Set in a former coaching inn, the County Hotel is in the centre of Kendal, just 100 metres from Kendal Railway Station. The hotel offers traditional meals and cooked breakfasts. The bright and airy bedrooms each have a cosy seating area and a private bathroom. Rooms also feature tea/coffee facilities and a work desk, and some have original features. The County Hotel features a spacious dining room, which serves full English breakfasts and a varied evening menu. Kendal sits between the beautiful Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. The County is just 15 minutes’ drive from Lake Windermere, and Morecambe Bay is a 20-minute drive away.

Very pleasant stay”
We have stayed here a couple of times before it was refurbished, the bar wasnt open and there was ⁹minimal staff, but its central to everything. Since being refurbished it is much more inviting warm and comfortable, the rooms are equipt with TV hairdryer ect, the breakfast is good and plenty of choice, staff are very helpful and friendly.

Reasonable location and value”
Slightly dated decor. Rooms very warm, but clean and spacious. Bathroom up a set of steps which may be difficult for some people and shower over the bath. On the outskirts of the main town centre. Very friendly helpful staff.
