I have stayed at a number of hotels in Nairobi over the years and this is the best by far, as for the quality of the facilities it provides excellent value. The staff are very warm and helpful and make sure you have a great stay, the food in the restaurants is of a very high quality. The rooms are very clean and extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend a stay here as you get all the five star facilities but without the high price of other five star hotels in Nairobi.

As usual, Margaret welcomed me with open arms when I checked in. She’s a real star, being welcoming and yet professional at the same time. But my ultimate is going for breakfast every morning - your team of Rose, Pauline and Grace are the best. I got flu while I was there and missed breakfast - I called the restaurant after 14h00 to ask Pauline what she would recommend- she insisted I come down and she would help me - she ordered soup and made me Dawa. I had about 4 cups of Dawa and felt better by the same evening. They checked on me for the rest of my stay offering Dawa at every instance they could.

Excellent all around. Nairobi is a city known for security problems and the Serena is a sanctuary of safety within the city. Quiet, peaceful, with marvelous decor and lovely but small garden. Pool side dining is excellent. Staff was the best I have every found anywhere. VEry friendly and treated me like family. Other clientele are interesting from all over world, but family friendly at same time.

Pros: beautiful property, friendly staff, delicious food, right on the beach, flexible check in/check out, EXCELLENT service. Cons: we went right before the busy season, so there weren’t many people there. For us, we didn’t mind bc we only wanted to relax, but if you’re looking to party rather than relaxation, maybe this isn’t the place for you. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay here. The staff went out of their way at every level. Since the hotel wasn’t busy, we were upgraded to the Colobus Suite (#19) for free. It was the perfect suite to relax, enjoy the scenery and see all the monkeys jumping around. We got the half board (breakfast & lunch incl) which made sense. The portions are large and you can swap dinner for lunch. Drinks weren’t too expensive. If you’re looking for a relaxing place to stay with top service - this is the place. Diani Beach is beautiful. We will be back for sure.

The greeting by the receptionist was warm and friendly! She quite understood that I could not use a shower over a bath due to a recent hip replacement so moved me to another room which had a fantastic walk in shower. The room was very pleasant, though I noticed stains on the carpet. The bed was very comfortable but had a heavy, lumpy duvet.....shame as the sheets etc were nice! Continental breakfast was adequate, with fresh fruit. The croissants could have been better though! I will use it again as it's only ten minutes drive to the airport!

This place was far more than my husband and I anticipated despite reading all the wonderful reviews. It's a natural oasis with a touch of pizazz. We had a tent right on the water which allowed us to do a lot of nature viewing. The wildlife here is incredible. There are so many different bird species. We saw hippos all day, and even had one pass under our abode, lol! We were sitting outside and we felt the abode shake a little, I had heard a hippo grunt in the area from behind the abode, then we looked to the side and there it was, just passing by. It is truly amazing. Also, the service here is stupendous. They really know how to deliver a top notch customer service experience. From the waitstaff to housekeeping to the security guards. They are all wonderful. Each night we got a turn down service, we were escorted to and from dinner (they insist on this due to the animals). I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves and appreciates nature, but also appreciates first class service. I would like to add, we are vegans. The meals are buffet and for the most part we were able to eat very well. Only a couple times did we have to ask for a little more, i.e., the spinach had butter and we requested some without. We also requested rice for breakfast and they quickly provided it for us without complaint. They even went as far as making a vegan chapati for us one evening, from an earlier in the day request. Also, the manager asked the chef to make us a vegetable soup without cream, for lunch one day. So you see, customer service really gets no better than this. Also, this is coming from someone who is not generally a fan of Kenya as a whole. My only complaint is that at night, due to the unseasonable weather, I was absolutely freezing! I literally had to sleep in yoga pants and two pullovers. We asked if they had any small heaters and of course they didn't, as I anticipated they wouldn't. I was just so desperate I thought I would ask.

The hotel was very convenient for us - airport transfer service is included, but communication was not good, so we ended up taking a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The hotel rate we received from Agoda was acceptable. Breakfast, I was told by the staff, was not included in the rate, and was an additional $25.00 per person. That, I felt, was totally unreasonable...later I found we could have ordered a great breakfast for under $10.00! The bed was huge - the room new, clean and fresh. The staff friendly and accommodating, but the mattress was too hard. We would most definitely be checking rates here when we travel in and out of the country. And,w e do recommend this hotel for others traveling into Kenya.

