great shower and bathroom my bed mattress wasn,t so great and no safety rail on bed ,but generally nice sleep even if others banging doors late breakfast fine ,staff fine,lounge fine ,though i never got internet ,its my machine ,many places could not ,old thing like me would recommend

the staff is so kind”

the hotel is very close to the coach bus station and also the train station. the staff is so kind and generous. given that i am quite scared, he changed my room type without charging to improve my privacy. thank you so much, cozy accommodation :)

Some good bits and bad bits ”

The location is great, very close to the boring and the city centre, although on a bit of an industrial estate. The bathrooms were clean, although all the sinks lacked any sort of pegs for hanging wash bags or towels. The showers were good with plenty of hot water. The room was okay, clean and well ventilated, but the mattress was horrific, it was a foam mattress well past its renewal point. When I arrived, the lady who greeted me was very funny about providing photo ID, which at no point previously had been mentioned, luckily I had an old student ID on me which was “acceptable”. The breakfast in the morning was really great, and made up for a poor nights sleep on a crap mattress

Great commune room, breakfast including fruits. 1 toilet closed, 1 hard to get in and the other has the only shower available (second floor) till 8 a.m.. Very friendly staff, accept to keep luggage for free on the departure day, 3 minutes from bus station.

Stayed only for one night and there must have been bugs in my bed. I woke up covered in itchy spots all over my right arm, feet and a few on my back. Would never recommend it to anyone!!

Small but spotless private room with a big window and the heat cranked up just high enough, a comfortable low bed, tea and a hot water kettle, fast wifi: everything I needed. I'm in my late thirties and tend to avoid backpacker joints and their drunk lads, or patchouli-scented hippy bros, so I'd been apprehensive about this place, but it was fantastic. Great value for the money,

Really great, clean hostel. Good price. Stayed in Room 9 with the pods and 2 ensuite showers. Toilets are just down the hallway, which is a brilliant idea for those fellow stinky travellers! Staff are really friendly and helpful. Hostel was super clean; one of the cleanest I’ve ever been in! Plenty of seating in common room and separate smoking area. I extended twice whilst I was here as I was so comfortable staying at this hostel.

This hostel was absolutely HORRIBLE!! I would never stay here again & I recommend other people give it a miss as well. I was put into a mixed dorm room, the room was quite large however felt very dirty. It was also in the building next to the one pictured on the hostels website. The mattress was unbelievably uncomfortable & the springs dug into my back all night. The toilets were an absolute disgrace, there was urine all over the floor & the toilet (unisex only). I thought I would give it time to be cleaned up, however by the next morning still nothing was done about it. I arrived at the hostel about 5pm in the afternoon & was welcomed with VERY loud music from a rave that was happening in the area, this carried on throughout the night & stopped around 5am (just in time for me to wake up). The only positive would be that the showers (unisex only) had more ventilation then other hostels I have stayed in, however the shower room is under renovation & has scaffolding everywhere.

Businessman's experience of BCB”

I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in Birmingham Central Backpackers. Breakfast was healthy and appetising; a choice of fruit, jams and bread including tea or coffee. The staff were polite and sometimes talkative. The bunk beds in the large dormitory are quite old; the metal frame creaks often. Make sure you wear ear plugs! The kitchen, shower room and toilet facilities are clean and well maintained. The common room has ample furniture, space, DVDs, games and literature. A nice flat screen TV is available for use. Overall the value for money is very good.

Pleasant stay”

If you come with National express bus it is a perfect location. But as I traveled with Megabus, I had to walk 20mins. The breakfast was great. The staff were super friendly. The beda are quite old. Overall, it was pleasant stay.

Great but loud”

Absolutely amazing place and people. Alas it is next to Trent Street 11 a Warehouse "venue". Please do check out when Technomatics are playing there as you will not be able to sleep till five in the morning!

Good value for money”

Just 5 min walk from the coach station, 20min walk to the town. Bunk beds are not comfortable, but alright for staying 2 nights. Breakfast is toast with fruit, have not expect anything with the price i paid for. Bathrooms with good showers are definitely clean, appreciate the work of cleanser!

Simple Hostel ”

Hostel booking comes with simple breakfast. Rooms are located in an annexed building without shelter. Faced some inconvenience to transport luggage across when it was raining when we checked in. The only consolation is its location to the coach station. Don't expect hostel of YHA standard here. Just satisfactory for one night's rest.

An excellent and quirky hostel.”

I stayed here for three nights and as my first ever hostel experience I was very happy. Secure facilities (lockers in rooms and several locked doors to get into room), adequate bedding (I shared a room with 11 others) and the best part which was the quirky, welcoming and immensely lovable common area with tons of books/dvds/games around and lots of character. It's in a very central location and the included breakfast was also excellent. The only downside was that there was some noise at night (earplugs are a must) which I was told was a festival close by. Despite this I still managed to sleep well and I was surprised that it didn't bother me. Highly recommended!

Basic”

I have been at different hostel in different city in the UK, BCB was a lil bit disappointing for me. Staffs are very nice especially Sam but in terms of facilities, BCB needs to consider to do major upgrade especially on toilets, shower, beds and the rooms itself. Ok experience but i will not stay here again in the future.
