors and beautiful carpets and matching decor, all my favourite, if I owned a guest house, this is how I'd have it. The attention to detail is extraordinary, I've never seen anything quite like it before, everything you could ever need is supplied in an immaculately clean state. You could spend all day in your room with a magnifying glass looking for dust and would be wasting your time, it was spotlessly clean. And to top it all the parrot in the kitchen says goodbye and hello when you leave and enter the building, so funny and made it all so special. The breakfast was excellent and was served by the lovely owners in the finest bone china and cutlery, again, everything was there that you needed and was displayed and presented perfectly. I would have no problem at all in recommending the Mitchell's guest house to anyone visiting Chester, it was fantastic and will definitely choose here again the next time we visit. You would struggle to find any better for any price.

Overall my stay was really nice. It's a modern well equipped hotel. Close to the city being only a couple minutes walk away, but still on the outside for quiet. The beds are super soft and airy. I had a really good nights sleep. Although the fire alarm went off in the morning, 9:30 and lasted a minute. The breakfast at Michael Caines restaurant was really good, so I'd imagine the regular meals would be equally as nice. I'd stay here again if i visit Chester again.

Beautiful rooms and bathrooms, we requested a high floor - this was a great idea as much better view and no one walking past your window - I would definitely recommend! Free car parking was very helpful and just a short walk into the centre of Chester along the river. View was over the car park and could just see the river over the top of the pub. Only downside was view isn’t over the river and bathrooms were very noisy when running the water so we got awoken early while next door were showering!

Apartment was perfect for our group of girls on a hen do. So close to centre, close to train station. The apartment itself was immaculate and had everything we needed and more. The beds were so comfortable, the living and kitchen area were a good size and had more than enough plates, glasses and cooking equipment. We loved the hot tub and balcony area. The hosts of this property took very good care of us, although I did not meet them, they kept in contact with me by email and text and offered to sort out any taxis or other things for us which we didn't need but we're grateful for them offering. They had made a real effort to make the apartment feel like a home before we arrived with the radio on and a few little extras which were totally unexpected. I would absolutely stay here again.
