Pre Lockdown Stay”

Prices were low due to imminent lockdown so was good value for money. First room given has cigarette burns and carpet stains, asked to change and they did no problems. Facilities good, nice peaceful stay. Restaurant food very nice but drinks very expensive and not the freshest of lager on tap for £5+ per pint. Wine is £8-9 per 250ml glass

Convenient”

The hotel was sitting conveniently for out purposes, with a large car park and good breakfast. The hotel in the evening was an interesting microcosmos of people from all walks of life. Dinner was simple and classic. We did not use the gym. The building is dated now, the rooms, corridors and carpets show its age. There are no lifts we could see (but didn't need one). The bathrooms are new, however, and very pleasant. All in all, a safe bet, albeit a somewhat soulless hotel with very long and narrow corridors, but ultimately we had a good rest and that is all that matters. The reception staff was vey efficient, a big thanks to them.

Very few criticisms - thin pillows would be good and room had relatively poor lighting ( no main light above bed) there was a smell of air freshener- much prefer clean air. Breakfast good choice. Didn’t use other facilities but cleaning staff were friendly too. Thank you for my stay.

Very pleasant experience”

Family room was comfortable. The bathroom a bit small but clean and modern. The children received special bands and were given a treat they could choose (either sweets, milk & cookies or fruit salad). Lovely touch. Staff was very friendly Swimming pool was nice too. Would happily go again.

Good Location but interior of the hotel is very dated. The rooms are a good standard and general cleanliness is okay but there were a few issues. The telephone in the room was very dirty and sticky. The bathroom was small and not enough room for 2 people to stand. We were on one of the lower floors and there was no lift so had carry heavy bags down the stairs. The restaurant food was not good and very expensive. The only thing this hotel has going for it is its location.

Quiet and comfortable ”

The hotel is in easy walking distance of the main road for frequent bus service to city centre. Car parking is free during your stay. Staff are friendly and helpful and provide lots of info about things to do. The rooms are all newly decorated and comfortable. Excellent value for money

Family rooms are very tight on space. The hotel is sprawling which means it can be a long walk to the guest rooms. Very good breakfast.

Midnight Fire Alarm & Drafty Doors”

We arrived at the hotel and booked in fine, a wedding was taking place and we was given a 'Family Friendly' room. Turns out our room was 6 doors down from the bride and grooms... so we had to put up with the drunken party goers running up and down the hallways and shouting as they were overly drunk. Our kids didn't get to sleep until around 10:30PM, after going to bed at 8PM. Come Midnight, we were abruptly awoken to an ear piercing fire alarm, which was directly above the bed. No staff were available throughout the hotel, we was near the back and made our way out of a fire exit with many other confused customers. We had to walk all the way around the building following the fire signs, arrived at the car park yet again with no staff in sight. About 10 minutes later, the alarm went off and customers made their way back into the hotel, yet again with no staff around. Booking out in the morning the next wedding party was arriving, we asked the receptionist what happened and they replied a customer sounded the alarm and has been fined for it. I made an official complaint via Twitter & email and I'm yet to get a response. Dreadful night.

Efficient check in and out. Overall a pleasant stay the only thing that was a little let down was the food in the main restaurant. Although not bad it was quite pricey and not really value for money. I ordered the fish & chips with mushy peas. Nicely presented but, unfortunately the fish was overcooked and quite small, the chips were reconstituted and the mushy peas were quite odd and very watery. This is such a basic and standard meal that should not be too difficult to get wrong, disappointing. The buffet breakfast was standard and plentiful

Quick check in and check out. Clean but dated room”

Our stay was average. Not great, but not bad. The service at reception was good and felt like I got a good price for the room, but would not have been so content with the stay if I had payed full price. I was disappointed in the house keeping, which was noisy and very obvious. It seems that there is a lack of service staircases as sheets were on the floor outside the rooms and when we went to check out a dirty room service tray was just sitting in the stairwell. I was also wanting a bottle of water, but was told that the hotel did not have a vending machine. Such a simple convenience that I believe a hotel should have.
