Find Hotels in Otaru, Japan

We arrived at the hotel and quite impressed with the room's decoration. The room is clean, as it is normally do in japan, but more spacious. The public bath was more that we expected. The close proximity to the JR station let us retired our luggage and save our times running around to find its location. Though it's not located next to the canal like many other hotels in Otaru, I still found it a reasonable walking time to other attractions. But for me, its location next to JR station was my first priority as we arrived by train. If you like to soak yourself after a long trip, its public bath can serve you very well with 2 indoor baths and 2 semi-outdoor baths. There are also free washing machines, but you still have to pay for the dryer. The price was reasonable, but probably it was not in high season for our visit and there was some kind of promotion.

The hotel is about 10 min walk from Otaru Station and less than 5 min walk to the famous Otaru Canal. There are a lot of restaurants and shops around. Hotel is fairly new, breakfast choices were average with a selection of western and Japanese style. The public bath facilities was helpful after a long day walk. You can enjoy a special blend ginger in the evening especially cater for those who have taken the bath. We booked a Tatami style room, room size was consider good in Japan. Overall, it was a good experience.

nord otaru located at the walking distance from ontaru railway station. just walk straight from the station front for few minutes. you will get a pleasant and warm welcome feeling when you arrive ontaru by train and walk to the nord otaru hotel because of the good hotels and shops along the way with an exiting view of the canal in front of the hotel and the sight end of mountain scenery. in the morning i walked to the canal to fill my drinking bottle with the natural water supply at the tourist view point and enjoy the fresh air of park along the canal. when sun started too warm, i then walked further to the sushi road nearby where the colorful sushi were selectable in various pricing and styles. the shopping street in the same area of nord hotel make the day more joyful by the sound from music box everywhere ...all of these are just something not more than 10minutes walk from the..nord ontaru hotel.........

I travel with my parents and stay at Grand Park Otaru Hotel for 1 night, even the hotel is not close to Otaru like many other hotel but location of the hotel is good cos has a walk way from Otaruchikko JR station and also the hotel is stand in the middle of two shopping malls which make it full of restaurant and outlet shop. You can always go to Otaru buy take JR train for two station long. The rooms are bigger than normal hotel room size in Japan and full of accommodation in the room make it a comfortable place to stay. All the staff are very friendly, I have an issue with a car rental company and ask one staff to help turn out he willing to help me through the end and also recommend me about the route for me to drive and places to go and travel.

This is my second time I have been visited Japan since 7 years. Otaru is always in my top list of the city where I would like to spend overnight here. For the accommodation, Hotel Sonia Otaru is well-designed for interior and exterior architecture in european concepts. The room is not too small for 2-3 persons or family members to fit in. Also, Onsen where is located on the 7th floor facing with stunning view of Otaru Canal can help you feel relaxed from exploring around the city all day long. More importantly, it is quite easy to find food and drink nearby the hotel with 3-10 minute walk. However, the check-in time of this hotel is at 3 p.m., so you can drop your lugguages with the front desk and go for a walk if you arrive early. Personally, I will be back to visit this city and will definitely stay here again soon.

Affordable price for couple if you choose one room for two person which has private bathroom, small double bed and non-smoking room. Got laundry downstairs only 200¥ and free dryer. Got heater, water heater and refrigerator in the room also which is so convenient. The hotel location is not so far from the otaru station. But u will get difficulty if u need to pull the luggage along with the snow to arrive at the hotel. We are so tired though. But i think its okay. Near to otaru canal and others. Recommended!!!

We had not done much research on accommodation in Otaru as it was a weekend and most of the hotel rooms were fully booked. We had not expected to stay in a Japanese room but we would like to give it a try since Kuramure Ryokan was among the few with a vacant room. It turned out to be a big surprise because the whole package of experience was well worth the price. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff with great smile and welcome snacks along with a cup of green tea. Then a staff member led us to our room and patiently introduced all the features in the room, like the telephone hidden somewhere, amenities that can be taken away by guests, private hotspring... He then highlighted that all the drinks in the minibar, including beer, and the drinks at the bar are complimentary! Even our room was just a garden view Japanese room, it was simply yet fashionably designed. It was clean and comfortable. A girl was also sent to our room to make our beds before sleep. We were very impressed by the nice touch seen everywhere in the hotel. And we regretted arriving in the evening as we could have spent a whole day in there without going out. There is even a library with vinyl records that music fanatics would be obsessed with. The outdoor and indoor public hotsprings are also not to be missed. It takes only 20 minutes to drive to Otaru downtown.

We stayed a night here because all the hotels in otaru were over priced for the weekend! The hotel is only about 30 mins drive from central otaru but way more comfortable than most hotels in otaru! The room was beautiful, comfortable beds and great scenery. Only downside is that the onsen is located in a nearby hotel and a short drive away! Would definitely stay again any time!!

The hotel is not near the center of Otaru. But the hotel can arrange a free shuttle bus for you to transport from Otaru JR station. You should call to book it before you go.Every room have a private hot spring. So you can enjoy a sea view when you having a hot spring in your room. It is quite suitable for the couples and families. And the food in the hotel restaurant is very delicious including breakfast and dinner.

