Traveling to United Kingdom? Find Nottingham hotels

I just want to say that the staff are all very helpful and friendly, from reception to housekeeping to restaurant service staff; giving special mention to Shawn at the reception, for his enthusiasm in his job. I have had a very pleasant stay of 3 nights. Hotel is a stone throw to Nottingham Castle and the main shopping area. There are a few nice eateries/pubs to hang out in a lane next to the hotel (St James Street). University of Nottingham is easily accessible by a 15-min bus ride from bus stops nearby. Coach and train stations is only 5 minutes away by taxi, from the hotel. Will definitely recommend anyone coming to Nottingham to this charming hotel.

I booked the DeVere Orchard Hotel for the autumn University of Nottingham Open Days, unfortunately for the wrong weekend. When I tried to amend the booking on Agoda’s website, it wouldn’t let me, so I rang the hotel who tried to help. However, because the booking was through Agoda, the change would have to be done through them. I rang Agoda and although promised the booking would be changed to the correct date, 2 days later a message was left on my phone that the hotel was fully booked and no change was possible. £260 for two rooms that the hotel wanted to help change, but 2 days with Agoda trying and the date couldn’t be changed. Hotel looks fab, and I understand is fab. Agoda, really? Love the site, but buyer beware if you have a problem. FYI, we had to stay at the Marriott in Leicester. I booked directly with the hotel. Sorry Agoda!

I was staying at the St. James Hotel as a solo traveller due to a course I was attending in Nottingham. When I arrived I was really impressed on the decor of the hotel and the staff were very welcoming. I was in an executive suite and it was spotless and very comfortable. This suite could definitely accomodate 2 people comfortably. On-suite with a shower but no bath, which didn't bother me, as the room had other amenties such as kettle, coffee maker and daily supply of biscuits (which I appreciated). Only downfall, no fridge to keep drinks cool but I could cope with that. Breakfast was good when served buffet style, a bit slower when staff are serving each table, however I didn't mind the wait. The only downside was menu, the food wasn't that varied so I rarely ate in the evenings in the hotel. However, the location of the hotel was fanstastic- next door to the castle and only 10 minutes walk to the city centre - so finding food wasn't a problem. My wi-fi worked a treat (despite negative reviews regarding no wi-fi) and so I was able to work in the evenings when needed. Check-in and check out was smooth, no problems. I couldn't fault this hotel - I'm suprised it is a 3 star - and I plan to visit again for leisure as the style and location of the hotel is ideal. I would advise anyone to book here if you want a clean, nicely decorated and comfortable hotel with friendly and accomodating staff. Thank you St. James Hotel, I'll be back very soon!

I had booked 'cosy' rooms which were just that, they were spotlessly clean and suited us. Breakfast (which was extra) was very good. The cost of Internet was £12.99 for 24 hours. The hotel which is situated in the centre of Nottingham was a perfect location for why we were there, however it would have been nice if the website let you know that there was a clock which chimed every hour on the hour, so if you are a light sleeper you were woken up every hour. The 'free' parking for the hotel is across the road in a public car park - it is very expensive if you stay in Nottingham after checking out of the hotel - we parked at 3.30pm the day before, checked out just before 10am, had our car park ticket 'validated' then left the carpark at 3.28pm and were charged £13.00. One word of caution, make sure you use the SATNAV postcode for the car park provided on the hotel website, otherwise you will get caught up in the one way system and drive around the centre of Nottingham a couple of times.

We stayed at the Gateway on a Saturday night. We'd had a cheap rate and were impressed to get a huge room, with a double bed, a leather sofa and a coffee table. We wondered if we'd been upgraded. The night was all right, apart from the noise, but I guess it's more because of the guests than the hotel itself. The breakfast was huge, with as much as you like of everything that makes a good English breakfast!

These apartments are great and I would definitely recommend them over a hotel. The rooms are all a good size and generally the place is spotless. The kitchen is well equipped - no cafetiere though! The whole apartment is contemporary in style and luckily there was someone on reception when we arrived as the access code did not open the front door however, I called them and they were there straight away. There is a secure car park under the apartments that you pay £12 a night for. I had not booked this as I thought I would be able to arrange it when I arrived but I phoned them and they took payment over the phone so all sorted. It's a ten minute walk in to the centre of town where you can find everything you need and some great shops. My only reservation is that there is no soundproofing and you can hear road noise occasionally and noise from other apartments - the man upstairs had a cough and at one point it sounded like he was sat on the end of my bed!!

This is the second time we have stayed at the venue and have eaten on numerous occasions. Highly recommend a visit. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Agoda didn’t book us in at all but this was no issue and was quickly resolved. Fab location for a night away with lots of pubs/bars to visit or just stay at the venue and enjoy the pretty gardens or court yard. Rooms clean and tidy. Bed extremely comfortable.

Booked for a concert in Nottingham. Easy access to the city centre by bus, tram or train within a 15 minute walk. Room was clean and comfortable, stayed in single room with shared bathroom. Full cooked breakfast included was a bonus. Only minor negative for my room was the need to be mindful of the stairs down and up again between the room and the bathroom which could have been tricky during the night.

We stayed here as we were going to a wedding at Nottingham University. This was about a 10 minute taxi ride away, costing around £6. Location is good if you like McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Costa etc, in the middle of a retail park. Plenty of shops and chain restaurants nearby. Good if you want to drive everywhere but not so good if you want to walk to the city (we tried in the dark and rain but got lost!). The room was very clean and comfortable and the air con was a godsend! The staff were generally friendly and helpful. After arriving back from the wedding in the early hours of Saturday, I asked if we could check out a bit later in the morning. The kind staff member said we could check out at 12 instead of 11 at no extra charge. We were extremely grateful for this! The hotel has secure, free parking which is also a bonus as many we looked at didn’t. There was a hairdryer, iron and ironing board which were very useful. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom though which we found odd!!

Great Hotel, Great Staff especially John on reception and the deputy Manager. If you book this hotel and have kids under 14 you will not be able to use the swimming pool after 5 pm. The Health Club Staff are jobsworths and will cause inconvenience and disappointment to your kids if you expect to use this advertised facility after 5. As you can see I have given this hotel an excellent rating so don't let this put you off booking. By the way, we did use the pool but only after the intervention of Deputy Manager , if you are reading this....Thanks !

Hotel is nice located. Victoria Centre has everything from supermarkets, computer shopes, wet market, apparel, shoes to what ever you want.It is minutes from City Centre with all its reataurants and bars. It is clean and neat. But it is it's management and staff, which makes your stay different. They will guide you for Nottingham life, where and whats happening, where to buy staff , how to book taxi cheaper and be very helpful. Thank you guys!