I cannot say there was any cons just pros. I arranged my flight to the Mara strip and met by my driver and guide throughout my stay at the lodge. He was welcoming and as my visit continued turned out to be one of the kindest human beings ever. He made sure the group and myself he was assigned to enjoy all a safari could offer at anytime of the day. In between these safaris the Logde provided delicious food and night entertainment by way of song and traditional Masi welcoming. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The sceneries out side your room are incredible seeing various creatures just on your door step. Point to highlight and note: Safries and reservation fees are extra. However like I said all well worth it. This is an experience everyone at some point in their life should treat themselves to.

There is an URGENT need to review the security at the entrance. Customers, including those who may have just arrived from the airport with their luggage, are made to disembark from their cars, take out their luggage from the cars, their cars are searched in their absence, luggage taken through the security scans, then they return to the cars and then drive into the hotel. These customers to the hotel can potentially be attacked at the gate by thieves because the entrance is literally on the street. Any security checks should be done right inside the hotel and not OUTSIDE! This is very WRONG!

I was very happy to stay at Norfolk because it was perfect situated in quiet area and close to everything, walking distance to National Museum, University and Restaurants in Westland. The pool area could be more five star..........I would give 3 star there. The menue in Restaurants are good but for vegetarian like I am not so much option. Also here could be more five star I would give also 3 star in choice of menu. But staff are extremely lovable and helpful and do real the best they can. Small things are every where happen but at all I loved to be there very much and will return.

The cabins are really nice wood cabins, with large bedrooms, modern bathrooms and very comfortable mattresses. The entire lodge property is also large, so there is plenty of green space, tons of trees and you really are in the middle of nature. You can hear plenty of animals nearby(especially the elephants) at night! The staff are amazing, simple as that. They are very friendly and attentive, always there if you need anything, they are willing to answer any questions you have and are just great people to hang around with. There is a large group of staff there, almost all of whom are local Masai, so you can learn a great deal by talking with them. The food was good too. When we were there it was low season so they just asked us what we wanted and they cooked it up. No complaints about the food at all and they pack up a nice lunch for you too if you do a day long safari out in the park. Overall, in this price range, it was a great value and I'm sure that when it's full, with everyone sitting around the bonfire at night, with a sky full of stars above and the wonderful staff mingling with everyone too, it would be even better (again, we were there during low season).

Nicolette massaged away my stresses like magic. Everyone I came across in the hotel and restaurants was extremely gracious in their service and manner. They anticipated my every need and made my stay amazing. Thank you!!

I wanted a 3 adult room only a double was available. When I called they said they would be happy to add one extra bed to the room. Overall, it came to a $80 per night addition for a full board adult. It was delightful and the staff were particularly pleasant and accommodating (Especially Samuel!, Jackson, and Mr. Kamal). *Location*: Please note, Kiboko (meaning Hippo in Swahili) is part of the Naivasha Country Club. Directions can be tricky as there are no signs for the Luxury Tent (just follow signs to Naivasha Country Club). Google maps does not show the road on the map, either. Call 0703 048200 or 0703 048300 for directions. The last 500m access road is a bit tricky, but manageable even for a lower vehicle such as a car. They said they are in the process of fixing the roads. *Dining*: They allow guests the option of dining at the luxury camp (with the most breathtaking views of the lake/ hippos and eagle) or the buffet at the country club.Opt for the private dining, so much better!

I booked this hotel based on its location according to Google maps, which had it in the wrong place. A fortunate error, for I would not have stayed here otherwise! And it was a grand stay. The rooms are huge and well appointed. The interior design is spectacular. The staff friendly and helpful. The view and landscaping lovely - nothing but trees, flowers and rolling hills. It is a bit out of town, but only about 15 minutes by cab from the UN complex. Breakfast on the veranda is a treat, but the dinner menu has a somewhat limited selection.

This could have been better. They are located centrally in Nyali, near supermarkets and restaurants, but quite far away from the beach. My apartment consisted in a bedroom, bathroom, and huge living room, but the latter was shared with another apartment (thought the latter happened to be unoccupied during the whole stay). This wasn't so bad, but they should have stated it in the description. There was no aircon in the living room (only in the bedroom) which was a disappointment, and the room was quite dark. I had to fight until they allowed me to use the (equally shared) kitchen, though they claim to have a "kitchenette" in every room. There is a swimming pool on the roof, but it's tiny. I also missed a shaded outside sitting area anywhere on the property.

