Traveling to Slovenia? Find Ljubljana hotels

After a week in Venice, celebrating my mother's birthday along with my wife, we journeyed to Slovenia to spend 3 days exploring Ljubljana and its surrounding towns. We'd booked Dvor Tacen based on the strength of other reviews and the fact that it was technically in Ljubljana but wasn't directly downtown (we had a car, but if you don't, there's a bus line directly in front that will take you to downtown in 10-15 minutes). We arrived exhausted, were greeted by an extremely helpful employee name Tina, and then went up to our rooms. There are 7 rooms total and both of our rooms were exceptional: large, with soothing lighter woods, clean, comfortable beds and bedding (the most comfortable of our trip), a wonderful shower, and windows everywhere. The hotel overlooks the Sava river and because we had fairly heavy rain on our last day, the river was churning quite impressively. On a sunny afternoon, we ran for an hour through farms and neighborhoods near the bed and breakfast: we count those views and dappled sunlight among the highlights of the trip. Breakfast is on the basement level of the hotel, and it seems to be enjoyed by neighborhood visitors and other travelers too. We initially were concerned of nighttime noise associated with the restaurant (it becomes a bar and cafe (good desserts!) at night), but the windows are excellent and we weren't bothered at all. I'd highly recommend staying here--it allows you a chance to see an urban and rural environment without sacrificing amenities or natural beauty.

four star hotel some 5 kilometers from the center of the town. Standard/comfort of the rooms (too small, bathroom miniature...) doesnot match the price, especially if you pay the list price. If you come by car you will pay EUR 15 for overnight parking (not whole day!) in the nearby public garage. The most of the guests are groups of tourists that stay one or two nights in Ljubljana. This could mean that the small reastaurant will be overcrowded at the breakfast time. Don't be suprised if you bath tabs do not function properly (water too cold or too hot). Location of the hotel is not perfect either. If you want to enjoy Ljubljana's nightlife it means that you'll have to use either the public transport or (late in the night the only solution) very expensive Ljubljans taxis. Unfortunately, the prices of all hotels in Ljubljana (and in most other places in Slovenia) are exagerated and it is a commong habit taht they rate themselves 1 or 2 categories higher than they'd deserve when considering what they offer for the price charged

When we 1st arrived in the accommodation, Be Ti was the one who checked us in, she had provided us a lot of information about the city centre, when we asked her regarding to the local attraction, she went out her way to help us arranged a day tour with Ana (her Partnership) for the places we would like to visit. Ana was very knowledgeable and friendly, we shared and know a lot of things from our conversation for the country during the trip. We were famished when we 1st checked in and were introduced to the local foods by Be Ti, the Hotel foods were amazing and tasty. After our day trip when we are on our way back to the Hotel, we were told that the Hotel restaurant was closed by the time we reach, Ana called Be Ti and spoke about our desire to have restaurant food, to our surprise, Be Ti agreed and went o prepare the food despite the restaurant was closed. We were very grateful and will definitely return to this Hotel. Way to go Be Ti and Ana. Thank you for making our trip memorable.

Really great hotel - seems to be the perfect size and blend of professional and familial. The breakfast is excellent, the rooms are really nice and well-appointed. The whole property is immaculately clean and neat. The service and staff are really exceptional, and do a great job to make everyone feel at home and cater to their needs. We were so happy here on our short break we cancelled another local Ljubljana hotel and came back for an extra night!

Considering the hotel location and the distance from the city center (Ljubljana), it is just 5-10 mins away by taxi and the hotel is still attractive to guests who want clean room and good service from a hotel. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and overall satisfactory level is good in overall except for restuarant. There is only a bar offering pizza and it is hard to have a nice meal as a dinner. Breakfast is okay.

Everything is great about this guesthouse apart from the slightly longer distance from the city centre compared to other apartments. Kitchenette is great and we had dinner there one night as it was awful weather and there was everything we needed. Coffee machine free to use and kettle with fruit teas. all Shared rooms are very clean and with one bathroom per floor, which has 3-4 rooms, it could get crowded but was not for us as the rooms were not full. This is perfect for an explorer or couple who want to keep costs low with accommodation but require a clean, friendly place to stay and don’t mind a 15 minute or so walk down the river to the city centre- (bars and cafes are much closer than 15 minutes).

highly recommend this hotel to everyone who is planning to visit Ljubljana in the future. Just locate at he heart of the city, easy walking proceed to the sightseeing spots, only 5 minutes walk to the riverside and so many shops and restaurants around. The hotel's staffs is excellent. Friendly and willing to help. There are no other choice than City Hotel in Ljubljana. I will come again, I love this country.

Everything was exceptional. The pleasant staff were on hand for little things which was very much appreciated. The owners of this apartment block have thought of everything and it was a pleasure to have stayed here. We were lucky enough to stay in the penthouse apartment with a huge outdoor area for ourselves but the other apartments also had use of communal outdoor areas. We had no issues with noise or smell from McDonalds. Nothing but good things to say. The first day we walked into the city, stopping off at the Union brewery for a drink and walked back, an enjoyable walk in this safe city. The second night after a day of water sports we got a taxi both ways, very reasonable. A luxurious modern apartment which oozes luxury and quality. The cleanliness deserves a special mention. I have never stayed anywhere as clean as this, it was spotless, made our stay very enjoyable. And a great washing machine with laundry tablets provided, just superb. Thank you, we hope to stay here again.

