Traveling to Japan? Find Miyakojima hotels

Great stay overall, villa inside was very well cleaned everyday with no funky toilet smell like other places we went, fresh towels and good quality toiletries and washing machine (great job housekeeping!). We had issue with big bugs at outdoor area/tub but staff was apologetic and tried best to clear. Best if you get a villa that doesnt face the jungle. Wonderful to have the beautiful Imgya marine park right at our doorstep, and short hikes along the hill with great scenery. Only downsides are food is very average, little options and very pricey if you do not make reservations at resort restaurants. Be prepared for limited information for details/tours/facilities as it is mainly catered for local japanese customers. We hope to return to coral village for more nature fun but hope it will not be so pricey to stay longer!

Since we didn't want to spend a lot of money on the hotel, we went with this more because it was ecomicall. We thought, ”we’d save money on the hotel and spend that money on marine activities instead.” We were delightfully surprised when we arrived at the hotel. It was new and clean, and the hotel staff was very friendly. Our room was an ok size for just the two of us (especially considering this is Japan.) We chose the breakfast plan based on the reviews we read, and were we glad we did! The breakfast buffet was fantastic!! They had everything; freshly baked bread, pastries, eggs, sausages, cereals, fresh fruits, traditional Japanese breakfast, Okinawan food, and a good selection of drinks. The buffet catered to different food preferences, so we could enjoy different things every morning. It was definitely worth the money, and we had a good experience with the hotel. Next time we are in Miyakojima, we will choose this hotel again without hesitation.

From the moment you walk into the lobby you are immediately blown away with the view of the sea and pool. The design of the hotel is very fresh, sleek, and modern, and it provides a luxurious feel for a great price. The hotel restaurant has some of the best food I've eaten in Japan- very suited for westerners. I usually don't get breakfast at Japanese hotels (it's usually sashimi, salad, and miso), but this breakfast is worth the add on! The pool isn't huge, but it was never busy (I went in early June), and the rooftop deck offered some great views. DEFINITELY get a room with a balcony. The hotel is situated perfectly to watch the sunset. There is a beach right next to the hotel, a Family Mart convenience store right down the road, and some restaurants in walking distance. The hotel is about a 12 minute ride from the airport, and it costs around ten dollars for a taxi. If you like to walk, you can get to Sunayama beach in 30 minutes!

This affordable hotel is not near anything other than a wonderful beach! There is a free delicious breakfast that was even better on the weekends and a great bath open until 2300. We'd walk 5 minutes to the best part of the prettiest beach in Miyako and then come back and relax in the shared baths. We had a western style room with a bathroom which was nice but even a room without a bathroom would be fine because the shared bathrooms (one big one for the building) was fine. The hotel is geared towards divers and has a indoor pool for training but we didn't do any diving this time, just relaxed on the beach.

Spacious room. Has a living area with coffee table to dine comfortably. Also well equipped with washing machine and dryer which we used to wash our dirty clothes. Also has mircowave and hot water dispenser. Very clean room too. Location is nice and quiet. Has a family mart nearby so very convenient. Highly recomended! Note: check in is at a separate building right behind the place. Please prepare cash to pay at the property.

Pros: The hotel sits right in front of the beach, not the nicest one on the island but offers a good view. The breakfast was so good it made us look forward to it every night. Staffs are friendly with limited English. Cons: As other reviewers mentioned, the room is small and TV is pathetic and the window does not open fully making the balcony kind of pointless... I asked the cleaning staff to unlock the window but that was never fixed till our last day. Bike rental is100 yen per hour but many were often reserved so there were never enough available for 4 of us. Overall, I think this hotel is a good value for money.

I had a fantastic stay at Guest House Miyakojima. The owners are a lovely couple and the facilities are great for what you pay for - plus there's draft beer on tap! The gorgeous Maehama beach is a short walk away but most of the other sights are a bit further away so you either need a bicycle or a car to get anywhere. But as a place to just get away from it all and unwinds for a few days, Guest House Miyakojima can't be beaten

The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and it was easy walking distance to many restaurants and the beach. It was a great price for what it offered- typical Japanese style 1 BR apt. Comfortable for my son and I, but would be tight for 3 adults. There's not much of a view, but we weren't sitting around the room- we were gone exploring, so we didn't care. I'm glad we stayed here!

Our stay at the Condominium Hillside Sands was excellent to say the least. We stayed in the Cherry suit in the bottom floor and had access to two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area, back patio, laundry facilities, and a couple bicycles. The room itself was comfortable, but the bathroom were facilities just outside the room. It's more of a big house then a condominium and felt like our private house because no one was staying in the only other room on the bottom floor. We didn't rent a car because we both didn't have international drivers licenses. I'd recommend you rent a car if staying in Miyakojima. But really, the taxi fares we paid would have cost the same. Sunayama beach is only a 10 minute bike ride away and was our favorite beach between Maehama and Sunayama. The condominium/house is about $13 away from the airport by taxi and $7 away from the city centre, $25 to Maehama beach. On our last night there we were treated to a Okinawan traditional BBQ by the condominium owners who were so friendly and so happy to have us there during our stay. The people we met were incredibly friendly, the food (and beer/sake) was excellent and endless, and we felt so lucky to have stayed here. It was so much more than a hotel. I can't recommend this place more, especially if you really want to get away from all the tourists and experience something unique. We loved it and wish we could have stayed more than the four nights we did. Thank you very much Shimijiri and Mitsuko!

This is a beautiful place, you will need a rental car on the island wherever you stay and this place is in the center if the island so as good a spot as anywhere. The beds in the tent are firm and large, a little damp but it is camping after all. You use toilet and showers/bath in the main house (which is lovely) and if you ask the owner will let you use the kitchen or his bbq to cook. We stayed in November in the low season, might be different when more people are staying...but it was great.
