"This was our 2nd time with Amari. This time, with our parents, so we booked the 2 bedroom Suite. I had built a certain expectation based on our last experience--but some things have changed. Cons - The Suites are now located on a hill, constructed several years ago. They provide a buggy to take you there. These glass condo suites weren't built when we were there last time, so I wasn't expecting to be so distant from the pool and breakfast area. In fact, the location of our suite was further up the hill (several loops) making it way too far to walk down the lobby. This means relying all the time on the buggy. Not a big deal, since you just call and they come after 5 mins, but not the most convenient. Second, our suite was facing another suite's roof. So, all the effort to be high up on a hill, tucked in there, only to face the roof of another suite, after paying 'much more' was a bit frustrating. They did move us to another location the next day. So, that was nice. Pros - they are very attentive in addressing your needs. My husband pulled a muscle and needed a chiropractor on a Sunday, and one of the ladies in the Front desk was extremely accommodating and called several clinics and hospitals until we found one. They did relocate us to another room and provided an Anniversary cake for my parents. They were very generous with replacing the water bottles, fresh fruits, etc. The breakfast was expansive. Huge selection and the location of the breakfast area outdoors really makes you forget everything. It's serene, peaceful and just beautiful. I think it's the best property in Phuket, considering the island isn't really the most beautiful or romantic. It was a great way to end our trip in Thailand here, to relax, enjoy the neighboring islands, etc. My parents loved it, so that's the most important. If this is your 1st time in Phuket, it IS expensive...so bring some goodies from Bangkok. Rent a scooter...because Taxi drivers ask for ridiculous amount for such sh"

"We were only in Phuket for less than 24 hours, and decided on this large resort. We were happy to get into our room early, relax by the pool, and explore Patong Beach. The staff was so friendly, and the rooms were simple and comfortable, but the best part was the view!! We did not expect to have a full on view of the ocean, so it was a lovely surprise to see a balcony with a beautiful view of Patong Beach. We saw the most gorgeous sunset in Thailand from this balcony!! I absolutely loved the 2 pools (one with a waterslide), but the infinity pool is the real winner. With a swim up bar, and amazing views, it's the real star of this resort. I spent hours there in my less than 24 hour visit to Phuket, and don't regret it a minute! (Additional perk was that we had breakfast included, but were leaving around 6:30am, so they packed us our breakfast to go!). For a short stay, this is great!"

"hotel has been taken over by swissotel on 1 april - so after our original booking. we were upgraded from a 2 bed appartment to a 3 bed appartment which was enormous. also had a huge wrap around balcony as it was on the top (3rd) floor of the hotel. kitchen is basically a fridge sink and microwave so no cooker. but it's so cheap to eat oiut we didn't or wasnt going to use that anyway. pool is great and the hotel was busy for easter weekend but quieter afterwards. lots of families and extended families on holiday so wouldnt recommend for young couple. beach is literally a 5 min walk away (if that). best part of kamala beach too as it's away from the main drag. beach was beautiful and wonderful for the children. there was a tsunami alert whilst we were there and we had to evacuate - but this was just a walk up the mountain/hill behind the hotel. we were very lucky and nothing happened. however just be mindful that this could happen and think what you'd need in a grab bag - mosquito repellant - wet and dry flannels - towels to sit on - torch and your valuables and passports (not suitcase just small bag. breakfasts were wonderful withy best poached eggs made to order i've ever tasted. children ate too many of the wonderful pastries though! happy hour (2 for 1) is between 4 and 7 and includes all drinks - even childrens milkshakes so worth having one (or 2) before leaving the pool to get ready for a night out. kamala - as most of phuket is serviced by what they call the taxi mafia - just over priced taxis. grab a taxi from the airport & it's baht. try to get their number to use again if possible. if not it's baht return journey from taxis near hotel. "Hotel is very clean, location is very good which near a convenience store, local restaurant. American breakfast is quite good taste especially cold fruit salad. I like it very much. Pool access room is very good for family or friends who always enjoy and easy walk into the pool. This hotel has 3 big swimming pools which parallel to the length of stay. Only 1 bad thing – There is not water tube for toilet. P.S. Hotel actually name is Phuket Pool Lagoon not Kata Pool Lagoon. I would be back. "

"This is one of the best hostels, more like a hotel to me, that I stayed at in Thailand. I reserved the smallest private room and I was extremely happy with it: it was super clean, modern and functional. Everything worked 100%. The bathroom was clean and immaculate. Water temperature and pressure was excellent. The staff was friendly and excellent as well. I highly suggest that you utilize their inhouse travel services (STA Travel). Toni from STA, booked a full day island tour that was affordable and luxurious. That's all I'm going to say. If you can opt for a better package, go with it, you won't regret it. Also worth mentioning, is that there are so many activities within the hostel that can allow you to relax, socialize and network with people. Somedays, you can just stay inside the 'hostel', away from the hustle of Phuket within a nice environment and still enjoy yourself. Location is excellent: next to a lot of restaurants, food stalls, massage parlor and Walking ST."

