Secluded, quiet, and serene. Rooms made the best of old building restrictions and the bed was the best we have had in several different hotels. Staff were exceptionally polite, courteous, and helpful. Rooms were clean - generally too warm and the bedding too thick but that’s just personal taste. The shower design over the bath was a very tight fit. Only minor issues were: a restaurant where you have to dress smart casual (I am on holiday and didn’t have stuff that complied) and yet it’s ok to eat in the brasserie and walk around in dressing gowns after spa treatments. Just seemed a pointless restriction. The tv was terrible, poor signal, poor channel choice, the picture didn’t even fit on the screen, and it was skewed red. We hardly used it - so didn’t mention this and give them a chance to correct it - so only a minor issue for us.

Regular visitor to the Lakes and have tried lots of different hotels. the Castle Inn is one of the best hotels, clean, good value, rooms and bathroom are a good size, we only had a standard room but it was a decent size and bed was huge and oh so comfy. Unfortunately, we had a poor view of the carpark through our window but it didn't prevent our enjoyment.Have recommended it to family and friends, already booked by our friends.

The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They were attentive but not intrusive. The hotel is beautifully situated and there were wonderful views out of our bedroom and dining/sitting areas. It is an excellent spot to walk from. The food in the evening was of Michelin star quality. The cooked breakfast was perfect. I couldn't recommend this hotel more highly. We will definitely be returning.

clean and cosy hostel with everything you need. WiFi was down at the time of my stay but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing - we kept ourselves entertained in the hostels bar and played a few board games they have to lend. The kitchen was well equipped so food prep was easy. We didn't buy food from their menu, but it did look good! This hostel is set within a beautiful setting - surrounded by Hills with a lovely stream on the doorstep, plenty of walks in the area, stunning views from our room, and perfect for star gazing on a clear night. It's also only a short drive into Keswick and Derwent water. Child friendly, dog friendly, suitable for groups and perfect for couples - I'd highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking to spend a few days in the hills.

We stayed last week in September, the rooms are a bit small but very clean and tidy, have a kettle and all the bits you want to make a hot drink, the shower is lovely and hot, very powerful too which is great after a long walk in the rain. The breakfast is continental but loads of choice, as a couple who always go for the fry up it made a nice change and we really enjoyed it. The location is beautiful and has lovely views of fields and mountains. They have wifi but gets a bit slow in the evenings when everyone is on it. The ladies and gentleman that worked there were always lovely and welcoming and happy to do anything for you. Really enjoyed our stay and definitely would stay there again.

The owners were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was amazing. Our room, while quite small, was very clean and we had everything we needed. Next time I would try to book an en suite room as our private bathroom was a bit of a faf to go down a small flight of stairs and lock it after use to protect our belongings. It did not, however spoil our visit and, should we stay in Keswick again, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here!!

Located in front of a garden and golf course,few min walk from the main street in Keswick. We stayed in a turret room that can be smaller than normal rooms but allow us to enjoy the scenic view from the small space upstairs. The stuff were very welcoming, and we truly enjoyed the excellent dinner. Considering the price we paid, it should be one of the best options to stay for you as well, never disappointing!

The Hostel is still suffering from the flooding recently but they are making a good fist of it. The major issue remaining is the lack of a kitchen for them to offer breakfasts although visitors can cook small meals for themselves. Bedrooms are excellent, quiet and clean with very good loos and showers close at hand. Try comparing the price with the cost of a local B&B - and the hostel is right in the centre of Keswick.

Lovely room. Breakfast Chef couldnt cook an egg no matter if you wanted srambled, fried or poached. Was either not cooked or cooked to death. Bacon like cardboard. Room could do with a small fridge. Restaurant had strict dress code but allowed waiting staff to neck behind buffet bar. Starters & main were gourgous from restaurant menu. Need another option when eating. Maybe a bar menu. Only options according to a few different members of staff are either outside or restaurant . We didnt want either every night so ate at other places most of the week. When you have had tiring day you dont always want to put trousers on when it a heatwave and lots of midges outside due to closenss to water and right next to road so outside wasnt comfortable. found a conservatory area on last day but low sofas not comfy to eat from. Good Gins but crap tonics ruins it so didnt have muc ! Get Fevertree! Overall was very clean comfortable room. Could do with some ork on customer services

We planned to end our anniversary weekend break in a nice place, and chose Lyzzick Hall based on the good reviews. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist informed us that they cancelled our booking and sold our room to someone else. As we had a confirmed booking to be paid in full at arrival we have serious doubts about the reason why the hotel did that. Apparently the hotel tried to get a pre-payment trough our credit card and that was turned down by the credit card company. The hotel never warned us, or tried to phone us. They did send a mail, at the day of arrival, which we of course never read since we were hiking. The receptionist phoned a couple of befriended hotels to find lodging, but as it was a peak weekend, there was no vacancy anywhere. Then 'by miracle' the receptionist found a solutions: we could stay in two separate single rooms. Having no other options we accepted against our will. The both of us got each our own depressing little room. We were not in the mood to use any of the amenities, and skipped their 'fine' dinner. Breakfast was good, but we didn't linger. At checkout we paid the full price as if we had the booked double room. No discount, no compensation of any kind and no apologies. We left with a bitter feeling. Definitely will not return, nor can we recommend this hotel.

This hotel is conveniently located near the Coast to Coast walk which I was doing. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. However £80 for an overnight stay for a solo traveler seemed excessive compared to all the other hotels and B&Bs I stayed at along the way. I could not see the justification for this other than it is peak season and there didn't seem to be a lot of competition in the small Rosthwaite village. The breakfast however was exceptional.

Very satisfactory. Value for money as we got a very clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staffs. Hearty breakfast with the best croissant ever tasted by my husband. Even better than in Paris, he claimed. Highly recommended to those visiting Keswick. Beware of parking problems though, all are paid carparks located just outside of central area. Do your homework about parking if you will be driving. We had a troublesome time with parking our car (not The Inn's fault - the hotel doesn't come with free parking. Looking at the town layout, I'm sure a lot of other hotels are the same).

It was the best hotel that me and my boyfriend loved it so much! It was such a beautiful place to stay in with the full course English breakfast. Shampoo, shower gel and lotions are all provided in the room. You can make your own chocolate drink in the room and put on some marshmallow on top which I did it.Love it so much with all the facilities and the room is superb cozy that we had for the whole trip. Will definitely come back again if there's a chance and may stay longer for the next trip.