While getting there was slightly arduous (we had to drag our heavy luggage through snow and ice), everything after we arrived was great. We were speedily checked in, had hot water waiting for us in the room with a potful of tea leaves, and were generally made to feel very at home. The location of the ryokan is excellent; just around the corner from the appealing Sakaimachi street (a must visit) and also just a few minutes from the Otaru canal (also a must visit, especially at night!) Recommended if you want a Ryokan experience in charming Otaru.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews and also the price. Stayed for 1 night after we explored Otaru and needed a hotel before driving off to Sapporo the following morning. Location wise - wasn't that ideal was it was around an hour's drive from Otaru Canal to hotel. We had to drove through bendy roads up and across the mountain to get to the hotel. And it was late at night. Not wise if you are an inexperienced driver. Location will be perfect if you are looking to ski. This resort sits on a beautiful snow capped mountain. There in spring so there were still a little bit of snow. perfect for a winter getaway. Room - really huge and comfortable. was one of our best stays in Hokkaido. had all the amenities available for us. very well kept and clean. Other facilities - onsen are not included in the room package. have to pay extra charges to use it 900 yen if am not wrong. There is a public bath available for all but with a huge bathroom in the room, there is no need to visit that :) Did not have much time to explore the hotel as we checked in at 8 plus at night and left the next morning after breakfast. buffet breakfast is included in the package. quality food :) think ikura, salmon roe, onsen eggs, scrambled eggs etc etc. But you do have to wait for all the popular ones to be replenished. It gets wiped out by people really fast. Huge area for dining, spacious.

Had a 6.7 earthquake while staying at Nishiki Ryokan. Power out for several days and all a bit scary but Sun our host cared for us, fed us, and was very reassuring and attentative in a difficult and uncertain time. We ended staying for over a week, and inspite of the earthquake and aftershocks had a lovely time in Otaru, in no small measure due to Nikishi Ryokan and Sun's hospitality. Thank you for everything Sun.

Stayed at Furukawa for a night to explore Otaru. It was easy to get to from the JR station. The staff was always available to help. I loved that they had an english map for the area. Walking distance to the strip of stores/museums and right across from the Otaru Canal. I got a facial and a massage, both were thoroughly enjoyable and reasonably priced. The onsen was the icing on top. Clean and well designed facilities. I especially loved the outdoor onsen where I could put on a farmers straw hat to keep the snow at bay. I appreciate that they clean the onsens for an hour every night (early AM) and then flips the women and men so you get to enjoy both locations. I got a single nonsmoking room and it was big enough for me (5'8) with all the necessary amenities. Breakfast was delicious as well. It had the right amount of variety: traditional Japanese with seafood and porridge to western eggs with bacon/ham and assorted pastries. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend it!

We stayed in a 4 bedroom dorm which which was huge and very comfortable. Though we were supposed to be booked into a smaller 2 person room, we were allowed to stay at the larger 4 person dorm throughout our stay there as there were no other guests at the 4 person dorm. The owner was very helpful and detailed and provides transfer to Otaru Station in the mornings. Beautiful view of Otaru city from the rooftop of the accommodation.

Our stay was really good. We had a very late check in coming in from the ferry, and the owner left our key out for us. I was very glad to see the envelope with my name on it. Two things to keep in mind about this hotel though is that the walls are thin, so if their are children next door like was the case with us, you will need earplugs. Secondly, the hotel is at the top of a very steep and long hill. Fine if you are using public transportation, but if you are a bicycle tourist, prepare to walk.

The breakfast was a great plus for this small sized hotel. Although the 2 ladies managing the hotel operations do not speak English, the check in forms etc had simple English words that were enough for one to do the necessary admin paperwork. Language was not an issue as the ladies were very hospitable in ensuring a safe and comfortable stay. The breakfast was simply delicious and has a nice home-cooked feel to it. Despite the short 1 night stay, it was nice being situated next to the flowing rapids of Asari River. Pity the garden was quite bare due to the winter season. The hotel is away from Otaru city (though just abt 15 mins via the highway) so do put aside some time for travelling to and fro. Overall, a great place to relax away from the bustling city.

It is a love hotel so check-in/check-out process are not usual. It locates about 20 km. away from many tourist attractions but it is okay if your next plan is going to Sapporo or somewhere aound. Could not find anyone when we arrived. Reception did not speak English but using google translate to communicate with foreign guests. Parking is free. Spacious and clean room with necessary amenities.

When I made booking via Agoda, there is NO option for me to choose dinner inclusive! When we check in, we were told there is no restaurant in the hotel, we have to walk 10-15 minutes for dinner under heavy snow for dinner! However the restaurant do have dinner for some guests! Furthermore, there is no bathroom inside the room, if anyone does not want to have hotspring, the guest still need to go to the public shower room to take shower. Hence the hotel only provide you ONE service, that is Hotspring only! Therefore if any of your company is not prepared for this, you better choose the real hot spring hotel outside Otaru. For me, I don’t think I will come again.
