Stayed here in mid-summer to attend a friend's wedding held on the hotel's grounds. Was pricey but worth it. Located at the foot of Lake Windermere, it's in a great spot to explore the picturesque Lakes District. The room I was given was fantastic; well appointed with lots of charm in a small annex off of the main hotel building. Although I didn't use it much, there was also a lovely garden at the rear and a swimming pool. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely peaceful stay and tasteful, modern room decor. Dinner and breakfast are superb, and good value for the quality. This place is more an upmarket bed and breakfast than a hotel (the owners state that they don't market it as a hotel, but booking websites I've been on seem to give the impression that it is). So if you're looking for hotel style space and facilities then give it a miss, but if you like a quiet, intimate atmosphere, comfortable room and great food then definitely worth a stay!

We had a lovely relaxing break. Arrived late afternoon and had a drink in the Dolly Blue bar which has lovely views of the river. We went out to Ulverston for the evening. This is a quaint little town with a wide selection of pubs and prices are reasonable. In the morning we are breakfast in the restaurant which was nice. I had kippers and poached egg which was really nice. The Spa which is just across the road from the hotel was also very nice although it's advisable to book any treatments in advance. We tried to book treatments for the following day and there was only a half hour slot left. We used the pool and jacuzzi as well as sauna and steam room. Facilities were spotlessly clean.