We had a lovely time during our 4 nights at Hotel Nox! We stayed on the brand new third floor, so our room was impeccable: clean, spacious and modern, we loved the styling (every room is different) and space. The bathroom was particularly clean, with lots of light. We even had a balcony! Definitely a very cosy, comfortable place to stay. The Hotel is situated by the road (thought noise was not a problem). It's possible to take a bus into town; this takes 20 minutes – though note that you'll need to have a Ljubljana "LPP" travel card already (you can buy one from the "Petrol" gas station down the street). The staff were exceptional, particularly John/Jean – incredibly friendly, chatty and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble (even a Cappuccino at 11pm!). Breakfast was great, with plenty of fruit, coffee, tea, etc. Parking was easy too. Would definitely recommend staying here!

The staff were really nice and helpful. I had some issues with my phone and in urgent need to buy a new one, not knowing the language , the guy receptionist helped me to call out the phone store and even pointed the directions to get there. I was really grateful for that ! Everything in this hostel is great, the toilets and room are clean. The kitchen needs some improvement though, there are always dishes piling in the sink, making washing difficult. Also wish there are basic ingredients like pepper, sugar and oil available .

It was located by the river and only a few steps from one of the main bridges. On the arrival, the apartment staff kindly showed me the neighborhood and gave me some tips on good places to visit and nice restaurants. She was super nice! The room was kept clean. The interior and furniture were cute and confortable. If I ever go back to Ljubliana, I would like to stay there again.

We booked this as an overnight stay on our way to Croatia. The staff were fabulous, very friendly and welcoming. We had 3 expensive mountain bikes on the car and upon check-in were offered to lock them in the garage for safety. The service level was outstanding and nothing was too much bother. Biggest bonus was the aircon in the room, at 36 degrees it was much needed. We ate at the hotel, good food and surprisingly cheap! Breakfast is included and is ample. We will return for a longer stay to explore this area and lake bled.

Was looking for a place near enough to old town Ljubljana but without parking hassles. This fit the bill perfectly. Clean, large comfortable rooms. Attached restaurant good and lively. A 5 euro taxi to center or a 40 minute walk. We did both. Very helpful staff. And free parking. Convenient for visiting surrounding areas as well. Would recommend, especially for those with a car.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Upon my arrival, Milena met me and took me through everything with the apartment, and explained how to get around town, what to do and see, and even the best places to eat, shop and relax. She was very considerate and accommodating in every regard. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone else staying in Ljubljana. Five stars plus one!

Damien and the team couldn't have done more for us. I was worried about no lift in the building but before I could blink he had our bags carried up to the room. Our travel connections onwards fell through and the guys here actually researched our options for us. They helped us with tips on local attractions and what to take. Talk about relaxing, we started each day with a good breakfast, cereals, breads, cold cuts and espresso coffee, could take time downstairs over a drink or an Irish coffee on a cold day and enjoy a hot bath too. Great job Guys, we really felt special from having time at Macek Rooms Hotel. You and lovely Ljubljana have added to our European holiday. Cheers, Linds and Sue Brisbane.

We were very pleased with the apartment. We had the one bedroom apartment, it was very spacious, had everything you need in the kitchen and was very clean. The receptionist was very pleasant and very helpful. The location was great, easy to walk all around the old town and up to the castle. Very pleased with our choice. We will definitely stay there again and Ljubljana was delightful.

We had a great time at the hostel celica,the staff were very friendly and the building fascinating. Your room is actually a converted prison cell that dated back to the 1890´s. The hostel neighbours an anarchist squatting area that features murals on its walls and a grungy bar with cheap beer where we got stuck watching an Italian-Irish folk punk band!? During the day we walked into town and got the firnuncular railway to the top of the hill overlooking a third of Slovenia and saw through a couple of great museums. well recommended!

the apartments are located in a quiet area not far from the major highway which makes getting to locations in a car very easy. there is a supermarket nearby (10mins walk), and on-site parking. the rooms are reasonably spacious and well appointed although the kitchen is very small (microwave & hotplate only, no stove). it was a little cold when we were there (spring). the apartments are very handy if you have a car, but not for public transport. it was a little expensive for what you get.

We had a great time at this hotel. While it was showing its age and a bit of lack of maintenance- or lack of having invested in quality items during the initial refurbishment of this very old apartment building- it was charming. The rooms were huge, including a full-kitchen with electric stove, simple set of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and silverware. The mini refridgerator was just large enough to put some personal items inside along with the mini-bar drinks. The bathroom was a bit odd; it was quite noisy and the shower very old (no bathtub as advertised) so we were not happy with that, but the other rooms were so large it was an ok balance at the end. We used the gym one night, and it was very modern. The breakfast was just 5 euro per person, with heaps of fruits, meat selection, breads, and pastries. Even though the bathroom set-up was poor, we will return again because the rooms were large and for the convenient location.