I didn't get a refurbished room and my friends did - there is a huge difference so make sure to ask. The beach isn't great as it is very tidal and is swarmed with 'beach boys' hassling you. However the hotel set up our safari and it was phenomenal - as a coastal safari base the place is perfect. It's a 2-3 hour drive from the parks but if you're doing a 3-4 day safari that's fine. As far as standard of hotel, it's not 5 star by any means but it's trying to be, and this or Serena is the best you'll do on the Mombasa north strip. Due to the lack of tourists recently the value was insane. The Kenyan people are incredibly friendly, and almost all speak English. The staff weren't always brilliantly competent, but were always eager to help and lovely people.

Had the most memorable experience, seeing safari animals with the knowledgeable guides. Accommodation was very good and a pleasure to stay. Food was plentiful and tasted great, breakfasts and pancakes 🥞 were the favorites! Better than many 5star hotels. Balloon safari and breakfast was the highlight of the trip, would recommend everyone to do this. Memories will last a lifetime. Will visit again for sure!

This hotel has a great reputation in Kenya, which is a bit over-blown if you've travelled outside the country. The rooms are tired and dated. They look like something out of a 1930s movie -- and indeed all the photos on the wall indicate this once was a favorite stop of movie stars of that era. But the food more than makes up for it, and it's a great place to relax. I also really enjoyed the game drives, even though they ended up being really expensive because I was alone. If you go with a number of people, the price goes down significantly. The best thing about the hotel is the staff who are not only professionally but very friendly -- and they were just as friendly and welcoming to my Kenyan friends who came to pick me up for the drive back to Nairobi as they were to me, a paying guest. That is the test of a great hotel. This is a good stop on a circuit of Kenya, but keep your expectations in check.

My family gets nervous if I book a hotel that isn’t a world wide chain they are familiar with. They were pleasantly surprised at how nice & clean the Boma hotel was. I wish we would have stayed there our 1st night in Nairobi, but I went with a hotel we had all heard of. We were only at the Boma for about 3 hours while we showered & ate dinner after a week on safari & before going to the airport, but our experience was great. My only complaint was the room was really hot when we got there (if the key isn’t in the switch on the wall the AC doesn’t turn on) and it took a long time for it to cool down, especially with the steam from the shower...there was no ventilation in the bathroom so it got incredibly hot Even leaving the bathroom door cracked open a few inches. We appreciated the complimentary bottled water in the room so we could drink & brush our teeth with it. The food in the al a carte restaurant downstairs was very good. Our flight was @ 12am & it took less than 30min @ 8:30pm

We spent two nights at the hotel. I loved the fact that it is a relatively small hotel. Our rooms were enormous. We had a garden room with a large terrace. The room was immaculate as was the huge bathroom with jacuzzi. The staff are amazing. I would personally like to thank Mr Dolla , the F&B manager, for taking such good care of us and all our needs. Loved Constance, Miri, Raphael , Deniece and all the staff . They really went out of their way to ensure we had an unforgettable stay. Kennedy kept our room impeccably clean. No request was too much for the staff. Loved the fact that there was no loud music etc by the pool. But if anyone does want that you can go to the sister resort next door and use all their facilities. I did a great stretching class with Kennedy, their sports instructor. There was a lot of seaweed in the sea so it was difficult to swim but the pool and pool area was kept very clean and staff were constantly coming round offering drinks. Great experience.

Great location and lovely staff, but I won’t be recommending this place. We had a two night booking, but ended up cutting our stay short as the hot water lasted only about five minutes, the toilet refused to flush. We were switched to a different room thereafter, but again found the hot water problem. The rooms use old fashion water heaters that take forty plus minutes to heat water for one person to take a very rushed shower with zero pressure. We tried bathing our little kids in the bath, but the water turned to ice when the water had barely covered their little legs. A hotel charging the amount Wasini does really needs electric showers with good pressure and bathtubs that one can fill with hot water higher than ones toes. I left feeling very disappointed as we had been very excited about staying at a supposedly fancy hotel.