"When we drove up to this resort, I was thinking wow this is an amazing property, wish it's where we are staying. Then I saw the sign and we all got excited. It has some serious curb appeal. We drove up, parked our car and saw a lot of construction still going on. Security called for 2 golf carts to come down and pick up our luggage and the 3 of us. We took a steep and dangerous ride, passengers in the back need to hang on for dear life. The reception desk is located outdoors under some of the architecture. A pool wraps around the front of some of the pool access rooms. It's beautiful, but in an Ikea sort of way. Our room, the sea view room, while somewhat stylish looks great with a wonderful view but that's just the surface. If you stay in the room, you will find that there's only about 2 outlets inside and 1 outlet on the balcony. The wifi signal was a bit weak but I speedtested it and it measured in at 5Mb up and down. The finishes in the room are pretty low quality but I've found that with a lot of Phuket hotels. The restroom facilities are bad as they give you pretty much no privacy. I wouldn't recommend it for a family stay. With only 2 outlets, you have to plug in the hair dryer outside of the restroom area. The doors are glass and frosted in some parts but lend very little privacy. The toilet room is separated from the shower but the door only goes part way up letting every little noise you make out into the living space. Water pressure was low on the rainfall showerhead. The bathroom counter hardly had any usable space, you better learn to live tight. Beds are super firm. There wasn't much consideration with regard to safety so you better watch your kids. The ride up to the property was dangerous as is the property itself. Every doorway has a ledge so the moment you step out, you are falling down and you can really hurt yourself if you're not careful. The pool is amazing, views of 2 beaches and it has a bar area. Some rooms will have pool access at thei"

"We stayed at the Seaview Patong Hotel at the end of March 2010, this being our second visit to Patong Beach, we stayed at the Amari Coral Beach on our last visit. We deliberated long and hard before booking this hotel as having had a wonderful experience at the Amari on our last visit we did not want to spoil our memories of Phuket by staying in a lower class hotel that potentially would not deliver the level of comfort and service that we had experienced before. We were NOT disappointed and for good reason 1) The location of the hotel is just about right, at the end of the resort so reasonably quiet with no noisy bars around, but a good 10-15 min stroll along the beach front road to the centre where everthing happens. Yes you will get bugged by the chinese lantern sellers, the market stall holders and the tailors along the way but this all adds to the buzz of the place and you simply say "no thanks" and they move onto someone who is interested in buying the latest fake whatever you fancy. There is a great bar called Komma a minute down the road that serves the coldest beers you will ever taste and superb food for cheap as chips prices - heaven after a hot day! 2)Patong Beach - Don't come here if you are expecting Patong Beach to hanker back to the old days - this resort has everything you may possibly want in terms of food, drink and entertainment - you can do a quiet or lively night out here no problem, its all available with Irish Pubs Scruffy Murphy's and Molly Malones providing outstanding live music in air conditioned comfort - they are well worth a visit. 3) The hotel - we paid just over half the price of what it would have cost to return to the Amari but felt we received service and facilities on a par with the higher priced hotel. As the Seaview Patong was a smaller hotel there were less noisy families around the two beatiful pools. The hotel provides a towel service which means you don't have to bother to pack your own. The variety and quality a"

"I was lucky enough to get to stay in this hotel after a terrible stay at a hotel earlier (Andatel Grande hotel Patong). Patong Bay hill has been the best i have stayed anywhere in phuket or south east asia probably (for the price ) and the view from the hotel is amazing. Its located on a very quiet hill away from the noise and lights of patong, Far not yet far. Perhaps 15 to 20 mins by walk. transport is not an issue at all as they provide free shuttle back and forth. Breakfast was awesome enjoyed it.the view from my pool access room was defintely the best one can get in phuket. service was excellent as well. they even provide complimentary cocktail drinks as well and also some nice fruits. fast check in / check out and excellent service by the local and russian receptionists there. wish the price was a bit lower other than that highly recommended will definitely stay again."
