Minakami hotels & accommodations

Osenkaku, Takaragawa Onsen is one of the best onsen resorts in Japan. The resort was located in Gunma prefecture. You can access the resort with ease from Tokyo station (shinkansen), in which will take you about 75 minutes from Tokyo station to Jomo-Kogen station, then, a resort shuttle bus will pick you up from there and will take approximatety 40 more minutes to reac...

Of the four Ryokans I have stayed in in Japan (Nara, Kyoto, Hakone), Micasa in Minakami was both the most memorable and the best value. If you are debating if the trek to this remote town is worth it, it is. I recommend staying for two nights and springing for one f the rooms with a private onsen (especially for couples). In addition to the men’s and women’s onsen (whi...

Clean, well maintained place just about 10 minutes hotel transfer ride from Jomo Kogen Station where we touched down from Tokyo. Rooms are very clean with in room bathrooms and toilet. However our only fret was bathroom hot water didn't last for more than 5 mins as they encourage guests to go public onsen to bath (in the nude of course) which we are not comfortable wit...

First thing, the place is very nice, mostly locals which is what i really like as there are not many rowdy tourists around. Breakfast is pretty boring, but i guess i have been spoilt by the extensive breakfast spread provided by other Japanese Ski Resorts in Hokkaido. Room is big and clean. Staff are helpful in the best they could but it will be better if there are...

Our stay at Tenjin lodge was amazing. We headed us to Tenjin lodge to canyon with Canyons Adventure company and Tenjin lodge worked with us to book the whole weekend. The staff were incredibly personable and friendly. We were greeted with smiling faces, a grand tour of the facility and a chance for us to enjoy the evening in a laid back atmosphere. It was the perfect e...

Fantastic service. Adorable ryokan on the outskirts of Minakami (the next train station over) that has outdoor and indoor baths. Wonderfully quiet for anyone looking for a chill night. There aren't any restaurants or convenience stores nearby, so you should bring food with you if you don't order their dinner (they have snacks as well).

Owner was warm, and it was nice socialising with families from Japan and travellers from all over the world. Will definitely visit again. Location is a 10min drive from JR Minakami station, but the owner provides transport to and from the station so accessibility is fine.

An old hotel showing a bit of age, but good for the traditional Japanese experience. The highlight of our trip were the staff. Extremely welcoming, helpful, friendly and hospitable. We were in awe at the lengths they went to accommodate us - they even went to the trouble of lighting a wood burning stove while we waited in reception even though it was just 5 minutes. ...
