Having stayed a full week I can help with some detailed information: 1)Value for money: Expensive for what it is, namely a disappointment. Cha Villa, instead of being a nice little hotel is a small pension with literally nothing to do especially if the weather is bad because the only attractive place, the garden, has no protection in case of rain. Upon arrival, first thing the woman owner asked had been to pay in advance for the entire stay in cash. 2)Location: It is some 150 m straight up from the port of arrival, ideally located; I would have given a five star rating if visitors would have been able to get a look on the sea which is not the case. 3)Cleanliness. At arrival, the room was clean. After, it depends on the visitor(s) I stayed a full week, the room has never been cleaned, the bed never arranged not to mention bed sheets changed not even the garbage pin emptied - Do it yourselves... 4)Villa Cha is run by a couple which speaks little English. The owner is nice but proved to be absent most of the time whilst his wife is clearly sullen and cash motivated. No smile. In comparison, the serviceman is genuinely friendly and warm hearted and deserves a nice mentioning. 5)Facilities: No proper breakfast but coffee/tea and toast is served against cash at overpriced rates at the small reception lobby where guests can get a Wifi connection. No Wifi in the rooms. Lobby closes at 6.p.m. If you need internet you have to stand near the locked entrance door to get a connection, regardless of rain and/or mosquito bites. A propos mosquitos: The are numerous and they make it impossible to stay in the garden in the evening. However, all rooms are equipped with a protection wire mesh and you are fully protected even with open windows during night - a must because there is no air conditioning. Summary: I made a mistake for staying 7 nights but it is suitable for guests who come for an overnight stay which most of them did.

Aka Island is a little gem tucked away in the far south of Japan. Away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, and the tour groups of Okinawa main island, Aka is its own little gem. The accommodation was better then what we had in the main cities, and the supplied breakfast & dinner was absolutely divine. Six dishes each night, varied every night. Our host went out of her way to make the stay as memorable as possible. For those who like the big resorts this isn't for you. But for those travelers who love going off the beaten track, and finding that little part of the world that you will remissness about when you get home - go here. Add to that the white beaches, the amazing snorkelling , and swimming with sea turtles. You won't regret this.
